******BUYER BEWARE--DO NOT STAY HERE******* Before you read on, I want you to know that this is an authentic review from an authentic person. I thoroughly read the reviews for this place and noted the boilerplate responses from the hotel manager, Mr. A (who has been stalking my reviews and who I fully expect to write a rebuttal to this review). I ignored the adage "where there's smoke, there's fire" and spent so much money here under the assumption that the good reviews were legitimate and the bad reviews were illegitimate. Sestri Levante is a charming town and there are countless wonderful hotels that don't charge guests €300 for them to sleep in a windowless attic and call it a "Royal Suite" or a "Junior Suite" (we eventually stayed at the Hotel Balbi and the bathrooms were bigger than the "room" we stayed in for 25 percent less than a "suite" here). UNLESS YOU ARE COMFORTABLE PAYING WALDORF ASTORIA PRICES FOR A MOTEL SIX, DO. NOT. STAY. HERE. Words can't describe the experience we had here. I've travelled extensively and honestly NEVER ENCOUNTERED AN EXPERIENCE LIKE THIS. We were given an ATTIC ROOM WITH NO WINDOWS, a slanted roof that did not fit my 6 foot height and the entrance to which required a precarious walk along an unfinished walkway outside. None of this was disclosed when we booked this. They consider this a normal room in this hotel, it was not a discounted room, WE BELIEVED WE WERE BOOKING A NORMAL ROOM. The room was sweltering hot due to it being the attic in a tiny tiny room. When we checked in, we initially raised our concern with the front desk clerk and she apologized and assured us that they could move us rooms the following morning. The next morning, we came down to change rooms and were COMPLETELY GASLIGHTED BY THE STAFF. They first refused to change rooms, then they pivoted and wanted to shift us into a new room each morning so that we would have moved each day of our three night stay. If you do make the mistake of staying here, DO NOT LEAVE THEM WITH YOUR CAR. The parking is not on site and they are not at all careful with guests' cars. I left something in my rental so I asked to access it. A "valet" walked me about 6 blocks and offered to drive me back to the hotel with my bag, which I thought was nice. IT TURNED OUT THAT HE DROVE ME IN ANOTHER GUEST'S CAR!!! Want to know how I learned that? THE VALET LEFT MY CAR KEYS IN THAT GUEST'S CAR AND DROVE TO ANOTHER CITY!! read more

We stayed here for 2 nights during a recent trip to the Italian coast. It was a lovely time albeit, I don't know that the accommodations justified the cost. It was about a 15-minute walk from the Sestri Levante train station to the entrance of the hotel. We arrived early and they already had our room ready which was so appreciated. We got settled into our sea view suite. Overall, the accommodations were quite nice. This room was big enough to easily accommodate a family of four as it included a private bedroom with king bed, two full bathrooms, and a living area that included a pullout bed. Our room never got cold enough to enjoy a bath in the heat of Italian summer but I didn't lose any sleep over it. The hotel has a private beach that includes beach chairs and umbrellas during your stay. The Bay of Silence is something special and the hotel's proximity to the water was divine. WiFi worked down here which was great. We didn't dine at the upscale restaurant (reservations recommended) but we had breakfast each morning. The buffet was scrummy and included a wide choice of cheeses, bread, biscuits, meats, and drinks. You can also order eggs to order. Here's where Hotel Miramare fell a little flat for me. We paid $500+ each night to stay here which was a significant splurge for us. One of the bathroom sinks didn't drain, there wasn't a lampshade on the light in the same room, and a large paneling fell off one of the doors. For some reason, we didn't receive maid service during our second day. Also, describing this as a sea view room was a bit misleading. There were shutters that limited what we could see. None of these things would have phased me staying at a lesser hotel but I expected excellence for the cost. For this reason, I doubt we will return. There are many hotels in Sestri Levante but only a handful on the Bay of Silence. While Miramare has an impressive location, I wasn't wowed by service or overall accommodations. read more

Beautiful hotel! The breakfast was a good selection and the beach is clean with enough chairs (we did not visit in high season) The location is in a cove with a public beach and within walking distance of the train station. We visited Cinque Terre, Portifino and Chiavri - easy commutes! Only complaint is that the beds are rock hard and if you aren't facing the ocean (more expensive), the restaurant is extremely loud at night! read more

This was probably one of my best hotel experiences ever. Our room was a beautiful and looked out on the Baia del Silenzio. At night it was quiet except for the sound of the waves. I was very pleased to find that a crib had already been set up in our room before we checked in. The staff was exceptional. Everyone had a strong grasp of exceptional customer service and worked hard to assure our stay was great. Claudia at the front desk was especially wonderful. She gave us great recommendations and assisted us in arranging our train schedule when we departed. The location was great. It was right on the water and close to a lot of greet restraunts, shops, and gelato shops. The breakfast was amazing. It was a continental breakfast on steroids. Everything from cereal to bread to cured meats and cheese. They also had several gluten free options. Then there were the wonderful servers who continued to bring out cappuccinos and espresso. This is a great place to stay and it's easy to explore Cinque Terre and Portofino from here. read more

If you are visiting Cinque Terre, this is the place to stay. The hotel was very clean and located in a cove with a private beach. The views were amazing. The hotel is also located within walking distance of the train station (10 minute walk) from there you can take all the trains to the different towns. Also they had a very nice breakfast every morning. The staff is very helpful and spoke pretty good english. There was lots of shops and places to eat everywhere as soon as you step out of the hotel. Our only complaints would be: 1. WiFi was kind of spotty and you had to connect every time you woke your phone up. 2. The walls are paper thin so we could here a lot of the people working in the back of a restaurant. So ask for a room facing the water. 3. There are no taxi's readily available before 7am so make arrangements the night before if you need one. Good luck read more

The roads were closed due to the infamous Giro D'Italia Cycling Race coming that just went through. We just missed it as we were travelling friends m Switzerland. I walked to the hotel and was greeted by lovely Tina who recommended that Albert accompany me to where the car was parked and drive us to the hotel. That worked and the policeman let us through. Loved our stay! Location is right on the beach! Dining view is amazing! Staff is the best! read more

Hotel is outstanding, I will come back as many times as I can, four stars but the room features and service go in the direction of five hotel stars. Restaurant: incredibly romantic view on Baia del Silenzio, very friendly service. We had grilled fish which you could choose from a rich seafood selection on a tray, tasted real good. "Only" four stars because for what they offer it is just too pricy (something I find happens in many hotel restaurants) read more
