HP Automotive is a full-service mechanical workshop in Mona Vale, servicing and repairing European, Japanese, Australian and American vehicles, 4WDs, utes, vans and light commercial vehicles. We carry out logbook and scheduled servicing, registration inspections, diagnostics and fault finding, brakes, suspension and steering repairs, clutch replacement, cooling system repairs, air conditioning servicing and re-gassing, battery and charging system repairs, diesel diagnostics, DPF and EGR repairs, tyres and wheels, 4WD suspension and performance upgrades, towing and touring upgrades, and general mechanical repairs. We also work on classic and performance vehicles and can assist with pre-purchase inspections. Courtesy vehicles are available subject to availability, including a Toyota Corolla and Toyota Hilux WorkMate. Our focus is practical advice, accurate diagnosis and quality workmanship for customers across Mona Vale and the Northern Beaches.

HP Automotive was established in Mona Vale in 2012 by Hugh Pickering, following his apprenticeship and early career with Bill Buckle Toyota & Subaru on Bassett Street. What began with servicing cars for friends, family and word-of-mouth customers from his mother’s driveway steadily grew into a busy local workshop. Over the years HP Automotive expanded its team and premises, including acquiring ACE Brakes & Clutch and later welcoming many long-standing customers from Ollies Autos. Today, HP Automotive is a full-service mechanical workshop looking after everything from everyday servicing and repairs to diagnostics, European vehicles, 4WDs, brakes, suspension, tyres, diesel and performance vehicles. The business has grown through honest advice, reliable workmanship, repeat customers, referrals and strong ties to the Mona Vale and Northern Beaches community.
Meet the Business Owner: Hugh P.
Hugh Pickering is the owner of HP Automotive and has built the business from the ground up on the Northern Beaches. After completing his apprenticeship with Bill Buckle Toyota & Subaru on Bassett Street, Hugh began servicing cars for friends and family from a driveway in Warriewood around 2008.
From those early days, HP Automotive grew largely through word of mouth, referrals and repeat customers, built on trust, honest advice, reliable workmanship and strong customer service.
Hugh remains hands-on in the workshop and focuses on accurate diagnosis, quality mechanical repairs, and long-term customer care. He also values mentoring younger technicians, building a strong local team and maintaining the community relationships that have helped HP Automotive become a trusted Mona Vale mechanic for customers across the Northern Beaches and North Shore.
