They also have their own mini tour office to help plan tours for their clients. They have 24 hour reception to keep high security and if you are planning to stay in Chile for an extended period they will trade reception shifts for a room. Their kitchen is huge if you want to save some money and do your own cooking while traveling. Their patio is my favorite part with the pool as I mentioned above and a huge grassy lawn, super ideal for the summer time. Their staff are friendly and are a diverse group of foreigners and locals. Their rooms are simple typical hostel style, nothing fancy or luxurious.

I've met people from almost everywhere, the environment is very cool! They also have a pool and outside bar which maybe makes it easier to make friends and hang out and if not, you can always meet at the kitchen, their enormous kitchen! A heaven for cooks! They do have hours so make sure you're in time. Check in wasn't great to be honest and the rooms are very simple, we had a thing with a male sleeping in our room even though it was girls only. We also had a problem with the reservation, we booked 4 nights with breakfast but for some reason they had us for bed only :/ The design is super cool, very nice for vintage lovers. Bottom line, if the hostel is full, you are promised to have a great time, keep in mind to notice everything while check in so you avoide any inconveniences...

We stayed for two nights at the hotel and then had a private driver take us to Valparaiso where we stayed for two nights before departing on a cruise. I arrived at the hotel in Santiago with my coat, hung it in the closet, and left it there. As we were unpacking our bags in Valparaiso, I realized that I had left my coat in the closet. I immediately contacted them and they said that nothing had been sent to lost and found. I explained that I was absolutely certain that I had left the coat in the closet of our room and asked that they check. They showed no urgency in doing so and I stressed that I was departing on a cruise and asked again for them to check the room. They sent me a WhatsApp message stating that nothing was found in the closet of the room. I explained again that I was absolutely certain it was left in the closet and asked that they check with housekeeping. They never responded - and still haven't. Someone, most likely housekeeping, stole my expensive coat. I understand that lam responsible for leaving it - but I would have expected it would have been turned in by housekeeping and that my loss would have been taken more seriously. Santiago de Chile I…read morespent the month of January , 2015, in Chile. During my stay I spent some time in Viña del Mar, La Serena, and a couple of weeks in Santiago. While in Santiago I rented a furnished apartment with "Apart Santa Lucia." They run several buildings in the area and I was assigned to an apartment on the 11th floor of the building located at Carmen 110. Parking was available for an additional fee ( $ 3.00 USD ) per night. There is another "Apart Santa Lucia" building at San Isidro 45. The daily rate was somewhere between $ 56.00 and $ 58.00 USD. The main room of the apartment was facing the bright , hot , Santiago sun. The only curtain on the window was a sheer white see through curtain that did nothing to block out the warm Rays of the Santiago sun. Did I mention that it was HOT ? This accommodation will never do, I thought , I'll die here. Management was contacted and a young Portuguese speaking employee arrived who was able to solve the problem as there were no other apartments available at the time. He rigged up a make-shift canvass and hooked it up behind the sheer curtains to block out the hot Santiago sun. No air conditioning in the apartment but there was a fan. One of the three legs on the fan ( a stand up fan ) was broken preventing the oscillating fan from oscillating. I then used one of the ottomans in the room to balance the fan so that it would stand straight up and oscillate. Wasn't that great ? Now, on to the next problem. The two light bulbs in the front room were missing. One of the two light bulbs in the kitchen was missing. Both light bulbs were present in the bedroom where one presumably sleeps with the lights off ! The bedroom bulbs were larger than the other bulbs in the place so there would be no switching the bulbs around. The bathroom was missing one of the two bulbs in the room. All in all , it was a little dark in the apartment due to an insufficient supply of light bulbs. Of course, being a guy, I'm not afraid of the dark :) Nevertheless , Contacted management and was told , no problem, the fan would be replaced and new light bulbs would be purchased when the stores opened up. Huh ? Ya don't have any in stock ? As the days went by, no new fan, no new light bulbs. So, I broke open my piggy bank, removed a few pesos, and went to the store and purchased the requisite number of light bulbs. TA da , "Let there be light" , some one famous once said, and Voila ! There was light ! All grievances aside, the stay was a very pleasant one and the price was very affordable. The Santa Lucia Metro station is nearby for ease of movement around the city if traveling without an auto. Lovely Santa Lucia Hill is just down the street. Plenty of people walking around the neighborhood from dawn to after dark. If you like people watching, this is the place. There are 5 million people in Santiago and I swear , half of them are in and around the Santa Lucia area. There is an abundance of night life in the area with bars, restaurants, and stores all over the place. If you are lucky you might even catch sight of a "Stray dog" ( perro callejero ) strolling down the street. Ok, I'm kidding. Stray dogs and Latin America go together like ham and cheese. Seriously though, the apartment was more than adequate for my stay, conveniently located to many tourist attractions and not too far from a Lider grocery store where food can be purchased for home preparation. The apartment had a refrigerator , microwave , dinnerware, etc. All the comforts of home away from home. Except, no Wi-FI and no T V. Queeee ? But who watches T V when on vacation anyway ? Te amo Santiago ! I'll be back...

My mom and brother were coming to visit me during the Christmas holiday and we were deciding…read morebetween proximity (to me) or luxury for their lodging. That is when I remembered seeing what looked like travelers coming in and out of the apartment building right next to mine. After a quick search on Google I found Apart Santa Lucia and I went over to ask my questions (since their site kind of lacks info). Located on the second floor of the building is the headquarters of Apart Santa Lucia. I talked with them about the different options and they were super nice. They even let us see the different rooms. Not only do they have rooms available in the apartment building on Santa Rosa but they also have them in the newer buildings closer to the metro Santa Lucia. The good thing about being in contact with them beforehand as opposed to just reserving online was that they told me which rooms were their favorite (based on new installations, decor and view). Despite them suggestion one of their newer rooms on Carmen, I wanted my family to be right next to me, so they recommended room 1211 (if I remember correctly) as it had a somewhat good view and the decor was nice. They gave me special treatment since I am a neighbor and they moved the reservations around so I could get that room - I really appreciated it! For 27 mil (54 dollars a night) during holiday season - this was a steal! They only do room service every 3 days (as in clean, change towels and sheets) unless you ask and pay extra. Also, my family came in late (around 1am) and they made sure there was someone there to give them a key and let them in and the next morning they did check-in. Overall, a great experience. Although, don't get your hopes up too much. It is exactly what you would hope for: clean bed and room, good location but there is no above and beyond service. Also, my brother slept on the futon which was broken and was a pretty uncomfortable nights sleep so I recommend checking the beds before settling in. I am sure they will move you if there is availability. FYI they don't really speak English, but when I was in there they there was a girl who spoke Portuguese. Also, if you pay in dollars and are foreign (with proof of passport) you don't have to pay the 19% tax - ask them about it otherwise they will charge you.

Highlights/Lowlights…read more 1. EXCELLENT location 2. Staff that goes above and beyond 3. Wine bar closed We recently spent 5 nights at Hotel Cumbres and Lastarria. We LOVED the location and mentioned multiple times on our trip how happy we were with this spot. After walking around the city for several days, we truly feel like Lastarria is the best place to be. This area is close enough to walk to Plaza De Armas and other historical sites and there are many many restaurants and bars right on the same street as this hotel. We ate and drank in this neighborhood all 5 nights and never repeated a dinner spot, PLUS there were more options available that we didn't have time for. The staff here is outstanding! Our flight arrived at 8am on Saturday so we paid a fee for early check in (only an option if a room is ready) and unfortunately our room wasn't ready yet but the hotel staff told us to enjoy breakfast while we waited for a room. About 20 minutes into our breakfast, the staff dropped off our keys and also arranged to have our bags brought to our room. We ordered room service (wine and champagne) a few times during our stay and it always arrived quickly. The hotel staff was also able to arrange us transportation to the airport for our early flight (for a fee). The only drawbacks to our stay is the at there is a very cute wine bar on the first floor of the hotel that was closed the entire time we were there (seems like is has been closed since COVID). Also, no drinks are allowed at the rooftop pool which was a bit of a bummer. We would definitely recommend staying at Hotel Cumbres Lastarria!

For months I had my eye on the Aubrey in Santiago, Chile. From the pictures it seemed to be an unpretentious rustic retreat with plenty of good design sense in a prime location. I loved the look of the pool (though I knew I was unlikely to make use of it since I was visiting in winter) and the piano lounge where they enticed me with the promise of complimentary Chilean pisco sours for hotel guests (I love little extras). When I arrived last month for a one night stay the Aubrey showed itself to be just exactly what I was after. The entire staff is super nice, yet also relaxed. The folks at breakfast are some seriously cheerful people (especially at such early hours) and will whip you up toast and eggs with all manner of accoutrements: avocado, tomato, mushroom, bacon. There's also tea, coffee, cake, fruit, meats, cheeses and cereals. And best of all, this breakfast of champions is included in the room rate (love that)! The Aubrey is well located in the culturally dense neighborhood that is Bellavista. Here you'll find no shortage of restaurants and when you're not eating, you can visit La Chascona, Pablo Neruda's famous home, or climb up to the top of San Cristóbal Hill to take in the view. I came back again this month for a longer stay and got severely delayed on my way. The kind folks at the Aubrey rescheduled my transfer from the airport and welcomed me warmly when I finally arrived. We hired the piano lounge for two days of a media tour and were accommodated handsomely. When I showed up sick on the second day and said I was cold they brought it a fire (I kid you not) to warm me up. They also made me a teapot full of hot toddy which helped me power through. In sum, if you're coming to Santiago and want to stay in an intimate boutique hotel in a bohemian neighborhood the Aubrey is it. NOTES FOR BUSINESS TRAVELERS - The wifi works well (and there's just one password for all of your devices). - Power outlets are not conveniently placed in rooms (mildly annoying). - Cabs are fairly easy to get nearby; airport transfer to the hotel is reliable (this is a good option if you've never been to Santiago). - It can be loud, if you're a really light sleeper the ambient neighborhood noise may be problematic.
