Best black bean noodles (jjajangmyeon) I've ever had!!! Will be back to try more dishes.

Hunan Deli has three different types of food cuisine: Chinese, American Chinese, and Korean. Besides this unique quality, they have four different Korean squid dishes to try on their menu. I wanted to try a Korean squid dishes I had a long time ago yet I ordered the wrong one. I ordered Ojingeo Deopbap - 오징어 덮밥 , marinated squid with cabbage & rice instead of Ojingeo bokkeum (오징어 볶음) a spicy stir-fried squid dish. It was still very good to eat but not the dish I preferred more. My takeout came with side dishes to sample also known as Banchan 반찬 and miso soup. I loved that they added these side dishes and the white rice with my entree was good. Prices were fair. Service was friendly despite some difficulty in communication. The ambiance was simple and seemed like a takeout place more than a restaurant. I definitely want to try more entrees there in the future. read more

A decent place for lunch if you want a lot of food and carbs. Came here for the first time and wasn't sure what to expect. You get a lot of food regardless of what you pick on the menu. I ended up with what is in the picture which is a mixture of pork and noodles with lots of rice. The food was ok, but if I were to go there again, I'd pick something different. read more

A hidden gem. Really great Korean Chinese food or home style Korean dishes. A husband and wife shop that treat you like family.

This spot has excellent Korean-Chinese food! From the moment I stepped in, the cozy, homey atmosphere made it feel like a small neighborhood gem. We ordered the Samsun Gan Jjajang and Khan Pung Sal (essentially boneless wings), and both dishes were delicious. The noodles in the Jjajang had the ideal balance of chewiness and softness, and they were generous with the flavorful sauce. The wings were perfectly crispy with just the right amount of spice. As for service, we didn't have any issues--our server was warm and welcoming. Would definitely love to be back! read more

Small Korean-Chinese restaurant in an industrial area in Lorton. I've eaten here since 2000 and always received good service and food. It's been a while since I visited last time, like several years. I realized that the owner changed since then, but I can still see the owner cooking himself and clearing the table with a big smile. Taste is also amazingly and very close to authentic. As a Jajangmyun lover and critic this is my honest review... I tried this spot out and had low expectations but was pleasantly surprised. We ordered tangsuyuk, jjm, and jjambbong. The Tangsuyuk was fried perfectly and the sauce reminded me of the old traditional style tangsuyuk sauce (light colored). I also liked the deep flavor of the jjambbong and the portions for both noodle dishes however I found them to be too salty for my taste (You will want to refill your water). If you eat the noodle dishes, you have been warned... you will most likely wake up with a swollen face the next day due to the salt and portion of noodles. For a hole in the wall this restaurant is decent and I think it's on par or even slightly better than the spots in Annandale. read more

Tasty Korean food close by. Wish there were more bancha, but it is not a bbq place. Have not had the Korean Style Chinese food, not the American style. Haven't been to Hunan Deli in a while, but after a disappointing Korean meal in Annandale, I decided to give them a go. Ordered a small Khan Pung Sal (boneless fried chicken thighs in sweet and spicy sauce). Crispy like karaage, so it holds up to the sauce, which made me break a Sichuan numbing pepper sweat. If you like it spicy, they will not disappoint. I ordered a small, but could barely finish half. I imagine a large would feed a family of four. I'd skip the American Chinese menu and go for the Korean or the Korean Chinese options. With the weather getting cooler, there's plenty of hot, spicy soups on the menu, and their wings are better than Bonchon. Plenty of Korean customers and military who probably were stationed in Korean and got a taste for the food. Highly recommended. read more

This is our go to place for Korean-Chinese dishes. Every dish I've tried is on point and believe me, I've tried many. The spice levels are perfect and the flavor is there. We ordered the kimchi jjigae, kimchi stew, and the seafood Jjajangmyun, seafood black noodles. The food was fantastic but way too spicy, and that's coming from someone who grew up in Korea. The table next to me, all Koreans, were saying the Jjajangmyun was too spicy. I've actually never had Jjajangmyun that is spicy, it's not supposed to be! I could understand if they made the jambong too spicy, but definitely not Jjajangmyun. The kimchi jjigae was also extremely spicy than typical. I think the cook that day just went crazy with adding jalapeños to everything. I informed him that it was too much and he made it seem like I just couldn't handle it. So I guess depending on who's cooking the food, it can be way too spicy and I feel that takes away from the amazing food. I don't mind spice, but when you're mouth is burning to the point you can't taste anymore, that's no fun. I'll still be coming back but Im going to ask for non-spicy black noodles, which I've never had to do anywhere. Other than that, the food is fresh and delicious! The side dishes are also great! If you love Korean food and Chinese food, then you come to the right place. This is a small hole in the wall restaurant that serves excellent food. It reminded me of the little side restaurants in Korea where you can get a good home cooked meal. After leaving Korea, part of this dining experience left me as well. Finding a great authentic restaurant like this in the Ft Belvoir area is not easy to come by. The place is small with limited seating, so check before coming by. Do NOT hesitate to eat here, don't listen to the negative reviews, I'm so glad I didn't. We picked up the food & drove 15min home, everything was piping hot. So much flavor, portions were huge, I don't think my kids took breaths between eating. I've ordered Korean from many diff places throughout NVA & never gotten this many banchan (Korean side dishes) I counted 10! We even got miso soup packed as sides! I cannot wait to be back in the area so we can order from here again. No I don't have pics bc we devoured the food lol read more

This place has nothing in common with traditional USA style Chinese restaurants. This place specializes in real Korean and Chinese food. American Chinese food and real Chinese and Korean dishes are very different. 90 percent of the menu was Greek to me. Ordered combination fried rice and paid extra to add shrimp. So 20 dollars. When I got it included 4 little bowls. One had soup , the others had unknown vegetable dishes I never seen before. While the fried rice was good, I am used to American style with too much soy sauce. Rice was mostly white, not salty in any way. Not greasy. Place is small, about 4 to 5 tables. Not for a very large group. Most of the clientele was oriental and ordered in Korean. So will I go back? No. But I am not who they cater to. I believe anyone who wants real Korean food and real Chinese food will be happy there. My overall impression is that the food is cooked to high standards, but for clients who have grown up with the real oriental dishes. For them the three stars is probably a 5. read more

I know it's a total white person thing to be all pleased with one's self when at an ethnic restaurant where people of that ethnicity eat, but the wife and I were pleased-with-ourselves white folk at this strip mall storefront joint in a non-retail-y commercial strip in Lorton, Va. Friday evening, around 630, we decided to go someplace we'd not been. Human Deli has a handful of tables but it wasn't crowded and we sat quickly. Two-person operation, VERY attentive and friendly and helpful. She had her go-to bibimbap ($15). It came out sizzling hot, making the rice nice and crispy at the bottom.. Decent vegetable/meat ratio (could've done with a bit more meat). Egg was perfect. Stuffed level of food. Of note: number 41 on the menu is a cold bibimbap. Make sure to let them know if you want the hot bowl one. I got the mapo tufu ($18) - a big plate of mostly tofu cubes and vegetables in a 'my nose is running a bit' spicy sauce. Again a little light on the beef. Very tasty. Big portion - I'm a big eater and brought home leftovers. Nice array of kimchi and pickled stuff for the table. Not a fine dimming experience but the food came out lickity split, was tasty and big portions for pretty cheap. We'll go back. read more

I was lucky enough to find this place on the way down from NYC to FL down 95. I've had a lot of authentic Korean food growing up and this place is delicious! I had the LA Kalbi and Soon Dubu which were cooked to perfection and very yummy. The prices are very reasonable, the ambience warm, genuine and casual. Chloe was my server and she took wonderful care of the guests and the chef even came by to see how my food was. Service was attentive and timely. I'll be stopping by here again! read more

Major eye roll at the person who got beef and broccoli when I was here. Okay sure, it's on the menu but this is a KOREAN-CHINESE joint. Not Korean and Chinese, not really Chinese, not really Korean, but Korean-Chinese. Authentic, non-trendy, fusion food at its finest. Tangsuyuk and jjajangmyun are the must-haves. I went during COVID, so dine in didn't seem smart. But it seems like a great vibe - unpretentious, intimate, and good, hearty food. You can bet I'll be back to eat in person at some point!
