The quirky decor, though faux, is appealing if you like chandeliers, Victoriana (likely from China), and stuffed stag heads. Music is a quite loud speakeasy playlist. Lots of menu options, from tapas to burgers with a gastro pub range of mains. Nice cocktail list too, and they have a gluten free menu - though sadly, as everywhere else, the only gf pudding is sorbet. Service seems fine, and they serve meals all day from 9am to 10pm, and breakfast is served til 6pm! There are a lot of stairs, though there's a lift to the first floor to get you started. The main restaurant is only open Fri, Sat, Sun in winter, but you can eat in the first floor cafe/bar the rest of the time. There is a third floor dining area with terrace for summer, which we did not explore in January! The food is very serviceable if not exactly a gastronomic experience. We had excellent game stew, with lots of chunky pheasant, venison and rabbit. The promised root vegetables in the stew were a bit few and far between, but it came with champ (mash and spring onion), and was gluten free. Dessert was chocolate croissant bread and butter pud, with fine vanilla custard (for me) and (good quality) mango and blackcurrant sorbets for my GF partner. A rum based espresso martini to finish. So dinner with two courses, and drinks was fifty quid for two, which is pretty reasonable. So, definitely will be back, and we recommend it.

OH and I chanced upon this gem halfway through our holiday, while visiting Christchurch. It was a…read morewindy grey day and the haberdashery I'd gone to visit had shut up shop, the museums we wanted to visit were closed. We turned a corner and found the Inside Out Coffee Co. OH ordered a double espresso and I had a black Americano on our first visit. The drinks cost £3 together. You pay at the counter indoors and the staff bring your order to you. There are tables and chairs out the front of the shop. They were clean. We were served by a man who appeared to enjoy his job, possibly in his early 40's, skinhead and tattoos, which made him an alternative breath of fresh air. Very polite and helpful man. Our second visit of the day involved going back for a 'Proper chip buttie'. Thick cut bread, white or brown, buttered with chips. All condiments are freely available on the side of each table. There is a toilet cubicle up a flight of stairs which was kept very clean and with a supply of toilet roll. I enjoyed the coat hook on the back of the door. We enjoyed it so much, we drove all the way from the place near Mudeford that we were staying to sample the cooked breakfast the following morning. I ordered the 'Bumper' (£6) cooked breakfast, OH ordered the 'Bumper Bumper' (£7) breakfast. Mine consisted of two double sausages, two bacon, fried mushrooms, beans, potato discs and two slices of buttered toast. I also ordered a pot of mint tea and he bought it out with extra hot water. The 'Bumper Bumper' breakfast consisted of three double sausage, 5 bacon and everything I had in my breakfast in the same quantities. The decor is of 60's origin, with posters of the Beatles, The Who, etc on the walls, and the Mamas and The Papas, Beach Boys and Kinks playing through the speakers as back ground music. There were 5 or 6 tables inside the cafe, seating from 2 to 4 people. The counter display looked really appetising with sausage rolls, teacakes, other cakes to be purchased by the slice. Everything was clean. The prices are reasonable, the coffee is good. We enjoyed our visit and will certainly pop in again in the future if we happen to be passing through.
