Once the Pandemic hit, your entire practice went to shit. You refused to treat either of my…read moreparents, one with really bad asthma, which your practice had YEARS of history of giving her steroids without needing to see her, since it was well documented that her asthma gets bad fast. THEN your practice had the NERVE to discharge her because she didn't agree with coming in initially, but then when she tried to schedule an appointment there wasn't one available! Not a good look, since she ended up in the urgent care having such a bad attack they had to throw everything and the kitchen sink at her attack to calm it down. People DIE from asthma attacks, so for your practice to be so callous is disgusting. I wish I could say that that was bad enough, IT WASN'T. Your practice retaliated against my father by not answering his phone calls about his own medical issues. That resulted in a serious complaint, of which NO ONE in your practice did a damn thing. There wasn't even a resolution provided. Now let's talk about the utter failure on your practice's part in treating my father properly. Since 2019, your practice consistently treated him for what?... A FRICKEN UTI! That is an abnormal issue and a first sign of bladder cancer in men. Instead of upholding your hypocratic oath, your practice opted to simply run a generic in office test, instead of sending it out for further testing. SINCE 2019! The laziness knows no bounds. It wasn't until your practice retaliated against him for the ridiculous issue you took with my mother, forcing both of them to go to Upstate Internist Associates in MAY 2023, at the initial visit, that my father was diagnosed with the most aggressive form of bladder cancer. In fact, the cancer was at the wall, about to breach other organs, when my father was told that his entire life was about change fast. He lost everything, his bladder, his ability to function at a full-time job, he wasn't even close to retirement age, your malpractice and negligence destroyed the financial stability of my parents, and your practice ruined my dad's life. He can't work, he can't do the basic things he loved, like drag racing, he even enjoyed working as a printer press operator, which he'd done for over 35 years. Your practice's malpractice and negligence destroyed so much for both of my parents. And the truly fucked up part? Your practice is going to get away with it because NYS is a fucking prison on planet bullshit. May your Wi-Fi remain as slow as your intelligence, and may every cup of your shitty coffee be simultaneously burned and cold.

Dr. Tarala makes you feel as you are part of a family and is willing to sit down and talk about any concerns. I have also seen Dr. Fiacco, he also a wonderful person and a great doctor. I have never waited as long as 30 minutes. However, I think that Upstate has been spoiled in that there usually are not waits. When I lived down state, I always brought a book with me, because I knew I would be waiting for some time. In the end, they are truly wonderful family doctors.

Let me start by saying this: the medical staff at CNY Family Care are exemplary. The doctors, nurse…read morepractitioners, nurses, and medical assistants have always treated me well. And this was not some one-off experience from somebody who barely knew the practice. I was a patient there for more than a decade and genuinely thought I had a good relationship with the people caring for me. That is what makes the way this ended so disappointing. I am a cash-pay, self-pay patient. I do not have insurance. Like a lot of people, I have to make very real decisions about where every dollar goes. Gas. Food. Rent. Medical care. I am also a chronic asthmatic, which means sometimes I simply have to see a doctor whether the money is there or not. Because my budget is extremely tight, I called before scheduling the appointment and specifically asked what the visit would cost. That was the entire reason for the call. I explained that I was self-pay. I explained that I needed the visit primarily so I could continue having access to my asthma prescriptions. I asked what I would have to pay. I was told $100. Based on that information, I scheduled the appointment. So, I went in, paid the $100, declined additional testing because I knew I could not afford additional expenses, saw the provider, had my prescriptions renewed, and left. End of story. Or at least I thought it was. Then I received another bill for $35. Now I'm kind of pissed. I had specifically called ahead because I could not afford a surprise bill. I had given your staff all the information they needed and asked a direct question: What is this visit going to cost me? Your office told me $100. I relied on that answer. Then your office charged me more. So yes, when I called billing, I was exceptionally upset. I used profanity. I own that shit. What I do not accept is the explanation I received for why the additional charge had not been disclosed when I specifically called ahead to ask about costs. I was told, essentially, that the practice had sent out a billing notice back in 2024 and that I should have known about it. Bruh...Seriously? If I call your office in 2026, tell you I am uninsured and self-pay, explain exactly what I need the appointment for, and specifically ask what I will be charged, I should be able to rely on the answer your employee gives me. A two-year-old billing notice is not a substitute for answering a direct billing question accurately. That is why I called in the first place. After this interaction, my patient portal access was disabled and I received a formal letter terminating me from the practice. The letter stated that I had "consistently" used foul language and had "consistently verbally abused" members of the billing staff. That is a much broader allegation than saying I got angry during this particular phone call. Which, FTR I am not denying. I was pissed. I used profanity. I will take responsibility for what I actually did. But if you are going to put in writing that I have consistently verbally abused your employees, then show me. Give me the dates. Give me the documented incidents. Show me the pattern that supports the word "consistently." I am perfectly capable of owning my behavior. I expect the same accountability from a medical practice making written accusations about mine. And frankly, I have no interest in returning. My problem is not with the clinicians. Quite the opposite. It is unfortunate that so many genuinely good medical professionals work inside a practice where my experiences with the billing department have been so consistently unpleasant. In my experience, billing staff have been rude, dismissive, combative, and far more interested in escalating frustration than de-escalating it. That is especially unacceptable when dealing with patients who are trying to navigate healthcare without insurance and who are literally calling ahead because $35 matters. Believe that $35 may not sound like much to some folks. When you're deciding whether that $35 goes toward gas, groceries, or healthcare, bruh it matters more than a bit. After more than a decade as a patient, I think the way this situation was handled was exceptionally unprofessional, avoidant, and cowardly. If I could give the billing/customer-service side of this practice zero stars, I would. And I want to be completely clear again: That rating is not for the doctors, nurses, nurse practitioners, or medical assistants. They deserved better than this review. Unfortunately, the way the administrative side of this practice handled a long-term patient deserves exactly the review I am giving it.

I completed their application and left. A few days later I received a call saying all of their doctors were NOT taking new patients. I told them I clearly stated my urgency when I stopped in and was told they were taking new patients. Now I find out that wasn't true and I wasted 4 days waiting. They CLEARLY don't care about people's well being. In visiting many other doctors in my area I found many are under the Family Care Medical Group. I visited 5 with similar bad results. I would not trust these insensitive, uncaring people with my healthcare.

I received paperwork in the mail, filled the four pages out with an appointment scheduled months ago. The office called me the day before to cancel my appt. and to reschedule. I finally had my appt. with the only one available Nicole Snyder. I came prepared with my paperwork early, only to be told that I had an invoice from 7 years ago in 2016 for $168 that I had to pay upfront or they would refuse me. I could not recall the invoice and it was the first time it was brought to my attention as they had not mentioned before I arrived in person. The office were given multiple opportunities to bring it to my attention and I would have had the opportunity to address it then. I explained I did not have the funds to pay for an invoice that I could not recall ever receiving back in 2016 let alone not knowing who my insurance co. was back then. I don't recall receiving an invoice from Women's Wellness in 2016 and I am very organized and conscinetious when handling invoices. The registration clerk rudely asked me how would they know if they could trust I would pay my invoice for today's services. I explained and trying to assure them my invoice today 12/16/2025 would be handled because I have medicaid they flat out refused to keep the appointment and I did not receive my exam. Instead of thinking of the care of the patient, the money somehow reconciled from seven years ago, that I don't agree to being valid at this time, was put as the priority over my care. I will never return to this office because of the inhumane treatment I received. Try to understand I walked out of the door not to be rude but because it took a great amount of energy to make it to the office and you never know what is going on with somebody so put some kindness in your practice.
