It wasn't the stuffy, uncomfortable, and overly formal style of luxury - it was a perfect blend of making me feel spoiled yet also at home. The rooms were large with big windows, a well lit bathroom with great ceiling vent, huge showers with hot water and good pressure. The beds were comfortable and gave me a great night's rest after a day of travel. The city of Vigo is generally walkable and this hotel is near several shops and restaurants so it was a great location. We stayed here one night and then hit the Camino de Santiago the next morning. I especially liked the in room nespresso, and automatic window shades; not something I expected. More importantly the room was quiet and the shades helped with the sun. My only complaint is the bed was quite firm and pillows not great. Although to be fair they have a pillow menu so had I not been lazy, that could have been alleviated. If included in your room package, you get 1 hour at the pool per day but it has to be scheduled. That I found quite counter intuitive to relaxation however I do appreciate that the pool and hot tubs were never busy as a result of the scheduling. The location is perfect of course and close to many things to do. My review may be quite biased as I wasn't footing the bill but the price really wasn't bad for a 5 star hotel; far less than many 3-4 star hotel in the states and I would pay it myself if I was looking for a relaxing hotel room.

Conveniently located close to the center of town, there is plentiful AC and a small elevator to boot. Love the modern yet warm ambiance and the backyard pool area is amazing. In the back area, there is a converted hórreo, the traditional elevated granary in Galicia, complete with glass walls and supplied with a hammock. I loved hanging out here after being in the pool. The pool area has a table with umbrella and lounge chairs. My friend and I bought wine, cheese and olives to enjoy poolside! There is a nearby large grocery store for buying snacks, etc. The room we had did not have its own bathroom so we shared with one other room. Honestly, it wasn't a big hassle. You just have to lug your toiletries there and it was a few feet away from the door. There is a self-serve breakfast, I think it was 11€ or so? But I prefer to eat at the nearby cafes. The staff speak English here! Would stay again.

San Amaro offers several places you can have a drink or diner: next to the swimming pool, on the balcony, on the patio or inside a refurbished "horreo", a typical building you will find everywhere in Galicia. The breakfast is suberb, no standard hotel food; fresh fruit, breads and pastelles. The view from the breakfast room is magnificent; overlooking the vineyards and surroundings. This place is really special and if you are looking for a special hotel to spend a view nights in total relaxation: this is the palace to be! (€95,-/€160,- depending on season and room).

Cambados is a great place to start exploring Galicia and all its beautiful things to see. Hotel O…read moreLagar is good 2 star hotel and place to stay. Why? It's location is central, but quiet. It's just a few minutes walk from the seafront, the boulevard, Plaza Fefiñanes and other squares. The owners are really kind, making it feel more like a bed and breakfast and honoring the description "hotel familiar". The rooms have a good standard and the prices are really good (€45-60, depending the season). A few years ago when we stayed her, we got very ill from eating a lot of different seafood mixed with a lot of different alcoholic drinks (... oops, our own fault) and when we got home to the hotel the owner immediately noticed this. She made us rice water (the water in which the rice is boiled), supposedly a secret Galician miracle drink for stomach illness. It seemed to help. The day before the cleaner had put our wet shoes in the sun on the French balcony. What a service! It has a small cafe on the ground floor: cafeteria Bodegón with a nice view on the church. When wanting a cheaper and less touristy hotel (like the Parador) as a fallout base for exploring the country during the day, this hotel serves the purpose.
