The staff are kind and helpful. After checking in, a woman walked us over toward our "apartment" room, which we booked for the extra space since our adult daughter was traveling with us. To get to the room, we had to walk through a back door into another building, go upstairs (there is an old caged elevator if you need one), through another locked door to get to the apartment door. We had one set four old-fashioned keys to get into our apartment. We felt that if there was a fire or we needed to leave quickly, it would be nearly impossible with so many locked doors! It was also pretty inconvenient- we basically had to all leave or come back together. We did this both mornings to go to the included breakfast (fairly nice with espresso, eggs, cheeses, meats, fruit, croissants, juices, cakes, cereals, and more). If we came back, we would prefer to stay in one of their regular hotel rooms.

It's an average Italian hotel, with ikea furniture, cold fake hardwood floors and the basic no frills amenities. But the restaurant really brings it down.

Fortunately, I've had better experience in 3 and 4 star hotels in Italy. Rooms are small, which is expected in a big European city, clean and basic. We had a room on the street, and it was very very noisy with traffic all night. Since the AC did not work we had the option to roast or open the window and hope to be tired enough to fall asleep despite the noise. The breakfast buffet was of low quality and like the rest of the hotel, it gave the impression that they were trying very hard to save money on everything you'd expect in a 4 star hotel. The staff at the reception was particularly annoying (actually I should say rude), making you wait for no apparent reason. When we first arrived to check in, they were 3 of them behind the counter and we still had to wait about 10 minutes (no apology) before they even dared looking at us. On the second day, I had the same problem; it's as if you are expected to wait, even to ask a small question, when there are no other client they need to attend to. It's quite unusual to experience such bad service, especially in a supposedly 4 star hotel. I'd say stay there for the price and convenient location, but expect more the level of service and amenities of a 2 or 3 star hotel.
