We stayed here during our first visit to Oaxaca for Dia de los Muertos. Check in at the desk when we arrived VERY early in the morning (about 7 a.m. from our overnight bus trip from DF) was promising. The guys at the desk were really nice and we were able to store our bags prior to actual check-in time, which was hours off. When we actually checked into our room hours later, things started to go downhill a bit. We were on a first floor interior room with no windows, except for ones that opened out into the inner courtyard (which made the room feel a little TOO accessible, since we couldn't open them or someone could climb in easily) and very little circulation. The room was a triple, although we only needed a double and had booked accordingly online. Overall, it was incredibly dark and stuffy. Our shower also seemed to be broken. There was no showerhead, just a spigot. But, whatever, we didn't plan to actually spend any time in the room beyond sleeping, so it was what it was.
Check out time, however was a nightmare. We had prepaid and yet somehow they wanted to charge us an extra night for which we had neither stayed nor reserved, regardless of the proof of payment I provided (printout from reservation on Booking.com.) There was a ton of confusion and back and forth and the lady was very rude. After a lot of grief, we managed to settle the situation, but it definitely soured any good will I'd felt at the beginning of our stay. Needless to say, if this is the only hotel available in Oaxaca during DDLM, I'll pass. read more
