Amazing park for riding, running or bicycling. Trails are well kept and great scenery

Gorgeous park along the Huron river between Ann Arbor and Dexter. Tons of amenities including an 18-hole golf course, disc golf course, picnic areas, playgrounds, baseball diamonds, biking and hiking trails, nature trails, river fishing, and boat launches for canoes and kayaks. My husband and I brought our pups here for a little outdoor time during social distancing and despite it being a gorgeous Saturday early-evening we didn't run into any one else on any of the trails we explored. So it's a really great spot to enjoy some outdoor adventures without worrying about getting too close to other people. Beautifully maintained, tons of parking and pup friendly! Just remember bug spray if you get into the woods/near the river. I forgot and got eaten up quite a bit! read more

It was an awesome sunny afternoon in early May with temps approaching 60 degrees...the perfect time for a bike ride. Michigan's Washtenaw County has created a 35-mile "Border-to-Border" paved bicycle trail that winds from Dexter through Tree Town (Ann Arbor) and on to Yipsilanti. Much of the trail is off-road and provides plenty of welcomed shade and river views on a hot summer day. Today, my wife and I chose to ride 10 miles of the B2B Trail in the Dexter area that winds through the Hudson Mills Metropark. Given the pandemic, we saw plenty of courteous walkers, joggers and bikers sharing the 10-foot wide trail which enabled effective social distancing. The Hudson Mills Metropark section of the trail in Dexter is a true gem that offers fresh air, sunshine and the opportunity to get some welcomed exercise. We look forward to the time when we can once again stop into the Riverview Restaurant after our bike ride and enjoy a breakfast or lunch. Until then, we're staying safe in Dexter. 5 stars! read more

Volunteering as a driver to students in IHAA to take them here for fire works on July 2nd . We reached there around 7.20pm and it already crowded but the park is huge so it was not congested. The entrance is $10 and they had organized it pretty well and the parking was hassle free due to their guidance. Office center to provide any information you need and they have clean restrooms. Sand Volleyball courts and good tracks for running/walking. read more

I was traveling along North Territorial Road, avoiding the expressways in an attempt to have a nice drive home from Jackson. I happened upon Hudson Mills Metropark and thought I'd stop in, especially since my vehicle was displaying an annual park pass and I hadn't used it more than twice this year. The occasion was on Saturday of Labor Day weekend, and I thought there would be a bigger crowd than was there. Evidently, most people chose to go somewhere else that day, but I found small groups of people scattered here and there. It was serene enough that I was able to watch a small deer eating apples under the tree near a pedestrian pathway, yet the deer was not spooked by my presence and close proximity. I spent the bulk of my time near the river where it flows under North Territorial Road, a bit of rapids to be observed there. I ventured upstream a little and found a paved bike path along the road. I need to remember to get my bike out one of these days and hit the bike paths in the area. All in all, a very pleasant Metropark experience in the southeast Michigan area. read more

Nice place to go biking or walk the dog. Well maintained, not crowded nature area. The Huron river is clean enough to take a swim in too.

Love this metro park! So many things to do and the paths are well kept. Great place to start kayaking from and the park is very clean.

We've seen record snowfall this January. I've heard a ton of people complaining about the weather. And I'm like BRING ON THE SNOW! Cross country skiing at Hudson Mills is where some of the fun is at this time of year. $30 gets you an annual pass to all area metroparks ($7 daily). And for a mere $13, you can rent boots, skis, and poles in the visitor center on weekends. I'm gonna buy my own set soon so I can go for free. Ski trails are conveniently marked Easiest, Difficult, and More Difficult. There's no huge steep hills so don't be afraid but for a beginner like me, More Difficult trails mean big thrills and big spills! Trails take you through a scenic winter wonderland through forests, frozen ponds, and alongside the Huron River. Bring a snack because they got picnic areas complete with benches and tables. In addition to skiing, there are also family fun events throughout the year. I skied past a group of kids snowshoeing through the woods. There was also a bunch of tikes playing on swings and slides. Also, this time of year, it can be difficult to find good places to run outdoors. That's not a problem at Hudson Mills! A 3-mile paved running trail winds through the scenic woods and across bridges over the Huron River. They do a phenomenal job making sure the trail is clear of snow and ice. Today, we got a couple inches of fresh snow and runners were out and about on those trails and walking their dogs. I'm definitely not ready for the winter to be over partly thanks to this park. However, I'm also excited to visit Hudson Mills during warmer months as well. I noticed a disc golf course I want to try out. read more

I've been to all but two it the HC MetroParks, and Hudson Mills is the Crown Jewel. The Huron River is the main artery and provides backdrop and in some places, center stage, to a host of activities. Running, walking, biking, disc golf, hiking, nature trails, wildlife galore, fishing, kayaking, picnics, canoeing, tennis, soccer, kids playground, baseball...all in a setting that's clean &well-groomed. read more

Wow, I wish I lived near this park. We went for a hike/walk and then had a picnic lunch over Memorial Day weekend. I would have loved to have had my bike with me. The paths were not difficult, not crowded and through beautiful fields and woods. The Huron River goes through the park and while we were eating, we watched the canoes and kayaks running down the river. It might even be tame enough for me, though it was moving fairly quickly this early in the summer. I would love to visit here again. read more

Wonderful multi-use park, with one of the easiest (flat, paved) bike paths around, a manageable size for young kids at ~5 miles. Great playground area by the activity center, surrounded by soccer fields, tennis, basketball, and volleyball courts, disc golf, picnic benches, etc. Like the other metroparks, pay a vehicle entry fee (or annual pass for all the parks). read more

We have been to this park for July 4th, fireworks for the last five years. It's a great family event. Community, family, and tons of fun. The traffic could be managed better, but it's expected. read more

This has become one of our favorite Metroparks. The park has lots of parking, clean restrooms, easy launch access to the Huron River for tubing, canoeing, and kayaking. Also, the Border 2 Border Trail can be accessed from the park. The trail is a nice ride with a number of elevation changes. It's nice being able to ride the trail into Downtown Dexter and enjoy the pub before heading back. read more

Hudson Mills Metropark has a three-mile paved loop. A nice distance, if your legs are up to that pace. If that's too much, just walk a little bit and turn around. The pavement has lane markings, now greatly faded. That's to allow the roller bladers and bicycles to pass. Stay to the right edge of the pavement if you hear something coming up behind you. We used to live just a few miles down the road from this place. We would purchase the annual pass, and make good use of it. We went for the fourth of July fireworks a couple of times. Crowded, but good fun. There is also an antique tractor show there that hubby and I greatly enjoyed. Get out and get into some nature! If your license plate has the tiny "P" on the yearly tab, that means you paid an extra $10 when you renewed your plate for the "Michigan Recreation Passport." This park has nice walking and biking trails. The lake is very pretty as well. I did not check out the fishing as peers were out of the water. I visited last Sunday so only one family was there riding bikes. The water park looked pretty small but the location is convenient. The road leading to the park is pitted, dirt road so be prepared to wash your truck. read more

Fun for the whole family year round... Great trails for walking, biking, rollerblading, dog walking, etc. My 7 year old son loves the playground although I don't like the fact that dogs aren't allowed in the playground area. The volleyball and tennis area is also very nice for groups, along with the well-kept picnic shelters! I don't play disc golf, but I know it's a very popular spot for that! read more

Beautiful walking trail: around a 45 minute walk. The river here is quite beautiful. Watch the canoes and kayaks go by. Or go and rent one and see the park from the water instead of seeing the water from the park. read more

Great for rollerblading. Continuous asphalt bike/ped path, generally flat with some long sweeping inclines, in generally good condition with just a few breaks for bridges over the river or intersections with park drives. Most curb cuts are sealed (though not perfectly), making this a good place for a beginning or intermediate skater. Also the people are nice---we (okay, *I*) lost our keys in the grass, after almost an hour of searching found that the driver's door of our car had been unlocked, panicked thinking someone had burglarized the car, and only later discovered the keys neatly tucked under one of the wiper blades and all of our belongings present: someone had found our keys in the grass and *literally checked every matching car in the entire parking lot* until they found the one whose doors they unlocked. That's like 18 cars. read more

Hubby and I have a date each Sunday morning to buy coffee and walk Hudson Mills. With each walk I wonder how we got so lucky to live in a place that provides us with a park like Hudson Mills. I can not think of one downside to this lovely place. I always feel safe, there are different paths so walking, biking, running, etc. never gets boring, the people and pets are friendly and the wildlife abundant. Hudson Mills is wonderful. Hudson Mills is THE spot to go and toss disc. With over 97 holes to play on, it is a course to be reckoned with. I used to live down the street and play several times a week. I highly suggest anyone who plays disc golf to get in their car and scoot out there on the next nice day. Bring lots of water, lather on the sun screen and have plenty of time to be out on the course. The holes are pretty long and most of them are not in the shade of the trees. You can really bake your face off, especially around the 6th hole on the original course. The second course called "the monster" is one of the more challenging courses around. Several tournaments are held at this course and it truly is a test of skill. Most of the metro parks are pretty nice, this is no exception. The grounds are meticulously maintained and there is virtually no litter. This is a huge park with miles of trails to hike and get lost in. If you are coming off 23 and heading to the course, keep your eyes peeled for Alexander's- an awesome produce stand that is right off the freeway on your way to the course.
