    Smoked old fashioned

Went in for cocktails after dinner and really enjoyed! Bartenders were great! Super knowledgeable and friendly with just the right kind of Chicago sass. Loved it! The drinks were fun and some good twists on old classics. I had two smoked drinks which hit the spot. Great place for a drink!

I had been DYING to stay here for years. I love the science-y vibe, technological "surprises" in the room, and I love dark and moody hotels. It was everything I hoped for. Read on for important info: I booked through Bonvoy app with my AAA bennies. Watch those prices - they came down over $80 when I checked and rebooked teehee. I parlayed my gold elite status (don't scoff - this is nice for me) into a corner room upgrade. Loved the privacy at the end of the hall. I rarely do room service bc I don't like food or trash in my room but in typical Amanda fashion I was doing time sensitive work while on vacation. Womp womp. The mushroom omelette came in clutch. I tried to have my items delivered by the two quirky robots they have in the lobby but a human took and delivered my order lol. Housekeeping was wonderful and amenable to my schedule. Never made it to the bar - my brother lives in the city and has a priceless bourbon and rum collection so I have a personal bartender. Ahem. The women working reception day and night were awesome - welcoming, knowledgable, and friendly. Overall: Super clean, super stylish, smelled incredible. Steps away from Miracle Mile and The Shoppes.

Great location in the heart of the city one a half blocks from Michigan Ave. near the high-end shops and plenty of restaurants. We were in a king deluxe room with a city view, and it was small. Not too small for two people, but tight for two open suitcases. Showers is open to the room, but a curtain can be pulled for privacy. Staff was welcoming and pleasant. Live musician(s) were performing most in the entrance of the attached restaurant. Very nice vibe!

My husband has stayed at this hotel multiple times when traveling to Chicago for work. It is a nice hotel in a good location. Room service was ok, but he was starving after a full day of travel.

I have never stayed at an autograph collection Marriot and I stay at Marriott all the time. The experience has been like none other. This hotel is gorgeous and so so freaking cute. The shower is awesome. The set up is perfect. The attached bar is sweet! Now I will try to book auto going forward.

Nice stay overall, but major issue with the shower. Room 501 really needs to fix its bathroom set up. Every time I showered, water poured out from under the shower and completely soaked the bathroom floor. I had to use extra towels just to keep it from flooding toward the sink area. The room itself was clean and comfortable, and staff were polite but the shower design is a serious flaw that makes it hard to enjoy the stay. Hopefully management looks into redesigning the shower area. It's a simple fix that would make a big difference for guests. (See pic)

Came here for the Cubs Wild Card games. Phenomenal Location: 10/10, near Northwestern campus, plenty of food and entertainment options. Customer Service: 10/10, the front desk attendants were always bubbly and in good spirits. Room: Bed was comfortable, black out curtains, no complaints whatsoever. Rainfall shower head. Adequate pressure. Gym: What you'd expect, dumbbells up to 50lbs. A few treadmills, ellipticals, benches etc. Towels were provided, no water bottles, did have a water filling station. Food: If you are a titanium elite member, you get an option for free breakfast (up to 44 dollars). Take it. Seriously. I cannot overemphasize how good this food was. I don't think I came close to using the entire voucher daily. Thats eggs, toast, potato and cheese hash brown, yogurt / granola, grapefruit juice and coffee without scratching 35 bucks. Overall: I would definitely stay here again, I look forward to it!

Visiting a friend and stayed one night. Pros Ab board in gym Gym 24 hour Gym had disposable wipes. Good music in the gym The good shower caps and they were in the room! Nice vanity kit. Location Room dark Cool and efficient elevators Snacks and wine in the lobby Friendly staff Printed for me Makeup mirror! Alexa to play music Robots! Happy hour wine and snacks in the lobby. Cons Housekeeping issue and communication? Many complaints about room not ready and one woman asked at nearly 5:30 and they said they forgot to call her to tell her it was ready. Room v small. I was one person with 2 suitcases. Can't imagine if there were 2 people with 4 suitcases. My layout would have made it v difficult to move around. I would stay here again!

Tech savvy and modern hotel. Love their restaurant where we had breakfast daily - front and restaurant staff are superb. Valet is another story - I came out to check on our car (coming from restroom) and asked if a white jeep was outside and the valet gave me attitude and asked me for the "number". In any case, he was of no help so I asked my husband for the ticket and I figure that has the number. It wasn't a busy morning there were only 2 cars parked for valet and apparently one is a white jeep so he could have spared me with his attitude so early in the morning. There were so many ways he could have answered. Sighed... other than that, I wanted to give 3 stars but not fair to the other hardworking staff. I did report it to one of the staff for she saw me walking back with a strange look on my face and she said she will mention to management. The rooms though can be cooler - AC was off. Love the location within walking distance (.5-1.5 miles we love to walk and explore) to Sbux Roastery, Gibson's Steakhouse, Magnificent Mile, Navy pier, Art Institute of Chicago, Harry Potter store.

Paid and extra $100 for a room with a view and this was it. Do not stay here! They are completely incompetent

Absolute worst hotel experience I've ever had. Where do I even begin... -Found unauthorized charges to my credit card. They couldnt explain what they were for, but still after contacting them multiple times I was never refunded. -Was charged extra for a room with a view, which was just a roof covered in air conditioners (see picture). -The front desk gave keys to our room to another guest who not only entered our room but locked us out of with all our stuff inside. -Paid nearly $300 at their restaurant and did not receive the appetizer or dessert. They said they would refund (which they never did). Management and Marriot have done absolutely nothing to refund us the $100s they stole. DO NOT stay here under any circumstances! Not worth the risk.

Lovely little gem! Arrived after flying on a red eye - I let the front desk know we would be in early and to my surprise there was a room for us at 6am! Room was spacious and very modern in design. There was an issue with the bathroom door and we have to call a couple times - not sure what the delay was but ultimately it was fixed. Location is perfect - close to several bars, restaurants and shopping. Would stay here again!

I stay in hotels about 240 nights per year and this might be the coolest hotel I've ever stayed in. Aside from the fact the decor is mega modern/futuristic, moody, and sexy--this hotel offers top notch service. Checkin was easy. As a Bonvoy ambassador, my room was upgraded to a beautiful city view. I had a welcome letter and box of truffle chocolates waiting for me upon entering the room. The linens are smooth and crisp and the beds are so comfortable. The blackout curtains are some of the best I've ever experienced--they actually kept the room dark. The room had an Alexa and cool speaker to play music. TV is Netflix enabled and there is free Showtime. Some people have talked about THE SHOWER. This is a fun and sexy addition to the room--the shower is glass and in the middle of the room. Could make for a steamy couples getaway. That being said. The people complaining about privacy may not have noted the huge, all-encompassing curtain (same material as the blackout curtains) that can be pulled forward and goes all the way around the shower and vanity area. Completely private. And the toilet is separate and has a separate door. So honestly, this is no less private than any hotel room. In fact, some hotel rooms I've had in New York are a little less so. Housekeeping is excellent. Room service with their little delivery robots is so cool and super fast. The restaurant downstairs, The Albert, serves high end Italian and meat dishes and cocktails. I went there every night of my stay because it was convenient and served great meals. The service there was awesome too--the best service of possibly any restaurant I've been to (and I eat out almost as many nights as I stay in hotels). As I said in my separate review of The Albert, my business in Chicago is currently finishing up, but this will likely always be my Chicago go to spot from here on out.

I wonder if that's the 'Ivy Room' of the namesake? We grabbed some drinks and enjoyed music, speeches and a special award. It's a nice space with seating, not just wicker chairs either but cushions! There were passed drinks and hor-durves, as well as friendly, helpful bartenders for those wanting beer, water or soda. One of us spilled something on a light-colored jacket, and they came to our rescue with seltzer and wipes. There was also a buffet with Spanish themed food (empanadas, paella) and small bite dessert bar. I asked about what had red meat/pork and thankfully I was dutifully informed. The caterers gave me and my party some leftovers! Not sure what prompted that but we appreciated it(we tipped even on free drinks). The missing star has to do with the wine. It was AWFUL! I tried to break it up with beer, but I got so sick the next day, I had to cancel my evening plans. I probably over indulged, but I have had more wine in one sitting with way fewer side effects. I may just stick with beer next time.

Will sitting in the window, drinking bubbles, I watched the boats going in and out of the locks, I declared in a loud voice to The Doctor that I wanted to become the lock operator. Well if that job doesn't come through, operating the gears to raise the bridge is my new one. I have lived in Chicago all my life, born and bred, and I am a lover of all of the bridges in our town. I had no idea about this museum. It is down on the riverwalk on the Chicago River. The first time The Doctor and I went, it was by accident that we discovered it during one of our staycations. The museum is a five story building. There is no specific fee to enter, but they do take donations. Each floor is filled with historical goodies about the bridges, gears, mechanisms, etc. At river level, The Doctor and I geeked out as we are gears heads. We were able to see the gears that are responsible for raising the bridge. Imagine our surprise to discover that the engine, named Earle, that operates the bridge is kind of like a 1950's Volkswagen Bug. Hearing that made me think of the first time I went to the Museum of Science and Industry to discover that Man went to the moon in something that looked like a washing machine and was operated by computer was didn't even come close to the power of my Samsung phone! But being a gear head, I know that the counter weights literally do the heavy lifting. It was cool to see the lower street levels through the gaps in the structure. Once we got our fill of viewing the gears, we made our way up each level to see the various artifacts and historical musings about Chicago and the different types of bridges in the city. Be prepared to get in some steps (wear your Fitbit or favorite tracker). It was a very interesting visit and I learned a lot about our history with the bridges. Upon leaving, we discovered that the museum does tours of the bridge raising, so we made an reservation to attend. Tickets were $15 each and we were told to arrive at 9:15 am. First thing I discovered during the tour was that there are people in various positions in the gear area as well as the lower sections of bridges. Once the bells went off, Earle started roaring and the gears started turning. It was so cool to see the gears turning and watching the lower section of the bridge for Lower Wacker go up! Once the bridge went up and the gears stopped, The Doctor and I made our way upstairs to see the bridges in the air. It is an interesting process as one bridge at a time goes up and the next one doesn't go up until the other one is in place. So it was cool to see the State Street bridge go up next and watch the Michigan Ave bridge come down. This is not an experience that I would have normally planned for an early Saturday morning, but it was so much fun and we really enjoyed it. The tour season is over as October 25 was the last viewing, but I would highly recommend that once the museum starts the tours again, make a reservation to go and see the bridges go up and down. It was truly magically for us.

It was free for us when we went - I think there is an entrance fee on certain days? Don't quote me on that! It's pretty easy to miss. Apparently there is also a guided tour also that has a cost - we did the self guided tour. To be honest my husband engineer probably found it more interesting than I did! Has 5 stories with lots of stairs which are pretty narrow, can look out the windows into the river. Takes maybe 20 or so minutes give or take - but would definitely recommend checking out particularly on a free day!
