Ordered take out for the first time here on a Saturday night. Can't speak on the service, other than the food was made promptly (20 minutes). The woman who took the order over the phone and at the pick up counter wasn't very personable. Seemed as if she was rushing around although the restaurant wasn't at all busy inside. Perhaps just having a bad night? We ordered Chicken Lo Mein, General Tao's, Honey Walnut Chicken, crab puffs, and spring rolls -- portions for dishes were fairly standard, all of which were just ok regarding flavor and texture. General Tso's lacked spice and the texture of the chicken was gristly. Lo Mein was average tasting. Honey Walnut Chicken actually had more spice than the General Tso's... but regardless, was pretty bland. The crab puffs had hardly any cream cheese filling, and the ends of the fried pieces were hard and chewy which was disappointing. How can you screw up a crab puff? The best thing we ate were the spring rolls which were light and crispy paired with the sweet and sour sauce. We wanted to like this place, however, there are far superior Chinese restaurants in the area. I doubt we will try again. read more

I was craving some fried rice and didn't know where to order from. I found this place on yelp and though some reviews weren't the best, some were. I'm glad I gave this place a try! The house fried rice came packed in the container and was still warm when I got home. It was evenly seasoned and tasted fresh. The vegetables weren't over cooked and the meats were delicious. It was very easy to order and the cashier was so nice. The restaurant was clean and nice inside. I can't wait to try another dish from here. read more

This was close to the eye doctor, so we tried it for lunch. It was pretty good, with a fairly complete lunch menu.

The food is always hot and fresh!!! Service is fast and friendly. When we crave good Chinese food we always pick this place!! So yummy!! Always clean! I've been served the chipped plates too, but it never bothers me. Someone mentioned that in a review it was probably due to skin color, I don't think they discriminate bc they seem very diverse. read more

This was a last-minute decision for me and my sisters to go to the other day. Service: we were seated quickly, and our drink orders were taken quickly. Our cups never went empty, and everyone was friendly. Food: The food is a very good-sized portion, and it is definitely a shareable plate. We ordered the dinner plates that came with soup, an egg roll, a Rangoon, and the dish of your choice. I chose the sweet-and-sour chicken and was not disappointed! The chicken comes without the sauce, so it stays crispy; the sauce isn't that hot pink stuff you get at other places; it was a sauce like no other. It was so very delicious! Overall: The place was a bigger restaurant, but it didn't have a ton of people in it, I think it was a Wednesday night, so I would imagine it might get busier on Fridays. Delicious food. Exemplary service. Reasonable prices. VERY clean. This place has been around for over a third of a century (!), so they are obviously doing something right. The only nit-picking detractors I can offer are as follows, and they have NOTHING to do with the quality of the meal, nor the quality of the service: The decor, tablecloths, etc are obviously worn and in need of replacement. The bar area has been used to store boxes of supplies for a while. It is unsightly, and it is also the first thing you see as you enter the restaurant. Ordered through the Favor app and right off the bat; I was missing 3 items. 2 tapioca drinks and a wonton soup. There is a disconnect between the Favor app and the restaurant that I wasn't aware of until I received my food with the receipt attached. Favor lists the soups as $1.75 each, I ordered 2 but received 1 with the receipt showing the price of $3.50. The price wasn't an issue, it was the fact that I was missing part of a meal that I ordered. Tapioca drinks are an option on the favor app; I ordered two, received zero and my receipt on the bag did not reflect that I even ordered any. Also, the restaurant menu that they attached to my food bag doesn't even list that they offer tapioca drinks. I'm not even sure why it's an option through Favor. The food; the chicken fried rice was really good. Great flavor and the chicken was moist. The one wonton soup that I did receive was really good as well. The crab puffs had very minimal filling, they were mostly fried wonton. The egg drop soup was very different from any that I've ever had; it was a very thick, cloudy/clear consistency with large chunks of egg. Absolutely not your traditional egg drop soup. The flavor surprisingly wasn't bad, if you can get past the extra thick, almost gelatinous consistency of the broth. I could not, in my opinion it was inedible. The beef lo mein noodles were very overcooked and swollen and there was way too much sauce to overcompensate. Same with the beef. I will say the veggies were very fresh and cooked perfectly. I really wanted to love this place, they've been around for 35 years so I figured that alone meant that they had to be doing something right. BEWARE if you're considering ordering through the Favor app, I'm not sure where the disconnect is; but the food selection and prices are not an accurate reflection of what they actually offer at the restaurant. read more

Have been a customer for many years now. Food is delicious, but the customer service is somewhat to be desired. The hostess, who often has her child up front, is very rude and unfriendly. We planned a non traditional Christmas this year! We wanted to do it A Christmas Carol style. Surprisingly, a ton of places were closed or not serving Peking duck! Finally we found Hunan Village. They were open and serving Peking duck! We were 30 minutes late, but they seated us with no issue. The service was a big slow, but the food was excellent! Our table ordered the appetizer sampler (poo poo platter) and egg drop soup. My husband, who doesn't eat duck, went with chicken and broccoli. The rest of the table waited patiently for the Chinese turkey... The Peking duck, carved table side was absolutely amazing!! Cooked to perfection and so crispy. We filled our bellies and were very excited to see there were leftovers for later. We will visit Hunan village again very soon! read more

If I could give this place NO STARS I would! My wife and my Mother in Law and I my teenage son were treated VERY RUDELY and UNPROFESSIONALLY. They started out by ignoring us for quite a long time. When they did bring us food, it was on SEVERELY CRACKED stoneware plates, When we said something about it, we were treated with disdain. We were told "When you make your mind up, let us know". Our wonton soup was cold, and when we asked could they warm it up they seemed as if we should just sit there and shut up. They warmed it up to SCALDING. We wondered if our skin color had anything to do with it. Upon seeing others who were of a different persuasion being smiled at, graciously led to their seats, and given exemplary plates and silverware, I began to realize it may have been a color thing, I never play the race card, but I know what I experienced, and I will not be back, and will inform everyone who looks like me that they may not be welcome. We are very gracious people and overly good tippers, but.. My 75 year old mother in law asked for a paper bag, and they repeated what she said twice, and said we don't have a paper bag, we have a plastic bag, as if we didn't know the difference. You should never insult a guests intelligence. No one wants to be spoken to in a condescending manner. Such condescending language was even picked up by my teenage son, stating he didn't feel comfortable there. We were very hungry and tired from a long day, and finding another place would have been a great inconvenience for us. I spent 63.00 to be treated like a second class citizen. We ordered Kung po beef with a side of fried rice and chicken lo mein, the Kung po beef had massive chunks of pretty much raw bell peppers and onions like to the point it was unedible(unless you love chunks of bell pepper) if they would have sliced them the dish would've been better....not good still but better. The rice was pretty bland not too much flavor. The chicken lo mein was flat out disgusting, the chicken chunks tasted spoiled and it had so many vegetables...here again just huge pieces of barely cooked veggies and hardly any noodles. I was honestly afraid to eat my chicken because I didn't want to get food poisoning. The staff seem uninterested and unattentive. I am not truly what you would call a connoisseur of Chinese food as I am a very finicky eater with lots of things I don't like...that said...I love Hunan Village and we go there from Huntsville. My choice is Sweet n Sour Pork and Egg Rolls....their rice is good but I mostly don't eat rice. My husband says everything is good. My first time to dine at this restaurant . The fried spring rolls were crisp and fresh... inside and out! The steamed pork dumplings were also fresh and not over cooked which would have resulted in 'gummy' dumplings...awesome! My entree was broccoli chicken and it was fabulous in that the vegetables were still crisp! Service was prompt; servers were awfully quiet though! The minuses were chipped china and plastic drinking glasses. Additionally, during the pandemic, the sauces and various condiments should not have been left on the table for sanitation purposes. The food was cold and took forever. Delivery is listed at 50 mins, so I ordered at 4:50pm on the QMenu app which Was confirmed a couple minutes later and never updated after that. Around 6:06, I called to find out what was going on and was told the driver had another order far away but had mine with him. No apology or anything. Yes it is a nice place for conversations as it is quiet. However after changing owners the staff is horribly rude. Food is heavy on the sugary side. Hope you like dishes for American sweet tooths. Went again today and I guess the complaints last time about the service and cold food made a difference!!! The waiter remembered us and that we vowed to never return. We all had a good laugh.
