please stay away from HSBC France especially when you are not from France, they are proud to call themselves the bank they are the worst. no matter if you have 20K on the account, they have spending limits, you cannot spent more than 3K, no matter if you have the money or not. customer service is the worst to none....seriously never been so frustrated with a bank. cards that stop working and you have to wait 5 days for a new card, they don't care if you can or cannot do anything else. stay away, stay away!!! read more

My experience with HSBC France has been atrocious: * Online portal not working * Faulty and absurd password systems * Unfriendly and unhelpful customer service * Financial statements that have disappeared entirely * HSBC contacts simply not showing up for scheduled calls I am accountable for not doing my own research before signing-up with them and am living with the results until I can close my account ASAP. Terrible service in HSBC France! I have been unsuccessfully trying to get the most simple service done for more than a year, which in any other normal bank can be finished in 5 minutes. Stay away from HSBC France, specifically Nice Gubernatis. We brought our daughter to college and spoke with HSBC in US and the International phone line to be sure we had all necessary documents. We arrived on first day to be told they were unable to open account (they were closing in an hour). Second visit we were told they don't open accounts in office, do it online. We were given an appointment online to go back to that office. Presented ourselves to that location at designated time and told they are not open, that appointment time does not exist. Took us in 1.5 hrs later at which time we were given a lengthy dissertation on how it was dangerous for them to open a bank account and hold our money but would apparently stretch the rules and make an attempt. In doing so however they requested documents that were completely uncalled for and as per their International Line not necessary. (Passports from building owners) They simply wanted and chose to make this as difficult as possible, genuinely making things up in order to not do their job. We returned to sign some papers, again with much difficulty for the office although at their request. So.... all of this was approximately 7 weeks ago..... my daughter still does not have an available account. She has gone repeatedly , weekly to get a bank card and there is no one there who handles such a arduous task. A bank card, yes, a debit card. So my daughter is in another country and we have no way to wire her an appropriate amount of money for rent etc....we were told at the end of last week that someone would reach out to her in a week and get her a bank card. Yes, a bank card. I loose one here or open an account and I have one in 15 minutes. International Bank, no, disgusting behavior yes. No wonder they are pulling out of France. read more

Worst banking services ever in the French part. Its December, I asked to close my account in August, and for a whole series of misunderstandings, complete lack of communication, lack of respect and consideration for the client, this simple task has not been done... I have filed numerous complaints, have called up, have emailed, have sent secure messages, and still it doesn't happen. The last episode is I received the most absurd letter from their customer services saying they're lacking a piece of information, which I provided in a new form a month and a half ago via their own secure system and which they can't locate..... I have no words anymore about them. read more

i agree with all the other reviews i had not used the account from some time i received a letter that it was been dormant i wrote in french to my branch in Bordeaux to say as i had sold my house i no longer needed the account to transfer what was in the account to another bank that i still used and to close it i received no reply by chance i looked it up 3 months later to check this had been done only to find that the account , not used ,was in the red to 42 + euros and still open ! i tried 2 phone numbers but was not able to speak to anyone terrible customer service ! i have written again this time, in english, to a dedicated lady named on my account who has never contacted me ! i wonder if i will get reply ?? i rate this business nil i read more

I've fad very good experiences with HSBC si far. They have great online services and very nice personnel in the agencies. Within the 6 years since I've been working with HSBC I only had one small bad experience with one employee who as far as I know left the company. read more

HSBC Premier banking in France is a joke. They charge you 120 euros just to have plastic card (regardless of the fact that you keep a lot of money in the account just to maintain Premier status). When I was opening French account form the US they "forgot to mention this". You cannot even set your own pin code to the card, and if you forget one they charge you nine euros to issues new one! That's premier care they provide! There is no charge back features, so if you relationship with some merchant turns sour you have no way to return your money. To change the address on file you have to go to the branch(!) hand write letter on blank paper asking to do that (!!) and if it's not "your assigned" branch they forward you paper to yours and it takes couple of days. (!!!). Unbelievable, just unbelievable! read more

HSBC touts itself as "The World's Bank" but don't believe any of it! I started a Premier account in the US with the attraction of being able to establish a HSBC account in Paris where I live several months a year. The debit card issued to me only allows a €500 withdrawal at the ATM per day, so I walked into a branch closed to where I live and they are unable to give me cash for a mere €1,500 because the branch doesn't carry any money! They directed me to another branch which they say will be able to help me. Since not all HSBC branches in Paris are Premier, I decided to go to a Premier branch closed to me. Same story, they don't have any money in the bank and told me to see my relationship manager way downtown! You would think they would bend over backwards to assist and facilitate a Premier client, whatever it takes to meet their banking needs! After walking from one branch to another all morning, I have decided that given the inconvenience and lack of personal attentive service, the benefits and advantages of a HSBC Premier account is not what they claim to be! Definitely, a world bank, they are not! I would not even give them 1 star, but there is no way of doing that with Yelp! read more

This bank is just about the appearance. I was a client for them because I also had an HSBC account in UK. Their customer service is non efficient and when I wanted to buy a property they lied to me and almost make me loose the deal. read more

I have had a bank account in France for several years. Lately they decided to question my transactions, even when receiving money. I provided all the necessary information they requested and told them I will close my account as they are useless to me and I do not want to correspond with my bank to do deposits or withdrawals. Now they question my withdrawals, which I politely answer is really none of their business as to how I spend my money. So they decided to prevent my online access to my account and as I do not live in France it will be interesting to see how and if I can have this matter resolved. There is nothing International about their banking expertise and even though they market themselves as an international bank for ex-pats, they are terrible at it. I will not recommend them to anyone at all anymore and will close all my accounts I have with them worldwide. read more

One star is too much to rate this worthless bank. I live in China and travel around the world quite often, so I have accounts on Mainland China, Hong Kong, the US and France. HSBC France is by far THE WORST BANK I've ever come across, even compared to Bank of America, Bank of China, Deutsche Bank and Stadtsparkasse München, where I've had accounts too. The only reason I still use them it's because there is no other branch on Continental Europe. The genius that opened my account "forgot" to tell me that you can't do ANYTHING without a secure key, so when I moved to China and tried to change my address of course I couldn't. I called the branch and they told me the only way to do this is to send a FAX (who on earth has a fax nowadays?!) with my passport and an utility bill with my name on it, but it just so happens that utility bills in China HAVE NO NAMES. I tried to explain this to the great people of my branch (which manages EVERYTHING, so I can't call outside of their business hours) and they told me I need to GO TO THE CONSULATE to get a certificate of residence, THE FREAKING CONSULATE JUST TO CHANGE MY ADDRESS!!!!!!!!! Also, for their online banking you can't even choose your own name, you HAVE to use a ridiculous ID that they give you printed on a card, so if you're traveling, and didn't bring the worthless card (not an ATM card, they cost a lot of money), then you can't log in to your account. I'm a Premier customer, and I hate HSBC France, but you can't even call them to scold them, because they will get all worked up and scold you back for being outraged by their horrible service and RIDICULOUS POLICIES, they even tried to tell me it's an EU requirement, which is total BS. DON'T OPEN AN ACCOUNT WITH HSBC FRANCE, DO IT IN HSBC MALTA OR HSBC GREECE. read more
