This area doesn't compare to the worst places in the US, however I can see why people don't like this area. It's not great, and there's lots of people standing around from homeless to junkies but the hotel is pretty clean, but it's super small so if you have a big suitcase, that could take up the space of the entire room. If you're staying in Frankfurt for a few days I would recommend finding elsewhere to stay. It's just a sketchy area. Besides that, the room was clean, shower was nice, and they had breakfast with the stay and the breakfast offering was quite nice actually, so that's a bonus for me.

We cleaned up & walked to a local eatery ( lots across the street and within a 10 minute walk) I'd suggest you avoid walking great distances on the street after sun goes down as there seemed to be a number of homeless and sketchy dudes hanging about, but we got thru with very little harassment from beggars for $. UBER delivered us right to the front door. There is an elevator but it's a small 2 person with luggage deal. There was a small cocktail lounge area but we didn't partake. Breakfast bar was GREAT and a much more lashing spread than American continental style hotels. All staff spoke English. The Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof is maybe a 2 min walk away and does take you to the airport as well. Easy peasy!!

Train station and bus line are very close but they both require a quick transfer to the airport. There is only a few options for food within a quick walking distance, but what we found was quite nice. The included breakfast was outstanding. For the overall price I thought I was at a much more expensive hotel.

When we returned, the hotel staff LOCKED US OUT due to the rapidly increasing hostility and violence in the large gathering immediately outside the hotel. This left us stuck in the middle of the building chaos. I have never felt so unsafe. We immediately left the hotel and went elsewhere. When I contacted the hotel for a refund they told me "We are unable to refund the costs for your stay. Due to this current situation and the associated challenges, we cannot accommodate every refund request, as this would significantly impact our financial standing." The Manhattan Hotel knows their guests are unsafe and would rather prioritize financial gain over the safety. Absolutely shameful. If you value your safety and the safety of your children and loved ones I beg you to stay ANYWHERE else.
