BLUF: Cute, classy and on-trend clothing, accessories and gifts on the main thoroughfare of Bryson City. Humanite is definitely one of the nicest stores on Everett Street in Bryson City. Whereas many of the stores are full of souvenirs, Humanite sells fashionable clothing and accessories that are on trend but also classy. They also have lots of fun gift-y items. The store has pretty displays so aside from perusing the merchandise it was fun to see how they had everything styled. Upon entering from the quaint screen door it was a really nice visit and I can see how ladies of all ages would find something special here to take home with them. First of all, the prices make my head hurt. Secondly, I drove from Cullowhee to the Bryson City location after the Sylva location closed for good ONLY FOR THE SHOP TO BE CLOSED AS WELL. Online the store said to be open till 7 but instead it was 6. Not happy. read more

Was here in Bryson City on a weekend trip with my mom and we decided to hop in while it was storming! We were greeted and the lady working there was so sweet! She talked to my mom while I tried on clothes and even told me how flattering the outfits were! I ended up buying 2 new shirts, a dress, and some super comfy tights! Love, love this store! Every week there is new amazing clothing and fabulous accessories! Updated my daughter's "interview" wardrobe on Tuesday. We found great versatile pieces she and my wallet both loved! Plus the staff is pretty awesome too! MaryRita is the best and has a great eye for helping you find pieces that make you look and feel beautiful! I live this shop however in Bryson the selection is a bit smaller. If you have the time I recommend going to one of their other stores or online. Their online selection is amazing, and I believe shipping is very reasonable. With only a few pieces in store I think the prices are average - pricey but the clothing and necklaces are so cute! read more

Very sadly, we had a death in our immediate family. After a family breakfast next door, my sister decided to shop Humanité. She had shopped here before and loved her previous purchases. This visit she purchased a few clothing items. It was when she drove the 6 hours back home and went to unpack that she saw the back of one of the shirts which she had purchased had about a 6 inch "tear". Actually it was a sewing mistake connecting the fabric that left the shirt unfinished. It was a product defect, not a tear. When she came back to Bryson (1 week later) I drove her to the store to exchange the shirt which was not worn and had all the tags on it. The staff refused to exchange it, refused to offer a refund, and stated "all sales are final". What?? I couldn't believe a high end store sold an item (CLEARANCE ITEM OR NOT!) that was severely defected and refused to offer a new item or exchange or refund!! I find this store is lacking in HUMANITY!!! Our family (who is also "Smith" family) will not be shopping anymore in any of their locations. read more

I stopped at the Sylva location not too long ago looking to buy the 828 hat that my sister absolutely loved. I was thrilled that I found where it was being sold and thought I would go in and buy a few things for myself. I walked in and wasn't even greeted by the two women standing at the cashier. The store was empty so they weren't really busy and they weren't doing anything other than talking to each other. They just looked at me with a disgusted look on their faces and went straight back to talking. As I was looking around I found the hat my sister loved so much, so I happily kept going along through the store to try to find a few clothing items for myself. I was never offered any help, not a single word was said to me as the two girls whispered to each other behind the counter. I really did not want to support this business, but I couldn't turn down a great present. It's a shame that a cute, small town boutique has such nasty people because I would've happily come back and shopped many times if it wasn't for that experience. If it's up to me, I wouldn't even shop here and would willingly drive an hour to Asheville to shop their boutiques instead. read more
