The food used to be good but I'm not sure what happened. Their egg rolls used to be a decent size and at least seemed like they were him made & the sesame beef was awesome - sweet & tangy fried bits of beef coated in sesame seeds. Not anymore..... The egg roll was flat and obviously heated up from frozen & the sesame beef was awful. The beef itself was spongy almost as if it'd been boiled (it definitely wasn't fried) and the sauce was so bland I could barely tell there was any. The kicker is that I ordered SESAME beef and there wasn't one sesame seed anywhere. The only saving graces were the vegetables and rice. The veggies were fresh and gave some flavor to the otherwise tasteless dish and the rice added some texture. This seems to be the M.O. of a lot of Chinese restaurants - start out with good food to build a client base then switch over to inferior ingredients & charge more money for it. Since not really having a hood neighborhood option I opted to drive here to try it based on reviews and I was so glad I did. Walked in and floors were clean. The food comes in Tupperware so you get less food but the quality was A-1 so far we went to the park twice and had a fancy little picnic being they aren't far from heritage park.. They have the duck sauce, forks, spoons and extra plates available. The food was very good. I ordered almond chicken and house fried rice and the gravy was dark. Some places have a lighter sauce. I also ordered house fried rice and vegetables on another occasion and it was very good also. Sesame chicken and General Taos chicken was so good. Texture was perfect. Ordered Family Meal for 3. It was great! Generous portions. The food was so good that we didn't mind an hour and 45 min wait for delivery (which was Door Dash's fault, not the restaurant's.) So we were hangry and tired and the food arrived. And we quickly realized how much different this place is. And forgot all about the crazy long wait. Everything was fresh and tasty. Seasoned perfectly. Balanced. Not greasy or overly salted. Depth of flavor. For example, the eggrolls have some sort of horseradish in them. Little sophisticated touches like that, combined with the freshest ingredients, differentiate this restaurant. The soups were delicious. Some of the tastiest Won Tons ive had. The fried rice had fresh onions that weren't overcooked but instead still had a little crisp to them and a slight bite, which cuts through the fat of the rice. I found New Hunan amongst my close potential list of places to get lunch downriver. It's been one of the few chinese places I've tried around here, but it has brought me back countless times for a couple reasons: 1) great lunch specials. $5 for a choice of 27 menu items in lunch portions, along with chicken fried rice and wonton, egg drop or hot and sour soup. It will more than fill you up. 2) everything is made fresh. the kitchen is open and you can watch the cooks make your food. Some Chinese places use weird sauces and pass sauces off as something else, they don't do that here. 3)Prices for pints and quarts are totally reasonable, and all come with steamed rice. 4) I just ordered the steamed dumplings (8 for $5), they were perfect. 5) Service is always quick, I can pick up an order in ten minutes. I'm still giving this four stars because there are only a couple tables to eat on (it's really more of a takeout spot), and it kind of just fulfills all the things I expect from a decent Chinese-American place, but doesn't go far beyond that. read more

We ordered food from here through DoorDash.com, NO fault of Doordash, I had never ordered from this place before & decided to give it a try ..... But, this food really wasn't that good. When the food arrived, it was fresh & hot, but there was absolutely no flavor. The egg rolls are all cabbage, Shrimp with Lobster sauce was very bland. We also got Crab Rangoon & it was not great but better than the rest of the meal. I won't be ordering from here again. Oh, they also charged us extra for plum sauce & soy sauce? The food was hot and pretty good. The pork egg roll was amazing and so were the almond cookies. However, too much rice, not enough vegetables or beef. For $13, all I really got was a bunch of rice and two small portions of meat. The steak tasted overcooked and gooey. The sweet and sour chicken was really good. Wasn't expecting ambrosia when I came to this place for a quick carry out dinner. However, I was totally disgusted when I bit into the pork. The meat had already turned dark, and it tasted rancid. I ordered through Doordash and I'm not sure why so many complaints from the other yelpers but my food was piping hot when it arrived it wasn't greasy and it didn't taste old everything I ordered was fresh and extra delicious! My only complaint is they don't send any condiments I'm guessing only if you order it. I ordered Beef Fried Rice I got no Soy Sauce and had I not paid for sauce for the spring rolls I don't think I would have gotten any because if I paid for one and only got one they was never going to send me any without me ordering it. No Chinese place ever had not sent things such as soy sauce. However, the food was good, there are no eggs in the rice tho and very little bean sprouts I would have liked some eggs in it and more bean sprouts. I also ordered Yat Gaw Mein Soup it was piping hot nice broth flavor no salt just all natural. I also ordered spring rolls you get two piping hot rolls so crunchy and good! I had to give this horrible place 1 star just to get the review to post. This is positively the worst American style Chinese food I've ever had. I, and my family, threw most of it out. I was sent there by a relative that was nearby but never tried it. I was in my way to visit a family member and bring food to the group. As soon as I walked in, it smelled of old frying oil and the cleanliness was marginal, but it's a carry out place. The order was placed my family and I just picked up. We ordered almond boneless chicken combo, sweet n sour chicken combo, sweet n sour pork combo, shrimp fried rice, egg rolls, egg drop soup and beef and broccoli combo. So a lot of food. We all took some of the dinners, it was not good at all. The soup was good but that's it. The chicken and pork were all dark in color, indicative of old oil. Egg rolls are cabbage and dark as well. I've had two bad experiences with the restaurant. I made the mistake of going here for a second time. The first occasion I ordered Chicken Chop Suey. I was disappointed to find all the vegetables soggy and there wasn't much chicken. I decided to give them a second change. Much worse than the first occasion. I order Shrimp and Brocolli. I ate 3-bites and had to stop. There was black smut inside the carry out container and there was so much oil in the sauce it bled thru the paper bag. I believe the black smut was dirt from unwashed vegetables or an unclean cooking vessel. The white rice was also coated in oil. Worst so called Chinese food I've ever had.
