When it arrived, we were halfway through putting it together, when we found that there were essential parts missing. We went through the inventory and noted all the missing parts and contacted the retailer to ask to have them sent to us, only for them to say that this was not possible, and we had to pack the whole thing up, have it returned, and they would send a new one. I packed the parts up for collection, and told them instead of sending another consignment, to refund me instead. We then chose to get our new bed for TJ Warehouse, which I wish we'd done in the beginning! This is a local, family run business who helped us through the whole process, and at every stage, there was an actual human being to speak to! The bed and mattress I ended up getting here, I was much more happy with, their prices are competitive and we had the bed with all parts present delivered to our door within 48 hours! Aside from beds, they also sell bedroom furniture, they have an online store, and if needed, they can offer finance too. I definitely recommend to look at what local businesses you can support before looking elsewhere!

Even if I haven't worn something for absolutely ages, I…read morestill hold on to it 'just in case' Anytime I do muster up the strength to get rid of anything (this usually happens when my wardrobe is heaving under the pressure and my drawers won't close) I like to do my bit and donate the stuff to charity. Barnardo's is usually my shop of choice, because it is conveniantly located in the centre of the town, and it has been there for years, so it's always the first one I think of. In terms of making purchases, however, it's not that great. My main appeal for second hand stores, is books, but they don't have a great selection here, and what they do have are mainly children's books. I do agree that the shop could do with a bit of a sprucing up. I'm aware that it's a second hand shop, but it doesn't need to smell like one. The musty smell when you walk in is a tad overpowering - nevertheless, it's all good, as it serves its purpose in doing it's bit for charity!

Though the man who was working was really pleasant and chatted away to us for a while about the shop. This shop seems rather outdated I must note and it could do with a revamp. Though it probably suits its clientele which as Nick notes is most likely to be older ladies who enjoy wee chats whiling away their afternoon in the quiet surroundings. Barnardos is a great cause though so please support local charities and donate any goods you can. Much appreciated.

They sell a range of wallpaper, paint, varnish, in fact, pretty much anything you would need for general DIY. Perfect for someone who has a quick job to do, and doesn't want the hassle of having to go all the way up to Newtownabbey to visit one of the larger DIY stores. They also sell a range of gardening items. As has already been mentioned, the staff are super helpful, especially for someone as clueless as me when I wanted to make my first attempt at wallpapering (it didn't work, but it wasn't due to ill advice, just my poor skills) In addition, McCune's is one of the few places locally that you can get a key cut, so if you ever need a spare key in a hurry, this is the place to go. Blythswood Trading operate a charity shop at units 8 and 9 De Courcy Centre…read more Blythswood are a Christian Charity operating 9 shops across NI and are a Not For Profit organisation helping projects in Eastern Europe, India, Pakistan etc. This shop sells all manner of items from books, to furniture, clothes, shoes, games - same as you'd expect in any charity shop, except this one is bright and spacious, and without the fusty smell! Granted some of the items are as you might expect, and look like they have been obtained via a house clearance from a very elderly person, however there are great bargains to be had. My friend got a stunning vintage 'shabby chic' style dressing table here and I managed to get a chest of drawers for my son's room that matched the ones he already has, for £20!
