This cute diner spot was a quick and easy choice while we were in the bishop arts district. It's nice that they have a more casual and quick option down there. The cheeseburger was loaded up with veggies, which was appreciated. The burger was like any other fast food burger in my opinion, except that I did think that it had fresher veggies on it. The service was great and he brought out some ranch upon request.

Monday afternoon stop, here is what we liked. * Immediate seating, order at the counter than your choice table or booth. * lots of burger options and then some other sandwiches, salads and sides available. * Fries were hot. * Burgers were a good size, the double was a good amount of meat. Was a good burger, wouldn't say great. What could of been better: * I get it, stuff happens. The AC was out so it was a bit humid and warm in there. Not holding that against them. * While the fries were hot, they needed salt. Adding it at the table isn't the same. * The corn elote bites were weird. Love some corn elote, this wasn't it. * The bottle Coke was just warm- needed to be cold. Overall a good visit and a solid burger joint , would do again.

Delicious quick burger stop. The employees were all very friendly and inviting as soon as we walked in. I got the Double double and it was huge and so perfectly cooked. They also have the tempura onion rings, which are my favorite, and the fried pickles were the perfect ratio of pickle to batter. My husband had the patty melt and said it was a pleasant surprise that it came on rye bread, which looked fantastic. Thanks for a great lunch!

This was a very tasty old fashioned hamburger. It kinda reminded me of a Sonic burger, but this one had GRASS-FED BEEF. Any burger using grass-fed, hand shaped patties are A+ with me. The restaurant was a cute diner design. The girl taking my order was nice and she answered all my questions due to it being my first time there. Oh don't let me forget to mention the Margarita. It was so good. I got a small, should have gotten the large!

It's a nice concept of a diner and I like how you order up front and then bring your number to the table. For my taste, the hamburger could have used a bit of extra seasoning or grease to give it a depth of flavor. It didn't quite taste like it was cooked on that well seasoned griddle like at other burger joints. A cute little little spot in a cute part of town but might try something new next time I'm in that hood.

Traditional burger joint, but what I really enjoyed was that they have a lovely kids menu for children under six. The cheeseburger was your traditional burger nothing too fancy. customer service was pleasant, professional, and timely.. The facility was clean but crowded.

love this place !!! a dallas classic for a reason. food comes out quick, cashiers are friendly, and our burger cost around $8 and was delicioussss!!! it even outprices some chain fast food restaurants, for exponentially better quality. their milkshakes and fries are amazing too. 10/10 spot for a casual late night bite with retro charm or to fuel up before a night of dancing. :)

I visited Hunky's earlier this month. I ordered a mushroom swiss burger with a turkey patty and jalapeños, tots on the side with a beer. They brought me ranch dressing for my tater tots. I don't like ranch dressing so I asked for an alternative. They offered blue cheese. I agreed. They brought everything to the table. . When they brought blue cheese crumbles I was shocked that it wasn't blue cheese dressing. I like blue cheese so I didn't question it. I chatted with my friend and we left shortly after. I went home. About 45 min later, I got sick. I called the restaurant the next day to tell them what happened. I left a message. No one returned my called. I called again a week later to speak to a manager only to be put on hold and no one ever returned to the phone. Week 3, callagain. No one returned my call. I retuned to the store today and asked for a manager. David comes from the back. He doesn't introduce himself by his name or title. I asked his name. I told him mine, I explained the situation. He asked me when it happened, did anyone else get sick and then started to tell me how tricky blue cheese dressing is which is why he doesn't order it. He tells me there's nothing else he can do because no one else has gotten sick. He hadn't heard of anyone else getting sick. I told him that wasn't my concern if someone else got sick or not, I did. He asked for my receipt. I showed him the charge from that day. He said, well what do you want me to do? Uhm, you're the manager, you tell me how you can rectify the situation. He said, I can't refund you because you don't have your receipt. I can make you another burger. I agreed. I told him my order, same as before. When the order was completed the server was calling out the order but I didn't think it was mine. He kept saying double mushroom swisss to other customers. He finally got to me and I told him that's not what I ordered. I repeated what I ordered he said it was a double. I said I didn't ask for that but ok. Thanks and left. Considering I got sick and this was a "makeup burger", I'd expect that the order would be correct. I've been coming here for years but starting to rethink.... Poor service and the burgers aren't as good as they used to be.

We came here after bishop bazaar because we were craving burgers. cute old school diner vibe. The staff is friendly and tried to get through the line quickly. They validate parking for 2 hour timeframe - you can do so by the register. They have their standard menu and have a whiteboard with other options. We got the Hunky's Texas burger with sweet potato fries and jalapeno poppers. One of our poppers was very cold but the others were good. My parents got the hotdog and fried mushrooms. They also serve beer, wine and premade cocktails which is nice.

Burger was good. We had a cheeseburger and a mushroom Swiss burger. It was very filling. The patties are well done and do taste under seasoned. I'd say the star of our meal were the hand-dipped onion rings. I did not try any desserts since we were so full but perhaps next time! We parked along the street of bishop arts without realizing that they had parking instructions. We had to wait in line quite a bit as there was only one cashier, but service is friendly. Food came out without too long of a wait.

They serve tasty old-fashioned hamburgers and shakes. I love the old-school diner vibes and the quick service. The Texas toast was toasted just right, and although the patty melt was messy, it was very delicious!

This unassuming restaurant tucked in a corner of nondescript row of stores has stood the test of time. My first review of the place was in 2013. Here it is 13 years later then it is still going strong. I went for lunch with the family on a snow day. You order at the counter and they bring it to your table. No numbers, they just remember who you are. I always get combo number 1 and add sweet potato fries. The prices are great and not much more than McDonalds but the difference in value is significant. The burgers are not thick but this time I noticed the double burger (#2) is just a couple of bucks more than the the single patty in #1. Note to self for next time. Although the patty is thin, the flavors work. The burger comes with lettuce, tomato, onion, and mustard. No ketchup, you add that yourself. The bun with sesame seeds always comes out piping hot. Sweet potato fries are crispy and not greasy. The combo comes with a drink for $10.99. That's a deal. I hope they stay in business another 13 years!

The neighborhood may continue to change around it, but Chip's remains the same. My Overall Rating - 4 Stars (Atmosphere, Service, Food, Return) Atmosphere - Chip's has an old school, nostalgic feel. The restaurant has an iconic sloping roof with a yellow outdoor exterior and a big green sign with its logo. Inside, there are plenty of booths, a bar, and even outdoor seating. Chip's has grown and expanded over the years but to me that adds to the nostalgic charm. 1 Star. Service - Chip's may have invented counter service. Upon entering, you look at the menu posted on the wall and place your order. You'll get a number (or they'll ask for your name), and you grab a table, and when your food is ready it comes out. Fast, efficient, and the staff was super friendly. 1 Star. Food - Chip's is known for its poppy seed hamburger buns. While it's pretty and tasty, the most important part, the patty, is pretty average. Honestly, there are many other great burger joints in Dallas. On the other hand, the fried onion strings are a must order for your side. While I wasn't a fan of the burger, the fried onion strings saved my meal. The Oreo and Fresh Banana shakes were also a nice cold, creamy, sweet ending to my meal. 1 Star. Will I Return? - Yes. I hope Chip's never changes. The restaurant has an iconic look, it's part of Dallas history, and the staff is great. 1 Star.

We ordered the fried mushrooms to start, and they were so hot that one of us severely burned her lower gums on them. Seriously! A prescription from the dentist was sought; mea culpa but damn. Once they were less volcanic, they were good. We split a burger with fried onions, and it was dry. The meat was overbooked, the bun was over toasted, and the whole thing needed plenty of beer to go down smoothly. The fries are fine, and we did appreciate that they had some steamed broccoli on the menu. Our daughter was happy with her kids cheeseburger meal, and she did like the chocolate-caramel malt shake she scored at the end. A main reason that we're landing on three stars is the ice cream situation. One of us ordered a soft serve vanilla, and nobody told her that the machine was down, so what she got instead was a cup of half melted Blue Bell soup...are you kidding! Thanks for the prompt refund, but letting your customer know what the situation is in advance goes a long way. So, we tried it. Add a notch to the Dallas belt. We wish them well, but we won't be returning. There are better burgers in DFW.
