This is actually a restaurant, the name on yelp implies a hotel. It's way off the beaten path on the beautiful island of Salina. The owner of the hotel recommended it for the beautiful sunset since it faces west on the side of a mountain. It's on the other mountain on Salina so you have to drive down then up the winding mountain roads. We had a local bus driver take us, I would not recommend driving yourself.
When we entered the restaurant we were greeted by the owners, Mom, Dad, Son's and daughter. The son brought us to the outdoor second level which was beautifully decorated. Very elegant. The location by is facing the sea on the west while the mountain side is on the east.
The son went over the menu with us explaining how they only use fresh in season ingredients. Since it is a relatively small restaurant, they may run out of certain dishes on or off the menu. For example his Mom makes an amazing tiramisu but they ran out tonight since the fisherman he buys seafood from requested the dessert for himself.
We ended up ordering about 4 dishes to start and later each of us had a main course. All dishes were excellent and full of flavor plus super local cuisine. I had a swordfish rolled with breadcrumbs, raisins and of course capers . Something I would not find at home in NYS.
As we dined we watched the incredibly beautiful sunset while listening to relaxing music played through out the restaurant.
The son Francesco has a warm and engaging personality. He taught himself how to speak English and was easy to communicate with.
We finished off the night with desserts and hoping the night would not end. read more
