We really enjoyed our stay at the Majestic Hotel & Spa. The location is unbeatable, within a few minutes walk from Casa Batlló and La Pedrera, and a variety of other sights, including the Gothic Quarter and Sagrada Familia; plus a large selection of shops and restaurants/cafes/tapas bars. The rooms are stylish and spacious, and the hotel is filled with art. The service overall was exceptionally attentive and looked to address every need or question promptly. The beds provided excellent sleep quality, and there was ample wardrobe space (which - as a self-diagnosed over-packer I found to be a very welcome feature). Aside from the slightly confused and a tad too relaxed service in the rooftop bar (well compensated for by the amazing view of the city) and a somewhat cramped gym (choose your time wisely as it gets a bit too warm and stuffy in there), it was an amazing stay. Will be back if/when I am in Barcelona again. read more

We absolutely loved our stay at Majestic Hotel & Spa in Barcelona. Booked via our American Express Platinum Fine Hotels & Resorts benefit, we also enjoyed a complimentary room upgrade and late checkout to 4pm. Things that stood out for us: 1. Incredible location along Passeig de Gracia, it is one of the most famous boulevards in Barcelona, linking the historic city centre to shopping at the designer stores or the marvelous architecture like the Casa Batlló designed by Antoni Gaudí. 2. The very best breakfast, awarded as the best hotel Breakfast Buffet in Europe, they truly do live up to it. Not only is the food fantastic, the restaurant itself is so beautiful. We loved the beautiful exterior area with the wonderful natural light. 3. The spa was heavenly. After a couple of days in Paris which involved a lot of walking, indulging in hydrotherapy was quite the treat. And it's so beautiful and relaxing too! 4. My girlfriend and I missed our flight from Barcelona back to London. The airport there was horrible, we arrived two hours early and couldn't even check in our bags. We found a booking to leave the next afternoon. So we looked at what hotels we could stay in. And found majestic hotel is part of the Amex program and we got to redeem our points for one night stay. We were able to get a room within a few hours. As we arrived to the hotel from the airport we were greeted right away when we got off the taxi.the greeter came to us and helped us with our luggage to the check in desk. Our room was ready but they needed a but more time to make sure everything was in order so we were asked to wait for a bit. We walked over to the bar/ restaurant and had a small snack. I had a bolognese linguine with my favourite negroni. It was priced very fair and the food was great. As we finished up our meal, the girl from check in desk came over to us to let us know our room was ready and brought us up to our room. The room was nice and clean, bathroom was decorated nicely with marble stone. Had a rain shower head and a manual bidet toilet. After we dealt with the hectic morning it felt really nice to relax in the king sized bed. We left to grab dinner shortly. When we returned the turn down service re did our bed. It was lovely to come back to my room with everything tidied up and clean. The next morning we checked out and got on our flight back to London. Woohoo! 10/10 will come again! read more

It's been a Majestic 9 nights at this lovely establishment. We are checking out tomorrow and heading to London :( I have to say I truly love this hotel. People are SO nice here and my family really enjoyed our stay. I would like to give compliments to our Concierge/ front desk staff Angela, David, Manuel and Laura. They are very helpful and friendly. Our terrace jacuzzi stopped heating, so Mike and Xavi from the maintenance crew came and have it fixed under an hour, and the water is nice and very warm! Before staying this place, I was seriously debating between the MO a block down and The Majestic. I'm so glad I picked the Majestic! The service and location was really quite nice and I would definitely recommend booking via the American Express fine hotels and resorts option which includes perks like free breakfast, dining credit and free upgrades when available. The dining credit we used at the bar and the bar food was ridiculously good. We ordered simple things like steak, burger and pizza (for our toddler) and everything was executed to perfection. We did have a snafu with some random person charging about 100 euros worth of whiskey shots to our room.. but that was fairly quickly resolved and addressed once they saw that the signatures were different and the time stamp was when we were not even in the hotel at the time. Other than that the hotel is right on the shopping district walkable to sagrada familia and a smattering of brilliant local restaurants. I would love to stay again as long as we can avoid the cruise crowd which can clog up the check in and breakfast lines. Breakfast was excellent with made to order egg dishes like omelets available along side a standard European fare self serve buffet. read more

Beautiful hotel in center of Barcelona. Rooms are historical but with modern amenities. Everything is marble and extremely clean. The staff is amazing. 1 day the temps were almost 100* the next they were rainy and 55*. They shelled us plan a day we could still see some of the city without getting drenched. Book the apartment residences directly across the street from the main hotel!!! We stayed 4 nights in their 2 bedroom and 2 bath apartment, which was about 1000 square feet. It included a huge living room, a dining room and a full modern kitchen. So enjoyable to have the extra space, instead of a standard run of the mill hotel room where it always seem to be a struggle to maneuver around with luggage. More importantly, I personally think a huge secret to a successful marriage is having individual bathrooms, so this fits the bill nicely! Hubby also gets up super early, so he had plenty of space to work without waking me up with his phone calls and the television. The apartment had all the benefits of what I assume an air B&B home would have to offer, but under the auspices of a full-service hotel instead, so it included daily housekeeping, room service availability and concierge services, which can be particularly helpful for making reservations when English isn't the dominant language, or for getting reservations for difficult to get into popular restaurants. We also really enjoyed the full, completely modern kitchen. In addition to the dining room, there was a nook in the kitchen where Hubby could have his morning coffee. A really cool feature the hotel offered was a spa, that you have all to yourself! I've been to lots and lots of spas, but have never ever experienced this treat anywhere!! You'll need to book in advance. When you arrive, you'll be taken into a fairly small area where you alone will be using the small area exclusively. It will include a steam room, a hot sauna, a standard shower, a sit-down table to for you to do hair and make-up, and a multi-directional shower (essentially a shower with about 15 different shower heads spraying water in various directions). What a treat to know that for the 2 hours, or however long you reserve it for, you'll be the only one in there. Absolutely no one will be there except for you! Having said that, the spa are could definitely use a little updating, but having the privacy, in my mind, makes up for it. Service was polished, professional and courteous. Wonderful location with the best of both worlds. The Hotel Majestic is located on the Passeig de Garcia, where all the upscale stores are situated, but just walk up the street about 15 minutes or so, and you can wander into neighborhood streets where the locals to their shopping for baked goods and other basics. Lastly, don't miss the rooftop bar which offers a 360 degree view of Barcelona. Even if weather doesn't permit sitting out for drinks, get up there to see the view. You can get a distant view of the Sagrada Familia from up there. The pool is also located on the rooftop, but is quite small, and the weather was much to cool for me to take a dip into. We already have this place permanently booked marked in our minds for whenever our travels bring us back to Barcelona!! read more

The hotel itself is lovely, the location is very good. Our problem started with the air conditioning. Basically, it was broken all 3 days we were there. Multiple calls didn't go through to an actual person (maintenance, front desk, housekeeping, etc) so we just ran into someone in the hall as bs asked for help. No one came until midnight on the 3rd night just hours before we left. He didn't fix it, either. It was 80 degrees in our room and all we could do was open a window. It didn't help. read more

the lobby and exterior of the hotel is lovely. It's situated on one of the best streets of barcelona and the proximity to various activities is ideal. The bathroom of my deluxe room was an 8/10, whereas the actual room itself was a 5. It was clean and had an old charm, but was rather small and did not appear like the pictures. The lights were flickering in the bathroom and blew out my converter. I pray my dyson airwrap was unaffected. My major gripes with this hotel was that we booked a deluxe room with a balcony and view and were placed on the first floor. After expressing our concerns, we were placed into a room on a higher floor with no balcony. Not only that, but the view was obstructed due to some construction. I booked my stay with our Amex which offers us a guaranteed late checkout at 4 pm, to which they gave us issues about and acted like they were doing us a favor. We were also eligible for noon check in when available, which that I understand is only when available. it seems they have some issues with bookings as I overheard a couple from Californias booking was marked as a no show so I find it alarming such an expensive hotel has multiple booking discrepancies. I wouldn't have made a mention of it if it didn't seem relevant but my main gripe is the misplaced our luggage which would've been a huge issue if they weren't able to recover it took nearly two hours of investigating for them to finally recover it. Rather than going into the room where they hold luggage (which they allowed me to inspect only to find it was not there), they sent it to a random room which is lucky that no one was occupying it. all in all 4.5/5 lobby and bar area, but for that, skip booking and go for there a drink before dinner. read more

My wife and I just completed a week long Virgin voyages cruise around Mediterranean. I decided to book one night prior and one night post cruise at two different hotels in bcn. Last Saturday we stayed at the monument hotel (second time there) and it was perfect. Attentive polite staff, excellent accommodation and on site 3 star Lasarte restaurant was great. Today we checked into majestic hotel across the street from monument. They are both "five star" hotels and both part of Chase luxury hotel collection as well as Amex fine hotels. We've stayed at many many diff high level hotels and resorts around the world and I've never ever seen anything as poorly run as this place. There are many options in this area such as mandarin oriental and monument hotels. The level of rudeness and unprofessionalism at the managerial level is beyond expectation in the worst possible way. We disembarked from the ship at 10am and were at the hotel by 1030. We checked in assuming our room wasn't ready based on the amount of people in the lobby. We were told check in time is 3pm but there would be a note put into the computer that we arrived and as soon as the room freed up they would prioritize the housekeeping for it. We left our bags and went for a long walk u til about 1pm when I inquired on the status of the room to be told it's currently being worked on and would be ready soonish. We sat in the lobby until 255 patiently waiting for the phone call to come get the keys. The call never came. My wife went to inquire a second time to be told we didn't actually miss any phone calls because the room is still being attended to. By this time it was 305pm (with a guaranteed check in at 3). She requested to speak to a manager to get some sort of explanation for the delay. At 310, a "manager" showed up. (Three diff people were already in line to speak to this manager regarding various/ pretty serious issues). The response- your room will be ready in 15 minutes. Our question- why? Response- because it's a big room it takes a long time to clean. I told him this is an unacceptable answer to me. Response- I'm sorry but it will be 15 minutes. I told him I heard him the first time but it's not an answer. He didn't care if I did cartwheels in front of him he looked me straight in the eye and said it's too bad but right now it's going to be 15 minutes. I realized we weren't getting anywhere with this talk so I let the next guest go. 14 minutes later he showed up with a key, led us to the elevator said I apologize for delay thank you and you're welcome. If you are looking for a true 5 star hotel experience in Barcelona in the center of town I highly, highly discourage staying here. The location is prime; the room is ok, the level of service is absolutely the worst possible I could ever describe. I can't fathom how this manager could've gotten a position in hospitality at a 5 star hotel with the rudeness and attitude that he presents his guests. Absolutely disgusting. And I will be sure to pass along these thoughts to anyone i know traveling to or thru Barcelona. read more

After waiting 1/2 hour for a table, we finally got seated. They were not crowded - just understaffed. It was mid afternoon. Hotel Majestic stays true to its name. It's located in a trendy section of Barcelona with plenty of tapas places, bars, and high-end stores around the corner. The building itself is beautiful inside and out and boasts some awesome views of the city. The room was squeaky clean, spacious, and even came equipped with complimentary Nespresso capsules. One of the major highlights of the hotel is a very cool rooftop bar on the top floor; it offers views of the Sagrada Familia and a wide expanse of the city. There's a nice little pool up there as well. I highly recommend Hotel Majestic if you're seeking luxurious accommodations in Barcelona. read more

This review pertains only to cocktail and service. We were looking for a place to watch a World Cup game. Sadly and surprisingly it was very hard to find a place. I went into the hotel to ask the concierge if they could direct us somewhere. Instead they invited us to a nice room behind the bar lounge. We have some drinks and enjoyed the game. Truly a 5 star experience with excellent service. It was our last night in Barcelona and we wanted to make it special. The greatest thing is that it is convenient to almost everything. If you want to hike to park guell or Sagrada Familia, this is the place to stay. It was also extremely close to the Gaudi house and La Pedrera. Location cannot be beat. It's close to everything, walkable to so many historical attractions, and to public transportation. Plus, it was so nicely decorated for Christmas!! The breakfast is really incredible too. Three stations, all the meats, cheeses, pastries, protein you can think of. The hotel and rooms are slightly older but I found bigger than most European hotels. Plus, we had a minor issue with our first room and were moved to another (much bigger with better view). When we returned that evening, hotel left us a fancy bottle of water and chocolates. We came back to the hotel few days later after visiting Mallorca, and the hotel manager came out to welcome us, apologize again for the issue we previously had, and upgraded us and our traveling buddies. I stayed at the Majestic Hotel in September 2012 three days prior to a Royal Carribean cruise I was taking out of Barcelona. Not only is this hotel beautiful, but the service is exceptional. The rooms were immaculate and all marble and luxurious. When I locked myself out of my room safe, they sent someone to fix it within 5 minutes. The breakfast buffet is outstanding and lacks for nothing. There is also a magnificent rooftop lounge with a bar and pool and music that overlooks all of Barcelona. You can even see the Segrado Familia from there. I needed one more night at a hotel after my cruise as I would not make the airport in time, so upon checkout at the Majestic, I had asked to book a room when the cruise was over. They were booked solid. Not a single room. However, they offered me a night stay at the Majestic Residences which is directly across the street. This consists of a two bedroom apartment with kitchen and living room for a wonderful rate. They are so accommodating. This is a wonderful hotel. read more

There is a small sign out front of The Majestic that says "gran lux." It's not an exaggeration. This is a classic, stunning hotel, located on the prestigious Paseo de Gracia, amidst all the high-end stores and within easy walking distance of the main attractions in Barcelona. Service is exceptionally friendly, thorough and attentive, in the classic European tradition. Our room was the real surprise. We'd stayed at the Majestic before, and it was very, very nice, but there has obviously been an even greater upgrade since then. Our accommodation was spacious, quiet, beautifully designed and . . . most important to a tired traveler . . . had a marble clad, spa quality bathroom that was just spectacular. The Majestic staff took care of everything for us . . . from making dining reservations to having cabs waiting, with proper directions to the driver, when we wanted to go out to various parts of the city. They made our visit pleasant and effortless. Very impressive. A final note . . . we thought that, based on the overall experience, costs were exceptionally reasonable: a great value for the money. read more

What can I say about the best hotel I've ever stayed in? The people who work there were top notch, the location was wonderful, and the room...ah the room! So. First the good. The apartment was well set up and worked for our familia of 4 (a teen and 12 year old son). Location is good for seeing some of the main attractions. Now the bad. The conceirge...try as they might...failed miserably at helping us make plans. They sent us to a nude gay beach when asked for somewhere less crowded than the main beach in Barcelona. Their attempts to assist us in setting up something special for our son's 12 birthday were a disaster. Almost had us renting a car to drive to a CLOSED amusement park an hour away. Good thing my sister figured it out online. Lastly: housekeeping stole my husband's Bluetooth earphones. Oh well..shit out of luck was their general response. All in all not very "majestic". With a closed rooftop pool...stay elsewhere..or else pay more for less: lock your valuables and double check all the information you get from the conceirge. read more

Once again, as good as it gets in Barcelona ! I stayed here during X-Mas season in 2012 with my love and I was left smitten with the place. I've since returned in March 2014 for late afternoon drinks on the roof-top terrace. Room we stayed in was superior with a bathroom the size of many persons' appartments. The staff was very attentive to detail and always ready to help. Well located on Paseig Gracia - location is hard to beat. Restaurants and shops nearby and although the room was small, it was very clean and comfortable. The staff in particular were friendly and hospitable. From the 1st floor breakfast and dining area to the 10th floor rooftop bar, everything in between was exceptional. This review is for the rooftop bar- we came in with a group of 7 on a Tuesday night. The hotel and lobby is gorgeous and we knew we were in the right place. We took an elevator to the roof and were greeted by 360 degree views of the city. There is a small pool and a DJ which adds to the overall sexy ambience. We were seated on lounge type sofas and we were very comfortable. The menu offers a pretty bland selection of drinks which was our only complaint- so many places in town offer exciting elevated cocktails but the ones here seemed basic and ordinary. Our whole table ordered and 3 of our drinks came back wrong. The manager was helpful and quickly corrected the order. A big plus is that they have cigars on the menu. Very relaxing setting and experience. They do close the patio at 1am which seemed a little early but we were ready to go anyways. This is more of a go get 1 drink or cigar for the view type place. Easily some of the highest prices we had seen in Barcelona. $18-25 easy for a drink. $20+ for cigars. read more

I stayed here for 2 nights with my family. The rooms were wonderful. We had a suite for 4 of us including 2 kids. It was perfect. Large, bright, 2 balconies, and just immaculate. The 2nd room was a handicap accessible room and that was honestly one of the most thoughtful handicap rooms we've ever seen for my father. Even a remote control for the door! Now why not 5 stars? The front desk. Argh. What a mess. I spent an hour in line my first day there between checkin and getting keys to both rooms. Every time I went to the lobby there were 10-15 guests in line. Well that was part of the issue, there seemed to be no line. Other guests were frustrated by this experience also. For such lovely hotel and at these prices you'd think they could do better at the front desk. A bad first impression unfortunately. Maybe they could add stantions and just make a line. Easy enough. Or move the concierge desk to keep the crowds down in any one spot. Can't say enough about the rooms and helpfulness of the staff. Very disappointed by the front desk thoug. We had a fantastic time at Hotel Majestic. Rooftop is simply the best, I almost preferred being at the pool over sightseeing. Breakfast buffet was also one of the best I've had. Ours was included in the rate, if it was not I would say it was too expensive but with it included it is a great value. Staff was helpful , would highly recommend the majestic. Reasons to love this hotel: 1. Location, location, location is the first great thing about this hotel. The Paseo Graca is a grand boulevard which ideal for strolling and shopping. The closeby stores are high end designer shops with unique products.The parallel streets are bustling with quaint shops and tapas. Even the metro is steps from the hotel. It's easy to walk down to the various plazas and even to the waterfront if you enjoy a good walk. 2. The staff is outstanding. They are courteous always, professional and they speak many languages. They are helpful with taxis, directions, shopping tips, money exchange, tipping norms and the bartenders mix great drinks. 3. The 10th floor patio offers sepctacular views of Barcelona including an awesome view of La Sagrada Familia. You can relax with a drink or indulge in spa treatments. 4. The rooms are lovely. The shower is magnificent and the in room espresso is wonderful. The WiFi is easy to use. The staff keeps the rooms well stocked, clean and they offer a warm turn down service. 5, The artwork, the coffee service and the sitting nooks make this a very comfortable hotel. 6. The breakfast buffet is awesome. I adored the French bread, Manchego cheese, the fruits, potates, tomatoes and cava! My husband enjoyed eggs too. Finally, I would like to thank the hotel for going the extra mile. On the last night of my trip I left a digital camera at an outside restaurant table a few blocks away with all my pictures not backed up. On the morning of our departure I discovered the camera was missing and I was sickened. With no time to re-trace my steps my only recourse was to tell the hotel in case something could be done. Imagine my surprise when I returned to the USA, disappointed about my camera blunder, only to get a call from the hotel that they had found my camera and they were shipping it right out. I couldn't be more delighted. It feels like a small miracle come true in the shadow of La Sagrada Familia! It goes to show that there is goodness and kindness in this world. Angel on the hotel staff in particular assisted in this good deed. We would return to this hotel anyway for reasons 1-5 but we are especially touched by the extra effort to assist. The service was not the best for it being a five star hotel. The room was comfortable as I got the junior suite for three nights. It had a little balcony overlooking the city. The thing I liked most was the pool area at night. The pool is on the roof top and has a few couches with a dj at night, who played smooth jazz. Pretty cozy.
