Was in Prague for 5 days and wanted…read moresomewhere nice to stay, we found Hotel Esplanade. - Not wanting to break the bank I booked the room on Hotwire. 4 Star hotel for under $100 a night. Nice. - Somewhere between when I booked the room and before the trip began we decided to make a mad dash to Budapest. So, we wouldnt be checking into the room until a day later. Now you know Hotwire is final sale, and a hotel can mark you no show. Spoke with management and they held the room for us. Thankfully. - The hotel is in a nice area. Near the Opera, Museum, and Wenceslas Square. There are a ton of restaurants, bars, and shopping nearby. - Also, a very good laundry within walking distance. After being in Europe for almost 3 weeks I needed to wash. They do it for you. Boom, amazing. - The hotel rating is a European 4 star, not American. So, dont expect grandeur. - The hotel is beautiful. Vintage charm. Great restaurant and bar area. - The room was just ok. We had s standard room nothing special. Good for 4 nights. Bathroom was kinda small though. Id stay here again. Their breakfast is really good too.

The porter greeted us right away with a smile. Check in was friendly.....enough. Got into the elevator and it was showing it's age. Not a problem, it's to be expected (1927). So, the room. Not what we expected. Sub par at best. Old furniture (not the antique kind of old), dated. Stained carpet and sitting stool at end of bed. There is a basic wood plank that separates the rooms on the floor that is raised with no real incline. Watch your step is all I can say. Ouch. The shower is painfully small w/no tub. New marble it appears. Bed is one of those twin bed separations with 2 single size blankets. If you are a couple, forget it. Not a comfortable mattress. Didn't spend much time in the room, which is a good thing. Went to the Lounge the next morning before we left to have a coffee. Staff not the most friendly. Felt as if we were an annoyance. Not a smile. Had a look in the dining room. Looked lovely. Didn't have food so can't comment. If the hotel would get rid of the faded looking red/pink table cloth overlay and just leave white only table cloths it would be gorgeous. It is a really nice room, as was the Lounge. I wish I liked it more as it is in a good location and from the outside has an old elegance feel. Kind of falls flat once entered.

Very happy i did! Was a very modern and stylish hotel, extremely helpful staff , gorgeous rooms and the breakfasts were AMAZING!! Around a 10ish min walk to the Old Town Square and about the same to Wen Square. Was central enough for us, in a lovely quiet location. Felt completely safe (as 2 girls) walking to and from the more lively parts in the evenings. Will def be staying there again.x

The room was big, very comfortable and functional. I wonder a little at the design brief which has the basin in the main room, separate from the shower and toilet which themselves are in separate cubicles, but it was a bit of a novelty. Breakfast was delicious and very generous in the very nice dining room. Perfect location literally across the road from the train station and a short walk to the main tourist areas of prague. All in all a lovely option.

The rooms are reasonably spacious and comfortable with a decent sized bathroom. The wifi isn't great in the building though and drops out at regular intervals. Breakfast is served each morning and there is a wide selection of cold meats, cheese, cereals, fruits, yoghurts, eggs and sausages etc. There's bound to be something for everyone. You're expected to give your passport information and address to hotel staff which some find a little disconcerting. The hotel is reasonably large too. Overall it was a nice place to stay.
