This time we hiked into the .7 mile trail, but turned back when it got slippery and muddy due to melting snow. The weather was beautiful and we enjoyed the clean, fresh air in 58° weather on Easter Sunday!

Every new town is a new opportunity to become familiar with the local library. This library may be…read moresmall, but it has everything a patron might like: audio books, print books, DVDs, computer check out, and so much more. In addition to the Banned Books Week display of books challenged through the years, there was a current display about Pueblo County through the years. Masks are required at this time (10/7/21). Disposable masks for adults and children are available at the front door, along with hand sanitizer. The bathrooms were clean and the song list on the mirror reminded us to wash for at least 20 seconds. A table by the exit doors had brochures and leaflets of ongoing activities in the area.

This is a great library. Great books (of course), current fiction and non fiction, audio books,…read moreDVDs, magazines, local guidebooks, children's books. And best of all: handheld GPS for Geocaching! Also access to online book rentals. Great staff: Anne, Sandy, Amber, Josh all willing to help. Super kids reading program in the summer. The teen room is the only thing that needs improvement. It's tiny. The teens use the computers to play loud video games. Not a complete or current selection of teen fiction. Either the teens of La Veta don't care about the library, or the library doesn't want the teens. Chicken or the egg? However, I think build a great teen room and they will come! I still give this library a 5 Star! Bonus: no fines for overdue books. I don't know why, but that rocks too!
