Started getting a feeling we were not very important to Hungerford when I made my first call to them for an urgent question and was told, "is this really important right now?" Then, I de idea to have a different firm look over my taxes. I was surprised to find Hungerford had me paying taxes on my state pension! I had to have my taxes redone. When I contacted Hungerford about it, they admitted they screwed up, but insisted they should only have to pay a portion of the costs I paid to have the matter fixed. I have been dealing with them for months now. They say they tried to reach me, but had the wrong number. Hmm, why not email me then? Looks like we are heading into a legal battle with them.now if they dont decide to pay the rest of what they owe me. Beware. Run the other way. Very disappointed with this company. read more

I have used the Conn Geneva Robinson firm for years and never had any issues and questions I had were always answered. It WAS a great place. They switched to Hungerford owning the business which led to me losing both of the tax guys that I used. This year someone else did my same taxes and they increased my bill by $100 without any explanation. I called to understand why and emailed and no one ever explained why. Switched to this firm this year, and they did not disappoint. Prepared my taxes ahead of the due date, prepared complicated schedules, reviewed past returns, and communicated very well. Their portal needs an upgrade so it's more self-initiated, but they do work around that effectively. Very reasonable fees, too. Recommend. read more

Hungerford Nichols acquired Conn, Geneva, Robinson. Prior to this, we had been with Conn, Geneva for over 15 years without issue and a seamless experience. Our longtime accountant left in the fall and Hungerford Nichols did not notify us. Once we became aware, it took many phone calls to determine our new accountant assignment. Because we had no introduction we wanted to touch base with our new accountant which was another hurdle. After expending much time and effort, I was able to have a short conversation with our accountant, Melissa. We had several outstanding items to address and she was to follow-up with us and our attorney regarding the formation of a new business. After several emails and phone messages, with no response over the course of three weeks, I requested a new accountant. The managing partners, Rick and Tom, have refused my request. Rick stated that the accountant was very busy and every accountant would be busy from now until the May 17, 2021 filing deadline, implying no one had time for a short follow-up conversation. I would not recommend this firm to anyone regardless of the complexity of your tax matters. Hungerford Nichols has lack of communication, rude and unhelpful staff (the woman who answers the phone in Grand Rapids is condescending and terse), and unprofessional managing partners. read more
