Uppsala Hotel is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in Sweden (and maybe Europe). Their cleaning woman broke my cosmetics by dropping it from the table and she put it back on the table while she was cleaning my room. When I returned the room and found her, she did not mention that she broke my cosmetics. I found it after she left and reported to the general manager. The general manager admitted that the cleaning woman was the only person who entered my room during my absence. However, she said that to have the hotel to pay for cosmetics, I had to show her the receipt of my cosmetics, which I bought more than a year ago (!). Who carries a receipt a year ago when one travels abroad? I reported something was also lost in my room, but they did not look into this. The manager was absolutely a bitch.
Then after she found I was an important guest of the local institution, she suddenly started to say I did not have to show her the receipt or anything. She said she would order the same product for me, but she did NOT for a long time.
Therefore, I reported this to the headquarter, COO and CEO of Profil Hotel. They both ignored me and wrote to me that they trust the general manager, not me, while they never accepted a meeting with me to let me explain the situation. Finally, I had to go to the tourist info to let them call the hotel, and then the general manager finally paid the amount to me.
This is not the only problem, but the hotel did all sorts of mean things after I reported the broken cosmetics. They stopped cleaning my room and supplying toilet paper, shampoo, soap, etc, during the rest of my stay for 3 weeks. They kept knocking the door though I had a tag, "Do not disturb". I cannot write all here, but they were trying to make me leave the hotel. I wanted to leave, but they refused to pay me back what I paid in advance on my arrival.
I hear the hotel is closing this fall and convert it to a student accommodation. The hotel has bad reputation already, so cannot run anymore. Uppsala has a shortage of student accommodation, but I do not recommend this company to students. I am sure they will suck students as they do to hotel customers. There are already some floors rented to students, but they complain a lot. It had only one washing machine for hundreds of students (and hotel customers) for a long time (while the other one was broken and unfixed). There are bugs in the kitchens, etc. read more
