The only thing that was tough was trying to find my car on the way back - as sometimes the phone signal didn't work in areas I was walking (likely because of the buildings). If you like American history, the Freedom Trail tour is for you. Be prepared to walk for a couple of hours. Our guide, Rosalie McAvoy, was amazing, enthusiastic, knowledgeable, nice, patient and answered all questions in a very detailed manner. There was a lot of information, so it was worth every penny. Keep in mind that the tour is not a loop, and you'll walk on your own to the start of the tour when it's done, around 1.5 miles. Bring water and comfy shoes. Highly recommended. read more

Simply outstanding - literally. Creative, engaging, focused, deep, rich and tremendously informative. Fun, too. The many 5-star reviews say it all. Took the Freedom Trail tour on Friday (also AMAZING) and decided to follow up with the Beacon Hill Trail on Saturday. Tour guide was Dana and he was incredible. He obviously knew the history and told it with such enthusiasm and joy. He also explained the various behind the scenes story and answered any and all questions. We just completed a private tour with Ted and having done these types of walking tours the world over I have to say that this was indeed one of the best few hours we have spent while on vacation. He is well exceedingly well prepared and so engaging. He is a history major from a great school and it shows. Every question even the most mundane had a detailed and lively answer. This was such a great walking tour that I would hire Matthew Hutchins for a private party to reenact the entire walking tour any day. We covered 16 sites, under rain and never missed a beat. We took the Freedom Trail Tour, led by Nick. The tour was very interesting and informative, and Nick was well versed in American history. However, the tour was supposed to be 2.5 hours in length, but Nick well over the limit, taking a total of 3 hours! If he had cut down some of the shares by 4-5 minutes, it would have been more enjoyable and we would have finished on time. Overall, very good and informative, but needs to finish on time. This was the perfect choice for our family to enjoy historic Boston. Having a guide to place the locations on a time-line narration brought all of the points of interest into a logical history. An excellent tour of the Freedom Trail. We lucked out and got the owner of the company as a tour guide. Hopefully he has shared his knowledge with all of his guides, because this is one of the best tours I have ever taken. Nothing gimicky here, just excellent and interesting history from a company that loves their city and loves to educate. It was as laid-back as it was informative. It is a long hike (2-2.5 miles?), but not grueling. Wear comfortable shoes and dress for the weather, but don't worry about not being able to keep up. There are plenty of stops and shade. There are bathroom opportunities near the start, the middle, and the end of the tour. My entire family (adults, age 26-64) agrees that this tour needs to be on your family's agenda! read more

We took the tour called- Freedom Trail: Small Group Tour of Revolutionary Boston and our guide was Nick Roberts. Nick was awesome! I wish my history teachers in high school and college had been as engaging and fair in their approach to the subject. I came away from this tour with a better understanding of the motivations behind the events and not just names, places and dates. Nick was SO good at drawing you into the story of how America came to be rather than just talking at you. I truly have a better appreciation for history than when I was younger. We took a tour with Darcy Daniels of the Boston Freedom Trail in November 2022 and it was the highlight of our trip. Despite freezing cold temps, Darcy kept my 3 teens, my husband and me completely engaged on the tour. She had really interesting insights into the personalities of the Revolutionary War Who's Who, which was especially interesting to us. Of course, she knew all the dates and facts of everything as well. Darcy is thoughtful, factual, engaging and a great story-teller. We thoroughly enjoyed a 3.5 hour tour with Ted and the time just flew by. With a city so rich in history we were not sure where to start and Ted was a great source to tie it together. We hit most of the landmarks on the Freedom Trail. Ted was a great story teller and provided continuity for the events. My son loves history and Ted was patient and answered all of his questions. A trip to Boston would not be complete without taking this hub town tour of the freedom trail the 2 1/2 hour experience is a lesson in history that we all probably have forgotten.
