There is a bike trail you can take to get into the city or ride the roads, as many people there are biking, there are bike lanes. The breakfast buffet was your typical european with pastries, meats, cheese, breads, cereals, yogurt. Along with the buffet, you can order eggs, cooked as you choose. There is no air conditioning, though there was a fan in the room. WIth the cooler night temp, open window and the fan, it was sufficient. I don't know if that would be the case on a very hot day. One tip - we were in room 14, which is on the back of the building. If it is summer and you are going to have the windows open, if other guests are leaving very early and you aren't planning to get up early, the noise from them in the parking lot can carry up a bit. Unfortunately, their restaurant was closed the week we were there, so we didn't get to try it!

Upon check-in, we found Zoe to be an excellent ambassador for the hotel. Not only did she handle our check-in (five rooms, total) quickly, she remembered our names and greeted us by name as we passed during the course of our visit. Our rooms were very nice, if appointed in a style that was a bit out of date. The rooms had a desk and chair, though not a proper "task chair" for those who want or have to work from their room. The power outlets for our travelling electronic were also right next to the floor -- not particularly convenient. The hotel does NOT have an on-site bar or lounge, and the restaurant with its €25 per person breakfast buffet is not open past breakfast. There are several other bakeries and restaurants nearby, but we prefer to go out when we WANT to, which is not necessarily for every meal. Finally, the hotel is located on a busy intersection right next to the Mirabelle Gardens. Opening windows because the air conditioning is shut off in the winter allows all sorts on noise inside, so ask for a room on the courtyard for a quieter stay.

We speak very little German so we appreciated how well the employees spoke English. Our suite had a very private balcony with a stunning view. The luxury robes and spa bag were appreciated. Ordering room service was a smooth process every time. The nightstand had a small wooden mountain to place on your bed if you wanted housekeeping to change the linens - that was a nice touch. The small things never go unnoticed. The breakfast buffet and the Johann Grill were absolutely phenomenal. I cannot say enough about the restaurant staff. They are simply the best - especially the breakfast hostess, Rada. She went above and beyond to remember our names and make us feel at home each and every day. The lobby and valet employees were very kind. They even scheduled our taxi back to Munich for us. We also really enjoyed the lobby bar. We highly recommend the strawberry cheesecake cocktail and the golden rush! They also have food options available. One evening we enjoyed a nice quiet dinner in their outdoor courtyard on one of the swinging benches facing the mountains! The hotel includes a city transportation pass for your stay. But the walk to the bus stop wasn't as easy as we hoped. However, it was understandable since we were staying at the top of the mountain. The bus schedule was sometimes inconvenient. The last bus seemed to run around 6pm every night so we were unable to enjoy dinners in the city like we hoped. Mozarts birthplace, the Cathedral, great restaurants and shopping. This charming hotel combines medieval charm with contemporary comfort. Housed in a 16th-century coppersmith workshop the hotel has the original stone floors and stylish modern décor. Service is exceptional. Ulriki, treated us with personal 5 star service. When we arrived she greeted with warm towels and a glass of Prosecco. She personally escorted us to our room which was wonderful. The complimentary mini bar was filled with water and soft drinks. The explanation future guests need regards the unloading and parking part. There is no place to unload your car in front of the hotel. There is a side street immediately to the left of the entrance as you're sailing around the 'round about. Turn right there and you'll find 3-5 spaces on the right shoulder of the road depending upon how busy it is. Unload there and the staff will bring out a cart. The parking garage is 5 mins away by car (all one way streets, a bit of a maze), 10 minutes at least on foot, and is not easy to find. Look for the Hotel Imlauer sign on the wall, it's only about 6" x 6", so keep your eyes peeled. Once you're there, it all makes sense! Just hang in there! We do recommend Hotel Imlauer in Salzburg! The Watzmann Mountain range in the Bavarian Alps, including the Watzmannfrau (wife) and Watzmannkinder (children) were initially shrouded in clouds but they would lift and expose amazing mountains and views! We spent quite a bit of time the first morning just taking pictures! Breakfast was included for an extra charge and was the typical German breakfast of bread, marmalade, butter, cereals of every kind, cold cuts, fruit, yogurt, digestive cookies, nutella. Breakfast alone accounted for a good portion of the calories eaten each day. There are several restaurants down the street, Gasthof Bodner for typical German fare and Pizzeria Jolly right next door for some good Italian food. We used this hotel as a base to travel to Salzburg by bus and to see Berchtesgaden. Don't forget to get coupon cards upon check in as it saves you a few Euro here and there for bus and entrance fees. Though if I was ever fortunate to come to this area of Germany again I might try a different hotel in order to get a more comfortable bed. But this one definitely met our needs for this trip.

They have a great breakfast area on the ground floor under some beautiful arched ceilings. They also have these quaint patio areas nestled on the back of the hotel. They overlook the old city and provides a great place to bring your cafe. The hosts also provided flowers and champagne for my fiancée's birthday and that was very well received. I highly recommend staying at Hotel Amadeus in the future.
