What started out as a fantasy has become a reality X 2! My wife and I visited Maui in Feb 2019, it was our 3rd trip to the island and after all kinds of dreaming and discussion, we made a promise to ourselves to eventually make Maui our home. We set forth on an adventure to purchase a condo in kihei. We live in Portland, Oregon and the logistics seemed impossible. Where do we even begin? We saw Howard Dinits' ad and called him up. He was so friendly and knowledgeable. He helped answer our millions of questions and helped us understand the properties available and the pros/cons of each. He held our hand while we made a spreadsheet of properties and toiled with decisions (we really did have a crazy detailed spreadsheet of amenities). He spent the time on the phone with us as we mulled over the smallest of details. Then when the time came to make an offer he made it easy. All the documents were sent thru email; just sign and send. He helped us understand all the steps, was in constant communication with the seller's agent and was quick to set up inspections, bug reports, etc. He worked with our lender to make sure all necessary info for financing was promptly managed. There was a lot of behind the scenes stuff we were not bothered with and when we became anxious about certain steps he calmed us down with his confidence and positive attitude. When the deed was transferred he recommended a property management company and even hand delivered the keys to them. He had referrals for a handyman, made friends with our new neighbors, and just a generally nice guy. So, the process was so smooth that we just completed the purchase of a second condo rental home. Our rentals will be lived in and loved, collecting equity and waiting for us in 10 years when were ready to leave the mainland and enjoy island life. What a joke! Me and my fiancé were house hunting in Hawaii. We live in the Bay Area and because Howard is from there decided to see if he would take us on. After letting him know location and what we wanted as far as pricing he was happy to help, even though he was on Maui and we were looking on the big island. He reassured me he had people who worked for him out there and it wouldn't be a problem. My whole issue with him and the reason I would give him zero stars if I could is because he left me hanging in a critical time. He was responsive up until a couple days before we flew out. Mind you, we were traveling from the Bay Area to look at houses so we were on a time frame. I contacted Howard on the day I arrived. I called and asked if he got a chance to look at the list, he said he was a bit busy but he would let me know as soon as he looked over it. After that he didn't answer the phone or My emails. A couple days later I got in contact with his wife who is a receptionist or at the very least takes his calls. She took down a message for me but I never got a response. For 10 days, nothing. I arrived on the island expecting to have a realtor and half way through my trip had to frantically find a new one to take me on. Maybe it was because I'm a first time buyer caping out at 200,000, maybe he was busy, who knows. But it is so unprofessional to not at least let your client know that you can't or won't help them. Especially when they are flying in from a different state. I'm super understanding and would have been okay with him if he just reached out and let me know I needed to find someone else. But to screen my calls and not get back to me is unacceptable! read more

I live in Boston Ma. I needed to sell my sister's condo in Kihei. I went online to find a realtor, all Howard's reviews were great so I took a chance and signed up with him. My sister moved to Berkeley and did not take ANYTHING with her. It took Howard several weeks to get rid of 70% of the stuff in the Condo. This included all her cloths, half the furniture because there was way too much, all her makeup and toiletries and a bunch of other "stuff".
