Been with Huhtala for 17 years. Heard a lot of bad things, but never experienced anything until now. I pay up front and when I checked they never came - no oil, no footprints in the snow. So I called and they said that the GPS showed they were at my house and they described the house. They tried blaming it on the gage. No problem with the gage when I had another company come out. I'm out $229 because they say that they delivered. Bunch of crooks! read more

This business is wonderful. When we moved into our new home they left a note in our door advertising their service. This was our first time owning an oil heated Home, so we decided to go with them. I ordered a fill up on oil and a propane tank. Service was prompt and courteous and they are a pleasure to deal with on the phone. I am a local homeowner and landlord so I probably have more experience with this company than you will get in a lifetime. The oil is reasonably low priced and I've never had oil quality problem. I've had many service calls, mostly routine maintenance. Huhtala stands out in three emergency situations: 1 I had a tiny leak in my oil tank in Rutland. I told them to take their time but Huhtala treated it like an emergency. They have the experience to know that oil leaks can be a disaster so they jump on it when called. 2 In one of the coldest spells a couple years ago, my tenant calls at 8pm with no heat. Huhtala sent a guy ASAP, he worked to unfreeze the power venter. Because they were prompt, my pipes did not freeze and my tenant was able to spend the night in his house. 3 A guy named Lindsay spent a little more time than absolutely necessary to teach me the things that might go wrong (and that I should replace) on a new house I bought so that heat would be reliable for my tenant. 4 They have expert staff to give quotes and advice for new equipment when necessary. read more

As a new homeowner in 2015, I ran out of heating oil in October. I called several oil companies in the greater Gardner Area, and Huhtala Oil was the only company that was able to come through for us. Now I buy my heating oil from them. Any time I have to call to speak with someone they are courteous and take the time to answer all my questions. Their service technicians are experts at their craft and politely answer my questions also. Huhtala Oil is a great company that should meet all your home heating needs. read more

I was a good and loyal client of theirs for about 2 years. There where a few problems. First they tried to charge me for something I didn't need. Another time I called for a delivery on Wednesday for a delivery friday. They said friday was a holiday and would deliver Thursday but they will have to charge me an emergency delivery fee. Now the only reason why I called on Wednesday is because they will only delivery when my tank is below 20%. So on Wednesday it was below 20%. Now the whole time I was a client. They would let me pay a few days after deliveryman when the money was in the account. I called for a delivery on monday for a delivery on Wednesday. And I would pay on Friday. They told me no that is not how it is done. I said wait a minute it has been like this the whole time in was a client. They said sorry it should have never been allowed. We will auto bill you the next day. My response was you can't start something with a client then change it when it suites you. They are a pain in the butt to deal with. I needed my propane tank filled they said someone needed to inspect it because we own our own. Fine, but two weeks before someone can "look" at it and then I'd still need to arrange for delivery. MOC arranged for them to put in my burner, the guys were great, but somehow I still need someone to "inspect" my tank before I can get a delivery. You're telling me they didn't do that when they installed my burner. Wouldn't mind, but they can't even give me a window of when they will be here "I don't know it all depends on the driver's route that day" really who has an entire day to wait for the oil man. Even Cable gives you a window!! By the way this is the only company I know of that demands to insect the tank before delivery. Pioneer Valley inspected my propane tank when they delivered and I didn't need to miss work. They also, filled my oil no questions asked. read more
