My colleagues must have ordered things that took longer than mine so mine was sitting there not under any sort of heat. I can only presume this was the case. The mini shrimp commonly used for flavoring (we call it xia mi in Mandarin - but they do look a little freaky and could scare people unfamiliar with it away) was a different type so it just lacked a little bit of additional oomph. I do have to say, both noodle dishes (Mee Siam & Char Koay Teow) tasted extremely healthy and used fresh ingredients - but that could have been the part that was lacking. I think the really oily and flavorful street food feel was what was missing. But don't get me wrong, both noodle dishes were yum! At first glance seems like a very formal place but it's more so the clientele. Food here ain't cheap but they make up for it by having set menus (go with that and you're sorted for the evening) done up with starters, a main course and tea or coffee. Even though its quite an expensive place to come regularly, i suppose you do get what you pay for with the huge variety, authentic taste and customer service. Decor of the restaurant is very humble and does what most Chinese restaurants do without going over the top. Definite must try but taking everything into consideration there's no authentic reason to come back in a major hurry.
