For breakfast, they have every type of meat you could imagine, cheeses, breads, American breakfast, yogurts with fruits.. champagne, coffee and juices.. they pull all the stops out. I'm also a big fan of the sauna and steam room areas. The gym is upscale and is well followed by some time in the heated spa areas. I look forward to dinner in the restaurant later this week.

Private rooms (at least in my case) share bathrooms…read more Not a big deal, as there seemed to be enough bathrooms, and they were cleaned daily and seemed to stay pretty clean throughout the full week of my stay. Pros: courtyard, lobby seating, quiet hours enforced, friendly staff (exception: Sunday-AM girl was working harder than anyone I've ever seen to ignore a queue of guests, requiring us to verbally interrupt her to get her attention even for a moment - everyone else was superbly kind and helpful!). Cons: as in much of Germany, the wifi infrastructure for the bandwidth demands are outstripped by the needs of the customers - consequence: internet was spotty except for in the lobby, and sometimes it crashed altogether (it seemed frequently to emit dead signals to the room areas of the hostel/hotel). The cost (at €43/nt) was competitive with all comparables but is not an amazing deal for the overall picture. It depends: The beds are firm, which I prefer. If you like a soft bed, this is not a comfy situation for you. And no AC, but plenty of air flow, so it didn't matter for me in mid June.

After 10 pm, you need to enter a different way as it is both a hotel and short term residence so it doesn't have 24 hour reception as you would expect at a hotel. The place is modern and has a cool vibe. Our room had a king size bed and then around a room divider all there was a twin bed and mini bar with a small refrigerator. The bathroom had a large walk in shower and amenities. It also had a heated towel rack. There was a hairdryer and scale in the closet. The housekeeping was fine. I really enjoyed the breakfast buffet which was included in our room rate. They had cold cuts and cheeses, an assortment of breads, yogurt and scrambled eggs, beans and bacon or vegetables. The person manning the dining room was very friendly and efficient. I would recommend this hotel for someone who wants a clean, safe place to stay in a terrific location and who doesn't need to be in a traditional hotel.

If you want more of a modern city vibe, I would check out lodging closer to the zoo and Tiergarten. Can't give it a five stars even though it is fairly priced. They did not have much toiletries, and the rooms are small. It would be a bit tight for two unless you just crash in the room. I did appreciate having a door size window to peer over the city. The concierge was helpful. There are perks for those who sign up for their member program. It is a popular motel so if you check in late afternoon there is usually a queue.

Staff was extremely friendly & helpful. We didn't pay extra for the breakfast since there wasn't anything listed as vegan (or vegan-option) on the website. Our room was extremely warm though, and no turning down of the thermostat seemed to change that. Most nights we slept on TOP of the covers due to the heat.

They managed to be comfortable AND practical, the bathrooms were large compared to most European bathrooms I've seen, and the water pressure/temp in the showers was excellent. The beds were comfortable even though the pillows were too feathery to really hold up my head. I had to ask for an extra and fold them both in two to get any support. But that aside, even the mini-bar was tasteful. - The breakfast buffet was so delicious that I had zero interest in trying to find another breakfast option. The woman who worked most days there was so attentive and knew my drink order and room number by the second day. The variety was VERY impressive, the food was fresh, and it was just a great way to start the day. - Location is right by public transit. Easy to get to, even from the airport. - Wifi worked in my room (not in every room, I heard) so I was all set. A very nice choice!

I also got a "bid what you want" upgrade to a room on a high floor overlooking the street. The layout for the 2nd tier room is small but perfectly functional for a single traveler or couple, and I loved the thoughtful touches like a small chair in the bathroom, umbrella in the room with a holder, and hooks on the wall near the closet. The (nonalcoholic) drink minibar is free to take from and refilled daily which is another plus! And they had small chocolates that were refilled daily as well. I didn't partake in any breakfast or other food, but it did look good when I passed by. The garden area outside is nice to relax or work in. The hotel itself is on a quieter street but near many different modes of public transit - tram, bus, subway. The front desk warned me about needing coins for the tram / bus and was happy to exchange some bills into coins for me every morning as well. Not many taxis passing by but the front desk will call one for you very quickly if you ask. There are also bikes and scooters you can borrow. Overall I had a great stay and would have loved to stay longer! I had to move to another hotel for work, but wish I could have stayed at the i31.

They provided us with directions when needed, made good food suggestions and helped me secure a bagel when I crawled on over desperate for one because this was during a time of my life where bagels were my crack. Our room was tiny by hotel room standards, but by NY apartment status it was like a small studio. The bathroom and "bedroom" had a shared door which took us awhile to figure out because it was confusing and unlike anything either of us had ever seen. After a collective "Ooohhhhhhh!!!" moment we figured it out and were able to take showers and brush our team simultaneously in the bathroom without it being awk. Yay almost 180° revolving bathroom door! This is definitely one of the more cost-efficient hotels in Berlin, but you wouldn't know it because of its sleek modern look. I loved this place, totally recommend it and would totally come back.
