Why still 3 stars, it's the view and if you are somewhere near it might be worth a visit but its not a place of excursion if you need to travel more than 50km. And if you have seen it once, there is no need to see it again...

We ate in the restaurant in the evening which was very expensive but also very good. Our breakfast was included in the price of the hotel and it was absolutely delicious. I would recommend this hotel for families as the waterpark (comparable to Great Wolf Lodge) adjoins just a short walk away. Also connected to the hotel, a grocery store, liquor store, restaurants, DD Dunkin Donuts and much more. Shopping at an American style mall is minutes away as well. Our teenager had a great time at the waterpark- so did we. We also loved exploring St Gallen and Bodensee in Rorschach, about 15-20 min away.

I wish they provided the typical hot water kettles and tea bags that we all have come to expect plus the iron and the board in each room. The breakfast selections, quality, seatings, and service was very very nice. Much higher than average. And for me the highlight of my stay. Will I stay here again, yes for sure. And BTW forgot to mention, enjoyed the small and perfectly located exercise room on the 6th floor with a window you can open to enjoy the fresh morning air coming off the review/lake nearby. Didn't get a chance to try the sauna though! There was a nominal extra charge for it.

Four stars instead of five only because I had to check out early due to a family emergency and the hotel still charged me for the extra night.

The value is good given what they charge for accomodations and food. The restaurant in particular has impressed me, and I really enjoy the "Maultaschen." Friedrichshafen is a beautiful city, especially in the warmer months, and provides access to all that the Lake Constance Region can offer. Hotel Goldener Hirsch is a great "home base" for a visit.

The service was very friendly, the morning buffet breakfast was vast by most standards, the waterfront location was incredibly scenic and set up perfectly for a lakeside resort. Definitely see if you can get a room that overlooks the lake. The downtown area is right across the road and where you have access to restaurants, shopping and historical sites. This hotel also had many bikes for rent which is a perfect way to tour this town and scenic lakeside roads. The only thing to note is that our beds had very firm mattresses, however they were comfortable even though I have a softer mattress at home. I highly recommend staying here. Ask for a room that looks over the water

The hotel is an old monastery with centuries of history and lore. Terrific breakfast buffet and very efficient staff. While the low end rooms are small, they can often be booked for 100 euros which is a bargain. Parking is reasonable and much appreciated. Swear I saw a few spirits one night in a dark hallway but might have been all the grappa! Would stay again in a heartbeat!
