I have never stayed at hotel McCoy overnight as a guest but came here for food trucks and events. Each room here is decorated with art by a local artist and in general the whole place is art inspired and feels nice and relaxing. My favorite event was the Art walk in April 2026. I really enjoyed the hands on art activities they provided in particular and also enjoyed visiting a few rooms they had open with the artists who decorated them being present. I appreciate that the food trucks they invite to be on premises have vegetarian and vegan options. Can't wait for the next event here! read more

What a hidden little gem in Tucson. There are a lot of retro hotels being renovated around Arizona these days, and having stayed at multiple ones, I can say Hotel McCoy is doing it really well. I love that it is a single-story motel, meaning you don't have to listen to the neighbors walking above you all night. Also, they have gone out of their way to make things kitschy, artsy, and cool. There is art everywhere, including fun little treats like chalk and chalkboards in the room. The rooms are functional but not fancy. There isn't carpet (a benefit in my opinion), the shower is small, but has excellent pressure. I will say the beds are incredibly comfortable. Everything was clean. We had a small (retro-style of course) fridge in the room. And even though there was just a window unit, our room maintained a comfortable temperature. (Although it wasn't that hot. I am not sure how it would be in the summer.) I do love that they only have keypads, no actual keys, which made it really convenient to go in and out. There is also a little bistro set by the front door, which is delightful for sipping coffee (or eating your free oatmeal) in the morning. The common areas are fun, decorated with a lot of cool art and old school kitsch. The pool is heated saltwater, which is good for the cooler months, but kind of a bummer in the hotter months (aka most of the year) because it was only April but the pool felt like bathwater. You can't bring your own drinks to the pool area, but they have a lot of drinks for sale in the lobby (beer, wine, cider, no hard liquor), and the prices are quite reasonable. And the oatmeal bar in the morning is tons of fun. Service is slightly hit or miss. Some of the employees were amazing (shout out to Alex!), but some kind of felt like they were going through the motions. All in all, this is a good value motel, and I would stay there again. read more

Um.....Where do I start? This place was ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE! I rrreeeaaalllllyyyy wish I could have stayed here with a best friend(s) or loved one because it is insanely amazing, beautiful, FUN, comfortable and unique. I have stayed in countless hotels and motels throughout my life, and this one is top 5. I am 43 year old straight female for posterity's sake. Just blown away by everything, most importantly the price and value! The entire property is gorgeous! The Pool, room, gym (which also has water/ice yay!), front office/bar/lounge/eating area, walls around the property, front dog/smoking section....although please note- this is my one complaint and ask: Can you add a few benches to the front where people need to smoke and also let their dogs out....its just like a dog park. please for our sanity and demeanor. :) Anyway, plus the rooms and such have KEY CODES yay! easy peasy, texting from the hub, effortless everything and enjoyable stay to sat the absolute least, extremely friendly and cool staff....was a magical stay for me and I was alone. A friend told us about this place near downtown Tucson (we were in town for a concert at the Fox). It's pretty unique; the layout isn't fancy and all of the rooms are accessed via an outside door but the management pays attention to some interesting details that make it worthwhile. The room was clean, the water pressure was good and the wi-fi was fine. There's a bar and a restaurant. It's located off I-10, so access is easy. If you're looking for a comfortable, no-frills place to stay, this place is worth checking out. read more

We spent a couple of nights at the Hotel McCoy for Toni's birthday and it was excellent! The Hotel is an old 60s style motor lodge from back when families took trips down route 66. It has been redone to capture a feeling of comfort and good vibes. The feeling your given is one of welcome. The staff was very helpful and took care of everything for us. The offer a breakfast with your stay. Home made oatmeal with a large verity of toppings along with coffee and tea. They have a heated saltwater pool to enjoy after your days activity. Adorable 60s-style motel/hotel in Tucson. Our room was charming, painted with bright and colorful murals. The beds were comfortable and the TV good. The person who checked us in at night was very nice and helpful. The only reason I'm not giving them five stars, is because of the two staff people we dealt with in the morning and afternoon. The night manager had told us we could store our suitcases at the hotel while we went off to Antiques Roadshow for the day, no problem. The day manager was actually very rude. Made a big deal of sticking our two little suitcases in their very large storage room and kept insisting we had to pick them up by 3. (or what? they'd toss them out?) We came back earlier than expected and the afternoon manager was then seemingly very put out by having to retrieve said cases. It's a shame, because the actual hotel was very nice. read more

They sent text updates with information on check in/out and asking to de pre-check in in through the site. I did that the day before I arrived. I text back asking about VIP perks through Expedia and they stated that was only for platinum, not gold. I am a gold member. We arrived and the place is SUPER cute. I love all of the decorations and art. Check in was a breeze. We were given 2 drink coupons for a welcome cocktail. We went to our room and it was adorable. Very clean and well put together. It is small but exactly what we need for our trip. Also provided is a cute fridgidare refrigerator. In the bathroom they provided all of the amentias. This place is truly awesome and I really wanted to give it 4.5 stars. I can't in good conscience give it a 5. I'm going to tell you about the bad things first and then I'll tell you about all the other wonderful amazing things about this property. The place was very clean except for the tub. I did have to request to have that cleaned before I would get into it. And they were really great about taking care of that. The towels are white and I was told they're only two months old, but all of them are stained. I had one that had black smudges on it and I didn't wanna use that towel because I really wasn't sure how clean it actually was. They told me they would replace my towels, but when I came back to my room, it looks like my towels were just folded differently, and that black towel smudge one was in the exact same place. They weren't switched out. The sheets were very stiff and felt like they had a lot of fabric pills they were uncomfortable. The bed was so hot-I don't know if it's the mattress protector or the sheets they use. The bed would have been blissful if it wasn't so hot and it had much better sheets on it. I also sleep on slippery sateen sheets normally, maybe I'm a diva.I would bring my own sheets next time. I did bring this up at the end of my stay and I was told I could ask for other sheets, but the towels felt the same, it must be the detergent or something that they use. It just doesn't make things soft. Everything seemed really stiff. The room is a little smaller than normal hotel rooms and that's completely fine but the lighting in there is terrible. You can't read in bed. There's one light it's so dim in there. I stayed over thanksgiving so Saturday I asked the housekeeping for a room refresh since they were literally in the next room and they told me I had to talk to the front desk or something other and even though honestly I could've walked to the 50 feet over there and asked it just seemed like a hassle. I really wasn't willing to deal with. It seemed completely silly to me. So if you want your room cleaned, just tell them you want it done every day when you first check in. Now for the good stuff . I love how friendly and welcoming the staff is. If you have a problem with anything, you can pretty much ask them and they'll take care of it for you. I wanted more chalk-here you go. You get a free drink so I took advantage of that and I had a nice conversation with the bartender. I think her name is, Senia. She's lovely and fun. They have free breakfast and they have an oatmeal breakfast bar. The oatmeal is actually really good. There was also white and wheat toast, pop tarts and coffee. There is a large room to sit in with communal tables or if you want to sit at the table by yourself, there is there's games all over so this room could be used multiple ways. There's a little sitting area because if you don't spring for the bigger rooms, which I would suggest doing, you don't really have a comfy place to sit in your room. They supply with these books in there so fun. I actually read a book on my vacation. The pool is a saltwater and heated all year round. They have Floaties and there's backyard games. There's all kinds of activities and there's a food truck but that will be leaving in two weeks I heard. The art on the property is fantastic and they even had a paint and wine night on Friday that started at 3pm. I wasn't aware of it, but I wish I had if I did, I would've participated. on Saturday there were people out on the deck, which is heated by the way drumming and they invited me to join them which I thought was super cool. I passed but they did it for a few hours and they asked everyone if they wanted to join and it was very rhythmatic and trance-like-it was so cool. It's such a cool property and I'm so glad I stayed there. I'd recommend it to anyone. This hotel is honestly for everyone, families, single people, all kinds of couples-young, old, same-sex,.. it's a judgment free zone and not only our people welcome but dogs are too! If you don't like dogs or people you're gonna wanna skip this place, but if you're down for a cool experience-THIS IS IT!!! Top 3 coolest hotels I've been to. read more

I am glad I got to experience this hotel, and would recommend it to young folks with pets for an easy place to stay on their cross-country roadtrip, but I would have to be convinced to come back. It's not for me now, but I know it would've been in my college era. Starting with the goods: the local flavor is unmatched. There is no doubt that the concept was born from a person who loves Tucson and has built community here. From the murals, to the Tucson-specific named parking spaces, to the variety of stained glass and paintings for sale, the typewriters inviting you to contribute to a ghost story if there had been any paper nearby, to the local finds "vending" machine, it all feels very intentional and I love the showcase of uniqueness. Complimentary laundry was an excellent option, and EV chargers are available by the pinball room! Upon arrival, staff made me feel welcome and check-in was a breeze. I also loved my complimentary first drink of local beer, and the PM staff were just really friendly and seemed like they enjoyed being at the hotel. The rooms are nicely decorated with enough places to sit, and the beds were so comfortable. Heated pool, gallery space with cozy couches, and the bar area in general make it a great place for friend groups and meeting new people, if that's your thing. But the bads: it's kind of impossible feel clean in the room - my bare feet were black after a few minutes of shuffling around to the shower, and the towels are as thin (and small) as paper. The AC unit is incredibly loud when it kicks on. The walls are so thin, I could hear word-by-word conversations of the college students staying on the next room over. There's a LOT of dogs and while owners do their best to get them to the small area in front of the gym/laundry room, there is a prevailing smell of pee and barking while dogs make friends - we were one of the furthest from the dog area and it was still audible. And the AM lobby staff were not so welcoming - they were flustered and pulled in multiple directions the morning we left, in that they were handling everything from coffee refills, oatmeal service, checkout, and guest complaints/evictions. They were trying their best, but the hotel should consider additional staff in the mornings. Water and ice machine were also a lil on the fritz when I and others were trying to fill bottles in the AM and the single lobby staff member had to try to help us troubleshoot too. All in all, I'm not mad that I brought my family to Hotel McCoy. But I unfortunately wouldn't bring them back. read more

I don't have a handlebar mustache or wear suspenders but I do appreciate hipster aesthetic. I like funky art and irony and good coffee. What I don't like is stained linens, threadbare towels, an inroom fridge that gurgles all night, and questionable plumbing. Also, having an extremely amplified jam band doing weak Grateful Dead covers at 9pm (80+ decibels at my door) when I have a 6am flight in the morning, well, chef's kiss to that. The staff are all super friendly but have a first-day-as-an-intern skill set. The location is convenient if you work at the Amazon distribution center across the street or want to get on I-10 in less than a minute. Surprisingly comfortable mattress tho. Most fun hotel I've been to in a LOOONG time! While visiting family in Tucson I had the pleasure of checking into the best motor inn flip I'd seen in, well ever - in person at least. The reviews stood out and the photos further piqued my interest. Imagine how giddy was when it turned out to be even better yet! The exterior murals were a major highlight. I love the story of the visiting artists that graced the walls. So much character and pizazz popped with their namesake artwork. It's hard to imagine having a favorite, but driving through the entry really gave a wow factor! Checking in was a breeze and the lobby was so fun and playful. There were so many cool pieces to look at and an in house bar to boot. I was told of the amenities which included a laundry / gym, heated pool, outdoor games & fire, indoor & outdoor dining, video games on a large screen ... (just to name a few). Oh, did I mention the breakfast oatmeal bar, on site food truck, free drink token? No? All that and I haven't even gotten to the rooms yet. The rooms were a fun, vacationing Route 69 vibe of MCM with a dash of kitsch. Bold colors popped across the room with a bright yellow desk complete with vintage paperbacks to lose yourself in by the pool. A red mini fridge was the perfect size for my two day stay. Signature accessories added to the upscale motel vibe. Playful touches like a chalkboard door added whimsical charm. As an added bonus, just outside each room was a bistro set to enjoy your coffee. Having stayed mid week, my kids and I had the pool to ourselves. We ordered snacks and drinks from the bar and had the best Halloween as they played The Nightmare Before Christmas on a projector outside! Breakfast was served with fresh fruit, Pop-Tarts and your choice of local coffees or teas. I would 100% recommend staying here the next time you're in Tucson! read more

Oh dear Hotel McCoy, this review is a long time coming... by several months. Better late than never! The NUMBER ONE reason why we picked Hotel McCoy was because it is DOG FRENDLY. THANK YOU for allowing us to bring our 4-leggeds with us. Actually, my Arrow the Airedale is a dog actor-- a real thespian who performs on stage and screen. I mention this because we were in Tucson because he was "Sandy" in Annie, at the Leo Rich Theatre! And thus, for almost 2 weeks, my furry diva needed quiet, comfortable kitchenette quarters for himself and his entourage-- (my husband, myself, and his puppy brother). Hotel McCoy checked all the boxes and THEN SOME! Not only is it full of eclectic art and good vibes --comfy and inviting sunny social spaces both inside the breakfast area/ lounge, as well as out back in the fenced in yard area and delightfully whimsical 50s-era heated pool. But it also boasts a small gym (treadmill, bike), washer and dryers, free Wifi and cable tv with streaming, amd centrally located to downtown areas. Oh yes... and a lovely staff, who were all very accommodating and pleasant to talk to! Back to the dogs, since it's ALL about the dogs... although there were other dogs on the premises, the grounds were very quiet, and the staff (per my request) graciously allowed us to reserve an end suite far away from most of the crowds, because we were keeping theater hours, meaning late nights and sleeping during the day. So we very much appreciated the peace and solitude. We also appreciated the dog potty area, although my puppy was terrified of the traffic (a lot of loud trucks, an Amazon facility is down the street) zooming past. I wish there was a way to put another dog area on the opposite end of the premises which would be a bit more quiet. Perhaps a consideration/ suggestion? My favorite moments: taking photos in front of the beautiful murals all around, hanging at the pool, eating out on our wee table. It was delightful all around... thank you! read more

Loved it. When in Tucson, we will only stay at the McCoy. We're both seniors and we like adventure! If you seek the eclectic; the eccentric; then you'll be right at home with the McCoy. An overhauled mid-century modern motel turned into a very clever motel artfully decorated and up to every standard you would expect. No reason to stay in "cookie-cutter" lodging where everything is the same when we can stay in a place we'll be talking about.....for a long, long time. If the McCoy is one thing, the McCoy is NOT like anything you've experienced. I hosted a party here as well as blocked off rooms for my friends and the process was really easy. My friends and I had a great time and the staff was super friendly and helpful. They had no issue with a bit of catering I brought in, as well as balloon decorations. Management was really accommodating and made my planning that much smoother. I love the quirkiness of McCoy, from the hotel grounds, the interior decoration, the murals on the exterior walls to the murals in a lot of the rooms. The whole property is clean, the pool temperature was perfect and none of us had any issue with anything. We weren't too big on pop tarts and oatmeal for breakfast, but it's available in a pinch. We also enjoyed the food from Tran's Fats truck. We loved the wings, soup dumplings, and tots. I couldn't have chosen a better place for my friends and I to hang out and 'whoop' it up. read more

We love Hotel McCoy so much & have considered it our home base in Tucson for many years, however, we didn't quite have the same experience with it on our most recent visit. When we entered our room the AC was barely on. It was well over 100, these units are so old, the least they could have done was turn it on at a decent temp & speed to have the room cooled down when we arrived. Took 3 hours to reach a comfortable temp of 67. Then the bathroom was so dim. Bare lightbulb that hardly lit the room. The sink wasnt draining well at all. The floors were sticky & my daughter paces at night before bed & after doing so in bare feet, we were shocked to see how dirty the floor ended up being. All this with no food truck anymore (having it there made more of a difference than we realized) had us re-thinking our stays in the future. We're both really sad about it! The lack of cleanliness was our biggest issue. read more

Honestly this hotel is the reason Yelp should offer a zero or negative star option!!! The concept behind the hotel is cute but the execution is WAY off. This is AZ so it's HOT in July. But like REALLY HOT!!! So AC should be a priority. Well they have put in window air conditioners but they are all in the bathroom part of the room so not the most effective. And then you have two choices.... Be comfortable and listen to the LOUD AC or die from the heat and have some quiet. To be honest though if that was the only issue I would be ok. The bigger issue was the BUGS!!!! (See the pics if you don't believe me). I don't even know what kind of bugs but honestly it was so bad that we left and went to a different hotel!! First off, the branding here is OUT. OF. CONTROL. Any surface that can have the hotel name on it, has the hotel name on it. Exterior of the hotel which makes sense but then EVERY door mat in front of EVERY motel room or mats at the pool, gym, you name it. The hotel check-in area is overflowing w/ branded T-shirts, mugs, coffee cups...In the room, the shower curtain, the shampoo/body wash/conditioner - are all emblazoned with "Hotel McCoy" in black & white. It's tacky. I thought the emphasis was supposed to be on the art?! Not getting the hotel name on anything that's not moving. I LOVE murals & whenever I travel, I drive down alleys, trek to off the grid places, & discover them on my own adventures. So, yes, props to the concentration of murals & painted walls/buildings. But the bones of this place are still those of a cheap motel off the interstate. As they say you can put lipstick on a pig, but it's still a pig. I wish I would have found this place on our way to NM. It was exactly what I was looking for to break up our drive. If you want to stay at a motel-style place, without fear for your safety or health, this is the place for you. And they allow dogs!! Hotel McCoy is conveniently located right off Hwy 10. We rolled in sometime around 2am and although it was late, the office gal was awake and sweet. All we wanted to do was get some sleep. We pulled up to our room and opened the door. I liked the funky, simple vibe of the room. The ac was on, so the room was the perfect temperature. We slept like logs! The next morning, we woke up, took showers, took the dogs out to do their business in the designated areas on the property, then headed back on the road. Great stop. Clean rooms. Cool vibe! Cool art! So we crashed at this rad hotel in Tuscon last night. It's an old motel that's been tricked out with local art everywhere. Like, seriously, there's paintings all over the place. They even gave us a free drink token for the bar. And let me tell you, the food truck they had come by for dinner was clutch. Oh, and did I mention the pool? Ours was a short stay, but wonderful!! I love how this old hotel has been renovated. Really cool, local art in the rooms and around the property. So eclectic and fun. Staff was very friendly, room immaculately clean and the bed was comfy. Loved the oatmeal bar for breakfast and it was nice to sit in the great room with a glass of wine when we checked in. A little noisy, due to the distance to the I-10, but didn't interfere with our sleep. They do offer free earplugs or a sound machine, but we didn't need them. It's difficult not to love this place. They have "art hotel" nailed. It's pet friendly, awesome for pet owners. It's right off the freeway and on the edge of town in a totally non descriptive industrial area on the edge of town. A perfect location for travelers, also close to the regions parks and small towns. It's a fun spot with the pool and the bar. Not to mention that "we rescued an old travel lodge from destruction" vibe. While were were there the oatmeal bar was in full effect for morning grub. I always paid a little extra for the coffee, but they had a lesser complimentary coffee available. Don't forget the pop-tart! read more

This is one of the coolest hotels I've stayed at! Rooms were clean, drink chips on check in, food cart, fun murals, the pool was awesome, there are tons of indoor and outdoor games, plus all the amenities of a chain hotel. I spent 6 days in Tucson a few weeks ago for my sister's wedding and booked this little gem 4 months in advance. I booked the family room with a queen and bunk beds. We had a great stay, it was clean quiet and safe. The fan on the wall kept us up the first night but they gave us a replacement the next day. I had family book 2 other rooms for the same time and they loved it. My only small complaint was the ice machine was broke and unfortunately it's so hot out and the asphalt gets carried into the room and your feet turn black quick lol. I would definitely stay here again. read more

One of the coolest hotels I've ever had the pleasure of staying at. Book confidently as you're very likely to receive awesome service, a comfortable and fun stay, and a fond memory. I'll try to keep it brief but this hotel offers a lot of awesome amenities/perks/fun treats: -Art by local artists all around -Book shop on site -A complimentary oatmeal bar in the morning -Amazing tamales for sale in the lobby (seriously, don't miss them) -A bar with beer and wine that is open late (and 2 tokens for free drinks) -A heated pool and awesome patio -Chalkboard in room to write and doodle -Easy and ample parking (not assigned) The rooms were cute and clean. There was a refrigerator but no microwave in our room. There are microwaves in the lobby. However, there was a list of things you could request, if desired (including a sound machine). Cool. In addition to the fantastic art aspect, I really appreciated how guest-focused everything was. The late hours for the bar/pool were awesomely generous. The service was mostly friendly and I definitely got a vibe that if you had any issues with your stay, they'd take care of you. read more

4th time staying here last Wednesday just finding time right now to write the review. But it's always a fantastic stay no matter the time of year, something is always happening at the McCoy! Always my choice of stay when coming to Tucson. Can't wait to visit the two other locations!
