Not all the rooms here are created equal, in the fact the hotel has a significant number of suites which all have their own character. The property is expansive and service is attentive to every detail. The rotonde is where a magnificent seaside breakfast is served each morning. It feels like you're in a history museum and it has to leave. Be sure to book a room with an ocean view- you won't regret it. There are two pools at the property one indoor pool and an outdoor one. Given the sizes of these they rarely feel highly occupied. Love the hallway carpeting with the distinct shade of blue scattered with bumble bees which I think is the same as the guerlain logo.

The Sofitel Biarritz Le Miramar is obviously a renowned luxury hotel around Biarritz. We spent…read morethere 5 nights and enjoyed it. The staff is willing to have you enjoy your stay. However there are several weak points to be aware of. First weakness : the building itself is of a weird design, like a cruise ship : many of the rooms, if not a majority of them, except the suits, have barely a view. It is too bad given the beautiful location facing the ocean shore. Even with "room with partial ocean view", one can barely enjoy this view. Second weakness : the interior design of the entrance and bar area of the hotel makes it not intimate at all. It is much more like a hallway than a hotel. Thus, for people enjoying boutique hotels, this is absolutely not an hotel they would like. Third weakness : the "huge" feature of the hotel with service not always at the top. We had a service issue in our room and due to a bad coordination with the front desk and guest relation desk, our issue could not be dealt on a timely and satisfactory manner. We gave a precise feedback to the guest relation desk, and thought they would sort out this issue. They did not and did not provide us with a response, which was annoying when we found out that they did not sort out the issue we had been facing. Indeed, the hotel has a lot of staff on training : one has the impression these people on training are not well managed, while being too much on the front line with clients. This can give this impression of "à peu près", which is not acceptable for such a high-standard hotel.

From our hotel, we could watch swimmers and surfers right from our room, along with some spectacular sunsets. The decor is contemporary European boutique with a minimalist coastal design. It fits beautifully with the Basque coastal setting and Biarritz's relaxed seaside character. However, some travelers may find the lack of drawers or cabinets for clothing inconvenient, as most of the storage is open. The bathroom also has an open, see-through door, which may not appeal to everyone. We booked a Superior Double Room with Ocean View and Balcony. Although the room itself was spacious, the balcony was quite small and did not have chairs. Our room was 116, which offered wonderful side views of the water and beach. On a future visit, we would upgrade to one of the corner rooms with a larger balcony and outdoor seating, which would make it much easier to sit outside and enjoy the view. The staff were very friendly, helpful, and accommodating. One especially nice touch was their willingness to prepare cappuccinos and coffee to take with us in the morning. The coffee shops in the area generally opened later than we needed before the start of our tours, so having the hotel staff prepare coffee for us was extremely convenient. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay. The location, views, friendly staff, and relaxed coastal atmosphere made Hotel de la Plage a wonderful base for exploring Biarritz and the Basque Country.

Our room was impeccably clean and charming with chic yet cozy decor. While these features are worth noting, it was the staff that truly optimized our experience. We arrived a bit late and past the official closing time but regardless of this we were greeted with the most warm and friendly welcome. We were given a full tour, assisted with our luggage, and overall made to feel truly welcomed. They were overall beyond professional and kind! Highly recommend.

The cooked breakfast items were cold every morning, and the layout of the breakfast buffet is very illogical meaning diners are wandering aimlessly trying to find the milk, which isn't with the cereal, or the butter which is not with the preserves, or breads. Nice hotel, but dining needs to be sorted.
