When they answer the phone there they quickly double check that it's really the Canton branch you want, because they have so any calls for the other one. I often go into this bank, and have been with them for many, many years. This is that bank that I have always dealt with for any major changes to my accounts and life situations. Because it's so small, it also seems intimate and friendly, especially when compared to many of the bigger banks in town. A friend of mine recently came over from New Zealand and commented that British banks are big and serious and scary. Which is completely true! In New Zealand you get to sit down, have a chat and listen to ABBA. Fortunately, nice little banks like this one in Canton exist here too. Having literally just come off the phone with them, they were exceptionally helpful and polite; providing a more personable service than we might be used to over the phone.

Natwest is a great bank as a student they always have the best deals and this one is no exception…read more If you need a bank to do any financial banking then this one has 3 cashier desks and a personal manager to help with advice, they are particularly helpful more so than other banks I have been to. The nearest ATM machine is outside and around the corner opposite the pub on the wall. This a smaller bank so expect to queue and avoid at busy periods such as lunch time.

I didn't have long to wait, the adviser was really helpful. She helpfully made the changes I needed, advised me to get rid of the Additions account somebody had nudged me into in a weak moment a few years ago, so I wasn't paying an unnecessary amount to Barclays for no reason each month. I know!! BANKERS ETHICS SHOCKER!! I hope the poor girl isn't tracked down and sacrificed to the gods of greed. I was in and out of there in no time and left with a smile of my face, a rarity in encounters with bankers!

This branch is a good example of a decent Barclays branch. There is usually a nice girl who at the customer service counter who greets you and tries to solve your problems. Sometimes this is merely pointing you in the direction of counter services up the stairs, to the nearby cash point or deposit drop or to the newly added and amazingly helpful self service station where you can print out your statements, amend or cancel standing orders and transfer money. There's also one of those phone points where you can call up customers services for your Barclaycard or get an insurance quote from Barclays. And of course there are half a dozen personal banker desks to help you with more complex queries. Judging by the signs outside at the moment though, they are soon to move to a new 'flagship' store elsewhere in Broadmead.

Now, thanks to Nat West I need worry no more. This branch on the corner of the triangle is open until 1pm on a Saturday. Granted, it's usually quite busy but it's a nice spacious, newly refurbed place with enough staff to cope. There is usually a customer service rep to meet you when you go in and direct you to the right person, be it a counter services or a personal banker. It's a pretty mixed bag as to who you might get - a friendly but pretty scatty woman, a by the book bland guy or some newbie - it just depends on when you happen to walk through the doors. There's usually a lovely big issue guy outside the bank too, should you want to buy a Big Issue.

Every time I've dropped by the customer service is really friendly yet extremely professional such as Barclays. When it gets busy, there's constantly staff around trying to make sure everyone gets seen to so your experience is as quick and painless as possible. Normally, when I make a deposit into an account, I like using the counter instead of drop-box because I want to double check that the cash is going into the right account. A man came by to teach me how to use the drop-box once, but I decided to stay in the queue for the counter. I sheepishly apologised to him letting him know that I just want to ensure the money is going to the right place but he made me feel really at ease and told me that it's important that whichever method I choose I'm 100% comfortable with it. --- Maybe in the future if I stop being so lazy I finally make the switch to Lloyds because my experience with them so far has been wonderful!

No, i just want to mention how incredibly friendly and helpful the staff are at this branch. Obviously, like every human being with a bank account i've got my beef with banks, the charges, the fact its not 24 hours, the queues and those stupid microphone things that everyone can hear you asking whether you have more than 50p in your account. But this particular branch is super relaxed, super friendly and in general a fantastically run establishment. Now, i don't like to mention any names (*cough*Natwest*across the road*cough*) but the bitch behind the counter made me weep, like a proper girl in there once so i immediately closed the account marched the ten or eleven paces to Lloyds where they gave me a cup of tea and a tissue, i have never looked back since!
