Location couldn't be better:…read moreright at the lake, surrounded by peaceful forest, within walking distance to a lake beach, kayak rental, and with two restaurants and spa on premises. Morning breakfast was a feast with a variety of breads, cheeses, meats. Spa offered a broad range of services at affordable prices, all day pool and sauna access. Everyone spoke perfect English and all staff were helpful and pleasant. A few tips: on-site parking is pricey, so park your car right outside the hotel. Bike rentals were also expensive per hour, but there were other rental shops in the vicinity. For dinner - try the hotel restaurant one night and then venture out to the town. The menu in the restaurant is quite standard, modern Polish cuisine. There is also ice cream served on a platform on the lakeshore during summertime.

So imagine a country with a crumbling, dated economy, that nonetheless invests a ton of money into…read moremany vacation resorts for the employees of different, state-owned factories, schools, universities as well as the government agencies itself... So they build these huge, concrete buildings in various parts of the country, roads leading to them, they connect them to water and electricity... The economic sense does not matter as the economy is supposed to be centrally planned and completely controlled. As well as the place where the people will be assigned to spend their vacation after the days of hard work for the motherland. So, 30 years after the collapse of this country, Poland is spotted with these old resorts, all resembling one another. Some well-cared of, modernized and even pretty comfy, some fallen into disrepair, but all unmistakably belonging to the same era. "Energetyk" is surely one of them. A lot of work was put into saving it from ruin and now it is not in a bad shape. Private owners took it from the hands of a state-owned entity and try to make some money out of it. So, it's not a five-star hotel, it's something closer to a boarding house, but the location is great - right on the lakeshore. School-like cafeteria is serving some good, Polish cuisine and there are tables on the terrace where you can sip your cofee or beer and admire the lake - Jezioro Rajgrodzkie. You can rent a boat or a pedalo as well. Probably good as a lodging for the conference participants or something similar.
