We stayed four days in Murnau at Hotel Griesbrau. Griesbrau zu Murnau is terrific. The room we had was charming and clean with the modern amenities; but it still kept its bavarian charm. Griesbrau has a brewery-restaurant that has a ton of bavarian atmosphere. Their weiss bier is excellent and they serve traditional bavarian cuisine done well! The location is nice as it is at the north end of downtown Murnau and about a half mile from the train station...very convenient. If or when we return to Murnau...we will definitely be staying at Griesbrau! read more

If you love great Bavarian food as a counter meal, surrounded by Brewery equipment and a simple but very tasteful pub environment, then this is your place. The service is friendly and the beer is excellent (not surprisingly!). The prices are ridiculously low for what you get I reckon. A great place to stop by for a drink when going to the movies (the cinema is in the same building) or for a casual Lunch or Dinner. Lots of healthy options on the menu, too. If you want really comfy seats, a good view and a good spot for a conversation, walk all the way to the back and turn right...you will see what I mean (I hope :)) read more

I went there with a group tour from Edelweiss Resort. Wolfgang was our tour guide (stomp, stomp) and was the perfect host. We had samples of Helles, Dunkle, Weiss, Imperial stout, Christmas Wheat and bierlikor. All of the beer was good, but my favorite beer was the Imperial stout. It was absolutely amazing. The Beirlikor was also extremely good. For dinner I had a quarter of duck and my wife had the Schweinshaxen. The duck was very good and the Schweinshaxen was the best I've ever had. The meat was tender and the skin perfectly crispy. If you stay at Edelweiss you must do this tour or if you just happen to be in the area you must eat here. you won't be let down. read more

Very excellent family run business. Excellent beer and service. My only complaint would be that the food is like from a cafeteria/school room. The owner works very hard to make everyone comfortable. If I wanted to take friends/family to a restaurant (and I have) i would recommend Griesbrau. read more

Came there on an evening tour! WOLFGANG is stupendous and loves to share his knowledge of REAL Bavarian beer with fellow lovers. We were treated like wonderfully, and the selection of beers was fantastic. Dinner was magnificent and I've never tasted such a succulent chicken before in my life. Everything was extremely fresh, plentiful and the beers were awesome!!! I totally recommend Griesbrau and make sure you take home some "Bierlikor." It was a GREAT experience and I'll make sure I spend MORE time there next time I'm in the area. Prost! read more
