They did not speak any English and appeared to find my broken Spanish offensive. AC worked great. Remember you are in Mexico - so cable would fuzz out once in a while. Come prepared and don't expect help from the front desk employees. I made the mistake of coming from NY hoping for information on Matamoros from the front desk - but they were not helpful. Surrounding area very clean and safe. Excellent restaurant right across street with waiters and staff that were fluent in English and very helpful.

The price is great for what you get. There is an OXXO convenience store a couple of blocks away. A pharmacy and a full grocery store are just three more blocks away. The room I had was spacious and comfortable. The bed was great. Good ventilation, A/C and heat available. The bottom portion of the window can open some. The room was equipped with basic toiletries, iron and ironing board, cable TV (limited channels), room safe, plenty of closet space, drawers and desk. I could connect to the WiFi but it was so slow O could not even download my email. Thankfully I had roaming data. Every once in a while I picked up an American tower. On the negative side, the hot water runs out at peak times, so plan accordingly. One morning I had a very cold shower... great for waking you up in the winter! The service was pleasant and attentive. There is a full restaurant onsite in case you arrive hungry. The full hot breakfast buffet is nice: some kind of eggs (with potato, chorizo, or ham), chilaquiles, beans, cereal, a few breads and fresh fruit, juice and coffee. Sunday morning the breakfast area was crowded. There is a basic fitness center with a few exercise machines like a treadmill and elliptical. No free weights. No pool. Free parking in above ground parking lot. It is open to the street, but there is an employee who keeps an eye on things. It's hard to find a better deal for the price (between 40 to 50 dollars a night). Just remember to shower when others are not.

Only plus side to this was they did give me a ride to the bus station the next day. There was no mini fridge or microwave. Bed was uncomfortable and pillow was a joke.
