This is despite asking up front if it was ok to just sit for coffee. Well sir, wish granted! Better yet, not coming back at all. I do have one cardinal rule of travel that I follow for a reason (but somehow forgot about and broke for this one): it is to avoid restaurants with pictures in the menu (or people outside trying to funnel you in). This was one of them.

The pizza is delicious here and I would highly recommend their lasagna. The gelato is crazy in this town. They pile it high on your cone, but this restaurant gives you a normal serving size and it's perfect. Not to much, but amazing taste. I have no problem eating here each time I'm Sirmione.

The spaghetti carbonara, a seemingly simple and staple italian food, was barely edible. We're fairly certain it was produced from a can, and the "pancetta" served with it was quite literally, microwaved pieces of ham. To put it into perspective, the carbonara sauce was yellow. Not like yellowish, not a dark shade of white, like kraft dinner yellow. I think id rather eat cardboard than another order off this menu. If you value your current respect for italian food, run the other direction because I may have PTSD after this total disaster of an experience. Hugo spritz was ok, hence the 1 star.

The food, traditional and modern Italian fare (including fish from the lake) was excellent and the service was superb with our waiter on our first visit taking time to translate the menu for us and doing his utmost to help us throughout the meal.
