Doesn't go with the rooms as the rooms seemed newer. The lighting in the room and bathroom is super bad - good luck trying to do your makeup. Spa: I got a face, neck, and shoulder massage and it wasn't worth it. She basically just removed my makeup and massaged my eyes and eyelashes, and then gently massaged the rest of my face, neck and head. It's as if she was just moving her fingers along - no pressure added.

It was well broken up with various stops so it went very well. This lovely hotel was central to everything... Transportation, restaurants, stores (and a mall). Our room was a nice with plenty of space and a good size bathroom. The room comes with robes and slippers for comfort. There is a nice size T.V. but I found watching TV in Europe was very challenging. The only English speaking stations were news. The stay came with a wonderful [very] complete breakfast and the restaurant was operated by a very well known chef. Busy every evening and there was a sister restaurant across the street, No problem, we love Italian food and the restaurant around the corner was visited twice while we walked down the block to yet another Italian restaurant the last evening. We did a fair amount of sightseeing in Prague and the hotel was very centrally located as to make them all walkable. I wasn't supposed to be here…read more I booked my stay in Prague at Hotel Josef's sister boutique hotel, Hotel Maximilian, which was down-the-street. However, when I arrived at the Max, I was informed by the concierge that, due to "labor issues", I could not stay my first night there but was booked at the Josef for one night. I actually looked at Josef first when booking for hotels. The concierge kindly guided me to the hotel. As a bit of compensation, I was offered free limo service to the airport or train station when I checked out of my eventual hotel, along with an upgrade to my hotel room. The room with a balcony was nice, though I did not get much use of it because of the rainy weather. The room itself looked a bit dated in terms of structure, but there's been a more recent superficial renovation. The bathroom is well-lighted and clean, with decent water pressure. The only gripe I had was that the door seemed a little more "loose" than chain hotels and while I felt safe throughout, it was an initial adjustment to see that the door wasn't quite the same as conventional hotel rooms. The thermostat was also dated and was a little difficult to understand at first. Total plus points for having soft drinks included in the mini-bar. They had water, sparkling water, juices, and sodas. I don't recommend the locally-made banana soda. It tastes as bad as it sounds. The breakfast buffet (included) was excellent and definitely worth going. There's a juicery, coffee bar, lots of cut fruit and vegetables (salad's your friend when you're in a meat-centric town), and a selection of baked goods (they make their own bread and pastries). They have hot items there, but the pro tip is skip the watery scrambled eggs and just have them make it for your a la carte. Not only are there various items you can get buffet-style, the breakfast includes a variety of things you can order. I usually went for some form of omelet, but they had shakskouka, waffles, pancakes, oatmeal, and other breakfast dishes. Service was excellent throughout, with thoughtful staff helping you with anything. The price is comparable with many hotels around and much lower than the chains. The location is also great, as it's far enough away from the hustle and bustle of Old Town Square, but close enough to walk there without any problems. As a bonus, since I had to return to Prague for a night before flying out, I booked this hotel for one night at their mini-room, which wasn't really mini at all.

However we decided to pack up bc we did NOT want to take those bed bugs on the journey with us. Next morning we talked to the guest and asked for a different room bc the one they put us seemed smaller. It felt small and tucked into a corner. So they moved us to a nicer room. Other than the bed bugs this stay was great. We were in room 414 when it happened. Then moved to the first floor. Then to the 5th floor in another building. I did see them cleaning the room the next day which is amazing. They had pulled the mattress and moved the headboard to rid the space. ( I could see this from my new room the next day). That was great to see they were taking the measures to rid the place of bed bugs. I'd recommend the place outside of the bed bugs. I can't say I'll stay there again, but if I do and there are bed bugs again I can only be mad at myself.

This was all about the people in the area or might have been staying at the hotel it is part of. Whatever it was it was wonderful. We wanted a good traditional meal along with some beer and stepped inside. This was a good place to be. The variety of choices was perfect. The prices even better. And as for the beer you could not go wrong. It was everything you wanted and more. The one waiter was here to help you decide what you wanted and how to work with. It might have been the language we speak. It is tough and you need to take your time to speak with him as he is someone who can help you. But once you are over that you can have something to enjoy. Going traditional is the best way. It is what you expect. And since I grew up with many of these dishes, it was a good thing to find something you will like. And a good portion of it as well. It had the same recipe that my mother use to make at home when I grew up. As for the beer, it is local and a large size. You can not go wrong. Even the beer is the same price as a cup of coffee. But the beer is better. One thing is the crowd. It is small and quiet. It is just those local individuals who know of it. They have their choices and drink a bit of beer, wine or even a soft drink as the meal arrives. And eating and having a good time is what it is all about. Naturally in the world we live in this can be rough on all of us. We need to keep that thought in mind right now. But to enjoy the company and the meal it is nice to be back after the years we have had. So raise the beer. Make the toast. And enjoy being here for the meal you will be enjoying. It is worth it.

We ended up with an attic room which required we take an elevator and then walk a number of steps and navigate beams. The room had three single beds which were not comfortable and an a/c in which the remote did not work. We were told to come down and get batteries after we had previously complained. The batteries did not fix the unit. In any event, until the wee hours of the night we listened to music, voices and ultimately a domestic fight in which the police were called. The hotel is a very old building but a lower unit probably would have been a significant improvement. In two other hotels in Czech, breakfast was included. It was not included here. The menu appeared expensive.

Among the hordes of tourists, the Emblem Hotel gave us some peace. The location was fantastic. We had 2 adjoining rooms for my wife and me with our daughter next door. The configuration was perfect and interesting- there was a main door and then each of our rooms had a keyed door also. And the staff was attentive and thoughtful throughout. Also the breakfast buffet was wonderful with exceptional egg and baked individual dishes as part of it. My wife's pancakes were amazing and I loved my omelettes with cheese and tomato. But... we'd learned at check-in that the adjoining rooms we thought we'd reserved were only available with a room upgrade. We thought we'd understood all the rules and had everything lined up. Not so. The silver lining, we thought, came when we were told that the new rate included breakfast, so we agreed. Then at check-out, we were told that no, breakfast wasn't included in our room rate, despite what we thought we'd understood. Oh, and the breakfast for 3 of us actually cost 2247 CRN/day. Given the exchange rate when we were there, that was USD $105/day, meaning $525 USD over our 5 night stay. Overall, I do think the Emblem Hotel was a very nice place to stay - it just ended up costing more than we'd thought. Maybe the misunderstanding was due to the language barrier. Regardless, if we ever do come back, we'll make sure upfront we understand the cost. Lesson learned.
