This was my first time eating here. Food was hot and fresh . The chicken was all good white meat (no nasty pieces like some places). The combination of excellent food and relaxing ambiance go together to create a memorable dining experience. The owner, Ms. Elaine Wang, is as personable as she is professional - overseeing a team of helpful wait staff and talented chefs. My two favorite dishes are Teriyaki Beef with Snow Peas and Lo-Mein Combo with beef, chicken, and shrimp. They have a diverse menu that should fit the palette of any discerning diner. I noticed the last time I visited this place was back in 2015. My review was fairly positive I see. Today I decided to take my family there as a change of pace from the places we normally frequent. The lunch specials were pretty much what I expected. You get an iced tea with your meal and soup as well. It's your typical lunch special with your big fat egg roll. I requested steamed rice instead of fried rice and found it kind of dry as if it had been sitting out for awhile. The Kung Pao Chicken is what I ordered. My son ordered the sweet & sour chicken but I think he was thinking it would be more like what he was used to...a traditional chinese style but at this place, it was your "americanized" breaded nuggets with the proverbial red sweet & sour sauce on the table. Not what he expected. Unfortunately he picked at his lunch as I could clearly see he did not like his choice. My Kung Pao Chicken was a little better. Seemed to have an excess of peanuts but the taste was good. The egg roll was fat and tasty but your typical fried fare. Nothing special. The free iced tea tasted like powdered stuff you would get if you mixed it up yourself. Kind of boring.. If you're looking for a good place to eat chinese food in Rosenberg this is probably the best you can get. This place has been in business since 1984! That's over 30 years! They also have a location in Kingwood and the service was cheerful and attentive. I guess I'm spoiled as I like my chinese food in Bellaire's Chinatown which is much more authentic tasting to me. Since my son is spoiled this way, he was rather unhappy with his experience here. But overall it was what I expected. It was convenient for us as it's close to places we needed to run our errands like Wal-Mart etc and wasn't overrun with tons of customers. A mainstay in Rosenberg, it's your typical americanized chinese fare...reasonably priced and located in a rather well worn strip center...easily accessible with plenty of parking. What a wonderful experience. We were here last week and had to have it again. We had Mongolian Beef and General Tso chicken and both were so good can't wait to have them again. I have never, ever had an unpleasant experience with anyone on the staff. The woman at the front keeps the entire place running, and she has always shown me kindness, despite always being busy and, I'm sure, stressed. The food is amazing and is consistently amazing. The environment is peaceful and welcoming. It's a great meal to take home during a rainy day and to just curl up and watch a movie with. I have been eating here since the 90's and still haven't found a Chinese restaurant I like better! I was a hesitant Chinese food eater until I started eating here. I fell in love with their shrimp fried rice - it's full of shrimp! I also love the World Noodle Soup (a friend got me to try this). I have enjoyed trying a lot of different dishes on their menu. I was trying to avoid the sweeter dishes until I recently learned I can ask for the sweetness of the Sesame Chicken to be lessen! I like it a lot more this way! If you go before 2:30 you can order off the lunch menu. The servings are still enough. I still usually go home with leftovers. read more

On Saturday our family went to Hunan Garden Chinese Restaurant in Rosenberg and noticed that the amount of the bill $131 was charged three times on my account. So we wait until today when they open to go in and speak with them regarding the charges. As I walk in the tall lady (owner)was standing at the door and I told her the situation. She quickly responded with "it's mother's day and I don't have time, come back another day" she is known to be extremely rude which is why my coworkers and I do not go here for lunch any more. but it was my brother's choice as it was his. birthday. I told her that that was not my problem and my problem is my card was charged three times and it would need to be rectified. As my mom said that was our waiter he knows the owner YELLED at my mom and said "he is just a busboy and cant do anything" I got very heated and told her don't talk to my mom like that. She walked away and didn't acknowledge that we were there. Everybody went on about their business and didn't try to help. We weren't getting anywhere so as we were leaving her daughter had the nerve to say "ADIOS" and smile. Yes I felt that was a bit racist. We will have to call and dispute the charges with our bank on Monday. Be cautious when you go to Hunan Garden and check your account. Attempted to go there for lunch today with my mom and daughter because of the reviews. We were seated and so were the women who came in after us. We ordered water and waiting to order food. We were ignored as staff walked by our table repeatedly and the people who came in after us received their soup. Not willing to beg people to take our money, we decided to leave. I walked to a staff member to let them know that we were leaving. He brushed me off as I tried to speak to him and stating that it was fine and that there would be no charge. This place is pillar of the community of Rosenberg. They have been a go-to for my family since I was a little kid. This is where we have birthday celebrations, Saturday night dinners, and any other event. Elaine is the greatest and will do everything she can to please her customers. She comes to the tables and greets everyone, offering suggestions and explaining dishes. The waiters are quite friendly and quick to refill drinks. I have spent 22 out of the 25 years of my life eating at this restaurant. THE PERFECT SOUP: - This restaurant has the best Hot and Sour soup in the world!!! I actually have tried every other Chinese food hot and sour in Sugar Land, Rosenberg, and Houston a.k.a. any Chinese food place around 59 (Southwest FWY) south of 45. There is nothing like this soup. Try it and you're hooked for life. FOOD: - The lo mein is perfect and delicious and the walnut shrimp is a fried delight covered in a delicious sweet brown sauce. I have been a customer since I was eating there in a high chair. HORRIBLE SERVICE: - My only star lower is that the service to dine in has left a void after my visits. Both the owners and waiting staff are completely self absorbed and rude if you are expecting any kind of traditional nice serving staff. HOWEVER, the food is worth taking to-go and enjoying at home with the family. If you are local, don't bother to deal with them. Their food stays hot in that container for a long time and you can be having a delightful dinner at home. My mother is a regular here and just about every time we are in town for a visit with the family, we have lunch at Hunan Garden. This is quite all right with me, as the food here is delicious! The owners and staff are extremely friendly and make sure your dining experience is a good one. I usually stick to the things that I know and love...pepper steak, kung pao chicken, etc. but recently I found out that they introduced a special catfish meal for their anniversary. I'm usually not too crazy about catfish, but my dad loves this dish, so when we went last I tried his and I have to say...it was wonderful! It's a large fillet fried in a panko-type breading. It's not greasy from the frying or oily from the catfish...just really light, flaky and nice. But it's even better with the special sauce that it comes with! I don't know what they put in that stuff...it's clear, a little vinegary, a little sweet, not too spicy but has pepper flakes floating all around in it...it's just delightful! I ended up eating the sauce on pretty much every dish that came to the table...we were doing sort of a family buffet style dinner. So if you're in Rosenberg and want some Chinese food, definitely make Hunan Garden your destination! read more

This is a throwback to those 1980's Chinese restaurants, when my parents took me. You don't see newer Chinese restaurant today with decor like here anymore. The menu is so Americanize it's classic, they have everything Americans think Chinese food really is. Chow-Main, Sweat & Sour, & Gen Joe's Chicken. normally if I sat at any other Chinese restaurant and seen a the menu like this. I would walk off before they served my water. The food is good above average good. I wish I could give it a better review but with my passion for Asian food. My standards are high and I know great food. Last night we finally found an awesome Chinese restaurant we love. The lady that answered the phone was incredibly polite and helpful, asking questions to make sure we ordered everything as we wanted it. When my husband picked it up, she went over the order and explained how things were made to make sure we would be happy. We ordered the general tsao's chicken, chicken with snow peas and orange beef. It was absolutely the best I've had in years. The interior of the restaurant was charming and we plan on going in for dinner soon. This place was recommended by my neighbors on NextDoor. So on a rainy day, I picked up some entrees for dinner. General Tsao's Chicken and Yu Hsiang Chicken, as well as summer rolls and crab puffs.
