I loved the fact that it looks just like the hotels I used to frequent when going on business trips to Germany; all a bit bling (gold light switches!) and Dallas-era, just like you imagine a hotel room to look like when you've watched too many made for TV dramas. All a bit tired looking now, which adds to the retro charme.
Each room doubles up as a mini apartment with kitchenette and built-in ironing board, and apparently some guests stay here semi-permanently. There's a laundry room in the basement, as well as spa and fitness room.
I was lucky to stay with a friend who extended a business trip, but apparently the rates are very reasonable even if you have to pay yourself. It's easy to get to, just a short walk from the tube. Didn't try any food here, with the town centre in walking distance the breakfast bar didn't hold much temptation.
