Number one…read morefor me, the landfill site in Rutherford County is nearing capacity and anything we can do to recycle will help. Secondly, recycling paper, metal, certain plastics, and glass often uses less energy and conserves natural resources. In Rutherford County, a network of recycling centers exist to service the entire county. There is one convenience center for the city of Murfreesboro. City residents can use the one near downtown or any of the county centers as city residents are also county residents. This facility is clean and well-maintained. I did not have any questions or issues but if I did, an attendant was there to assist me. Large and small containers are identified with signs so you know what material goes where. It is a self-service facility where you would take your items and deposit them yourself. I've found that recycling has reduces the amount of trash in my garbage can by over 50%, so it is not small potatoes. Recycling makes sense!

What makes it great is that it is my one stop recycling center. They offer bins for cardboard, plastic, aluminum, and glass. Plus the Goodwill drop off truck is right there. Perfect! Places to recycle are not abundant on the West side, so I'm really glad to have found it! My only complaint; they are only open until 5:00 on week days and I can never stop in after work. Even 6:00 would be reasonable for me to get there with plenty of time! Plus they have limited hours on Sunday, so you really need to get in on Saturday if at all possible. Now that I've gone green, I just can't go back! :)

As a local who frequents here from my house or from work to do a run to the dump. What I've noticed…read moreis half of the folks that work there are kind/chill/helpful and redirect you appropriately. The other half is when you mess up by accidentally putting trash in the wrong bin they'll lay into you like they've been waiting on someone to mess up and dig at you. It's like their little dumb garbage kingdom they take pride in keeping an orderly manner there lol. They'll yell at anyone who accidentally places trash in the wrong bin instead of just calling out kindly to what that person just threw in. I know that these folks that work there do get walked over on some days more than others by the public that comes in. Since my building does not offer recycling services (we're still in the South and way behind the…read morecurve sometimes), I have to either hire someone or haul it myself. I prefer this center since it's somewhat of a nice drive, fairly easy to access, open 24/7/365(6), and located directly next to a park if I want some green space time, too, thereby making my trip efficient. It's usually cleanish, but in my last few visits the place looks more like a dumping ground; specifically the cardboard bins. They are stuffed and overflowing to the point where folks just pile their cardboard on the ground next to the containers. (Unless it's me who wants to find every tiny space in the bins to shove the cardboard into.) Perhaps this is due to the increase in ship-to-home? Regardless, it's a problem that I've not yet seen a resolution to. I've actually been delaying hauling my recyclables knowing that the holidays have likely only added to the frustration of bin availability. Since this center is located in the back corner of the lot for McGavock High School, there is ample parking for unloading recyclables. However, turning into the lot from the road can be a bit tight. It's just a weird turn for some odd reason. Also, when the buses are running for the school year, keep an eye out for them as they will come flying into this lot for overnight parking. Since I last took photos, there are updated signs to instruct what can and cannot be placed into the bins. I recently noticed on the Nashville.gov website that the recyclables list has changed. I was sad to learn that some of the plastic containers that are 100% recyclable the city can no longer take only because they do not have a buyer for those specific items. I also learned some of my paper pieces were too small, so now when I scrub my mail I make sure to take care to leave the paper in larger pieces so they're recyclable. Anyway, the list is very well assembled and incredibly detailed. What's the point in recycling if we don't do it correctly? Go check it out.

I would give negative stars if I could. I've been with this company for over ten years. Ten years…read moreof price increases and spotty pick ups that I've rolled with, but now, I've had it. They are supposed to come every Monday. That switched to Tuesday then Wednesday then sometimes not at all, yet they still manage to send their bills on time and expect prompt payment. After being guaranteed a pick up yesterday which saw us staying home the entire day waiting on them, they didn't show. We called today (MULTIPLE times because they disconnect their phone when they don't want to answer it), and when we finally reached someone she got an attitude and said if we didn't like the way things were going, cancel....so we did. I would have given up cable before the convenience of having trash pick up as opposed to going to the dump. They took the convenience out and so I'm out.
