It was fairly last minute and ended up being in the annex building for Hotel Alminar. Initially, I was disappointed that the annex did not have the little luxuries of staying in the main building (no wifi connection, no phone in-room). Quickly though, the feeling of having my own little "apartment" in the city (view of the Giralda from the deck included) made up for all that was lacking. As for the wifi -- it was no bother to go to the Hotel's main lobby to check emails and browse online because I looked forward to seeing Francisco and Maria so much every day (for both their pleasantries as well as their good suggestions of where to go each day, what to see, and where to eat). Lastly, the location of Hotel Alminar can't be beat! Just one block away from the Catedral, and within a short walk to shopping, Barrio Santa Cruz, the waterfront... Still, located on a smaller side-street so that there is none of the noise and bustle from the late-night crowds while trying to sleep.

Our honest review. Cons:- There is a tiny amount of black material in one small corner of the shower. Yup that's it. Positives:- We arrived late in the day, 9:45pm and were greeted by Jose Angel (I'm sorry if I have your name wrong) in a large spacious comfortable looking lobby with attached bar and lounge. This young man was friendly, courteous and very helpful. He asked about our trip and and suggested some sights we might wish to take in during our stay, we thanked him and I mentioned it was my wife's birthday the next day and we were looking forward to celebrating in Seville. We got to our room to find the mini fridge was cold, the AC was terrific, a huge TV on the wall and a lovely comfortable bed with great pillows. The bathroom is larger and has a good shower. The view from the large window that could be opened on either side was of the city, but we are surrounded by city, so it would be the same from any room. The room was quiet and dark at night and we both slept very well. We took the included breakfast at the hotel, and while it hasn't been the biggest buffet or the most varied buffet, it was very good. They offered everything required for a really good breakfast, breads and pastries, cheeses and meats, fruits and juices, eggs, sausages, bacon and mixed vegetables. Like every other hotel, coffee was from a machine, it was ok. We were within walking distance of a great many sights to be enjoyed so we spent the day enjoying them. On our return, the room was cleaned and there was a small birthday gift left for my wife on the writing table. A truly delightful touch that really meant a lot to us, being away from our family and children during my wife's birthday. Above and beyond. Thank you to Jose and all of the staff at Hesperia Hotel. We will remember this visit as one of our best this summer.

The room door was heavy which definitely helped with soundproofing. There was a nice desk and mini sofa in the room too. Staff at reception were very friendly and helpful. Small but functional gym in the basement, but had more than just cardio machines. It even had free laundry machines (you have to provide your own detergent although there's a supermarket within walking distance). There's a tiny market next to reception within the hotel as well. We didn't have breakfast included for this stay, but it looked quite extensive so would probably opt for that next time! The main downside for this hotel is the location is not walkable to the Seville tourist sites, but a taxi/rideshare to city center was affordable. Would absolutely come back and stay here again -- value was excellent for the price and quality of the room itself.

Two nights in Sevilla, Spain, at NH COLLECTION was a great stay, but it did have its minuses. It is…read morelocated about 3 miles from the hustle and bustle, so a taxi is required to get to the city center. Our room #502 had terrific amenities with a view of the roundabout. Very quiet, so any real activity is going to be about a half a mile walk (~15 mins). Or, public pay bikes are available at the crosswalk with the first 30 minutes being free. Sevilla is very much bike friendly, so on that note, be sure to keep clear of the green bike pathways on the sidewalk. The food at the breakfast buffet was not much of a variety compared to what we experienced at previous hotels. I do like the fact that they had attendants assisting with the espresso machine! Most restaurants didn't open until 8:30pm, so plan accordingly. Taxis are about 8 EUR to/from the city center. No laundromat on site, but they do offer the service at much higher fees. We ended up walking about a mile to do a load for 7 EUR.

The other thing that is of concern is the discrepancy between the information I received from the front desk and another guest's experience; I was told the water, coffee, and tea left on the counter were complimentary, but she was charged 6 Euros for the water and it was only a small bottle! The bed was the widest bed we've had so far in our 5 city stay in Spain. And the best thing of all was their pillow service. For this pillow snob, nothing can be better than this to ensure a decent nights rest. Breakfast offered was a great selection of fruits, cold and hot meats, pastries and my husband claims that their croissants are almost as good as the ones he had in Paris. The hotel also offered coffee and tea service in the room which was unusual in most of the boutique hotels we've stayed so far in Spain. Last but not least is the location. Although situated in a bonafide Seville neighborhood, it is at most only a ten minute walk from the Alcazar and the Cathedral. And at night you get to mingle and eat with the locals. You get the best of both worlds.
