Generally looking for cigars at a train station is only a last effort for picking up a generic…read moreHabanos like a Montecristo 4 to smoke when you completely run out of cigars. Our train to Wien was not for an hour so I was looking to kill the time so I went into Tabak Egger. Much to my pleasant surprise they have a fairly large, glass walled walk in humidor that feels very well maintained. Inside the humidor is a great selection of both Habanos and non-Cuban (including Davidoff lines) cigars. The pleasant young man that is helping me says that the owner of the shop is an avid cigar smoker. This was evident after looking at his well thought out selection. I very happily walked out of the shop with a handful of Ramon Allones Specially Selected (out of a 50 count SLB), a few Trinidad Esmeralda's and a couple Coloniales. On this trip I have visited 28 tobacconists in 10 countries and Tabak Egger had the third best selection of larger size Habanos. During the pandemic it has been exceptionally difficult to obtain any Habanos robusto size or larger however Egger had them. If you are looking for a quality tobacconist in Salzburg I highly recommend visiting Tabak Egger in the hauptbahnhof. Very nice store with excellent cigar selection and great customer service!

I was told Salzburg didn't have a decent pipe/cigar shop. That's wrong. This is an honest-to-goodness tobacconist....in a train station between escalators to the various tracks. The young man that helped me knew his stuff. I walked out with a reasonably priced and locally made pipe decorated with carved Edelweiss (how perfect is that?!). They have plenty of big-end pipes here too. Pipe tobacco selection isn't crazy huge but decent and varied. Unless your crazy picky you will find something here to smoke while you stroll the gorgeous streets of Salzburg. The cigar walk-in humidor is pretty huge too although I didn't buy anything from that. Walked out with a couple of pouches of pipe tobacco to boot along with the aforementioned pipe. Recommend if you are visiting Salzburg and need tobacco products.
