The Inn is quaint, charming, and comfortable and the staff are kind, welcoming and accommodating! We arrived and were immediately happy with the safe and private parking accommodations. We actually arrived very late that evening, and called ahead, they waited up for us and were so kind upon arrival. The Hotel is SO charming, cute and cozy. The aesthetic is charming English cottage, while also being updated and feeling clean. The hotel rooms themselves are more modern (though unique) to give you all of the comforts of home - my fave being the towel warmer. Our room was wonderfully clean (and I'm a stickler on cleanliness!) and the bed was so comfortable, especially after a long drive. It was such a comfortable and clean place to lay our heads for the evening. The hotel has a restaurant that I would also recommend. Breakfast was incredible - one of the first hotel breakfasts where I haven't had to douse in pepper haha. Well seasoned and well cooked, high quality ingredients. Jonathan is a wonderful chef. My husband said the hollandaise was one of the best he's ever had. I'd recommend stopping by for sure, and don't miss breakfast! The hotel is also very unique in that they have local goods/art around the hotel, both as decor and for sale. Such a sweet touch. We bought one of Caroline's paintings - she's multi talented! As an anniversary treat my partner took me here for afternoon tea over the weekend. We also wanted to have a look at the legendary Lake House which is a mile from the hotel next to its own private lake, with private spa and grounds. We booked in at 5pm for afternoon tea .. A little later than I wanted but it's seems they just serve late afternoon. When we arrived it seems we drew upto a private residence rather than a hotel... which made it more appealing! We were seated quickly in the gorgeous lounge area (if it hadn't have been raining we would have been out on the gorgeous terrace) the whole room oozed class. The coffee table was laid out ready for us and we decided to have cold drinks to start with our savouries. Not a single member of staff went by without seeing if we were ok and needed anything.. attentive isn't the word! So we set up our tour of the lake house after we finished our afternoon tea very quickly! The savouries were frankly delicious. . Sausage and choritzo rolls, egg mayo, roast beef (cooked medium rare.. as it should be) and horseradish, smoked salmon and watercress and ham & wholegrain mustard sandwiches. .. then the most perfect part.. A pot of light, creamy salmon mousse with roasted brioche. Being a savouries person this was the best part and wish there was more ... but as it's afternoon tea we needed to leave space for the cakes. The cakes arrived beautifully presented and obviously made by a master of baking! Toffee and cream profiterole, chocolate slice with many layer of creamy mousse and chocolate ganache.. Victoria slice.. sponge, cream and jam in perfect layers, raspberry cheesecake.. perfectly light and creamy.. The scone was to die for... With all the trimmings. The choice of teas was lacking many fruit teas but only Earl Grey and English Breakfast in traditional teas.. After we finished we drove down to the lake house for a look round... it was classic, beautiful and entirely an elegant way to host a small wedding or special party. I feel this hotel is a little overlooked being just out of the tourist area... but it is a gem. I would love to hire the lake house for exclusive use with a group of friends for a weekend or new year.. All in all a special experience on a special day.. The website is excellent .. another tick!

We arrived to a group of people in the parking lot who were pointing up in the sky and hollering. It was the freakin' international space station just casually above us! Cross that off the bucket list. The Queens Head is a pub that serves incredible food on the bottom, and a hotel on top. The pub was the most gorgeous English pub I've ever been in. After a fire years ago, it was redone and was incredibly cozy and chic. We were sat next to a blazing fire, there were blankets scattered around, and they had created little sitting nooks within the stone walls. I was in love before we even ordered anything. We got a round of gin and rhubarb tonics that came with fresh fruit in them. Because we were with locals from the village, they knew to ask the owner to come over and tell us about the building's history. He came over with old pictures, stories and incredible facts for us. He even took us upstairs to show us the magnificent hotel rooms (for reasonable prices too). The best part?! The queen apparently slept in one of the four post beds before the fire hit years ago, and the bed was one of the few that was saved after the fire. The headboard of the bed was then used to build the bar in the downstairs pub. It's ornate and beautiful. We ordered our food and I got pasta carbonara. It was delicious and the seafood specials sounded amazing as well. This place is high on my list to bring my family to if they ever come visit with us!

Our rooms, which were on the 2nd floor, were immaculate and very comfortable. The breakfast, with the wonderful Cumberland sausages, was very tasty and filling. My only complaint was that if your room is on the top floor, there is no lift, and you have to carry your luggage up 2 flights of stairs. Were were traveling over a 3-week period, so ours was heavy and bulky, making it difficult to get our things to our rooms. And there was no one to help with this. I would stay here again, but definitely request a room on the first floor.

They work it to uncommon levels not found in most others and that sets them apart uniquely. It is like how specialized in certain areas of hospitality the game reserve/wildlife park resorts/inns/bed and breakfast places are. There are also a variety of treetop hotels around the world that have their own charm as do the beach resorts/bungalows and such at various locations. The one thing that these two Glenburn hotels don't share in common is the English countryside on the one hand and the Himalayan Mountain Range (Mt.Everest) piercing the skies on the other. Fog is common at both, which I always like for one reason or another. Both must visit/experience special destinations, without question. One of my fave Uncles, a really jovial and witty guy was director of the Darjeeling Zoological/wildlife Park, back in the day. He was,among other things known for a project he developed and saw to fruition. Saving the rare Blood Pheasant. He decided Glenburn was ideal for them to propagate, and so it was as well, as it turned out happily. So there is another tidbit to have for over the 'Cuppa' or 'Hocuppa' tea as they call it in some parts of England. Conversation/Chit-Chat and so on, you know. Yes indeed,all that great stuff that's more and more hard to come by these days and when it does, it's all the more special and is stuff that dreams are made of.
