And in one of the rolls there was literarily no salmon at all! Other people have told me before they mostly have rice and not much fish. But to then also use only the left over of the salmon in the rolls, leaving only the gray meat that doesn't taste close to what it should is a scam. To make things worse when I complained they where really rude about it. I had to drive down with the dish to deliver it back only to be told that "it's suppose to be like that". Which isn't true. (Just see photo below from other place) I should have been offered the meal for free and they would not even do that. Or gift an extra dish for the hassle of returning it and ruining Friday nights dinner but they just said "we don't give anything extra". Not even owning up to that this is not what salmon tempura sushi should look like at all! The right side photo is from another sushi place called HT Sushi in Kristiansand. They have really good sushi. Food Asylum and FoodEx too. Basically ANY other sushi place than Mai Oishi and you will be okey.

The restaurant is small-ish inside, and the staff is friendly enough. The nigiri we ordered had too much rice in it, and the rice was a bit too touch and dry, but the fish was fresh and tasty. Mai Oishi Sushi isn't anything to write home about, but it you're looking for something fresh, simple, and light, they'll satisfy that craving. They have a bathroom located at the back of the restaurant, at the bottom of the stairs. The restaurant was playing American hip hop/pop music from about 5 years ago, which made me smile.

The decor was simple and classy, and the menu just about made my eyes pop out, talk about eye candy! ( I even asked the waitress if I could keep a copy of the menu, it was that impressive!!). My colleague and I ordered the Combo de Luxe and it was not only extensive in its variety, pleasing to the eye, but ultimately pleasing to the palette! It seemed like a lot of food, but happened to be just the right amount for the two of us, and we decided to finish it off with the fried ice cream to share. All around an excellent experience!!
