We still love Hunsader Farms especially their Pumpkin Fest. It really is the biggest. Now it's $15 for adults and 5 to park. They have many shows similar to a state fair. They have animals. They have pumpkins pumpkin opps, crafts and food. So there's a lot for everyone. It's also very dog friendly. Our dog is small but they also have bigger dogs too which are welcome. It's nice to have this option. We have also been for sunflowers and have also been for a Xmas fest. It's in btw Bradenton Lakewood ranch and Sarasota, and they have lots of space. read more

I saw an ad for a pick your own farm not too far away so thought I'd go check it out. Wow - this place is way more than I expected. A campground, General store, KOA campground, produce and other food displayed ready to buy... neat place! Was after tomatoes and bought a box from the store as well as some strawberries that are just starting to come into season. I'll be back to explore more - it looks like you could spend hours here seeing everything they have to see. read more

So we took our daughter and grandson with us to Hunsader's petting farm. I was a little surprised that they charged a 2 yr old the full price. There are a lot of nice options and different things to enjoy and see but the place needs some upkeep and cleaning and maintenance done. Some of the toys in the sand area are broken, there are a lot areas that need mowed and branches picked up. There are rides in tiny town that are fun but the one didn't work when it took our money. They aren't marked as to how much they cost to ride. We enjoyed the playground areas but one of the slides is blocked off. There are a lot of animals to enjoy! Not too far east from LWR proper is this busy local farm offering fresh produce, a petting zoo, market, and playground. Head out early or during the week to miss any traffic and berry picker competition, lol! Since it is u pick season, I was happy to find this local low key gem. Plenty of berries to pick without the hassle of some Plant City locations. Four pounds of berries later back at home, I was making roasted strawberry compote and jam which are both delicious with the farm to table flavors. So where do I begin? Well I should have began back in Tampa before I got in the truck and drove down here. Waste of my time, first off it cost me $100 to bring my family inside, but once you're in they nickel and dime you until you're on the brink of standing outside with a cardboard sign saying "anything helps". $15 to sit on a camel and go round and round for 2 minutes. Additional $15 for a lopsided pumpkin, another $10 for a bouncy house. But don't worry folks there is a tiny town! It has buildings as small as my expectations for next year. And the circus...don't even get me started. I'm starting to think they removed elephants from the circus to save them from this very event. It was horrific. Then the fair food was a pleasant surprise, because if you come to a fall festival expecting anything pumpkin or fall related, good luck pal because the closest thing you're getting to that is the 12 inch tall hay stacks that are the apparent corn maze. Then to top it all off after spending my 5 year old daughter's college savings at this place, $5 to Park too? How else was I supposed to get there? By horse? Do not recommended. Run far away. I took my family of six to Hunsader's Farm, and it was hands-down one of the most disappointing and unsafe experiences we've ever had. I had been to Hunsader's twice before this experience and although I wasn't expecting a 5 star experience on a farm, I wasn't prepared to be completely embarrassed when I brought my out-of-town guests. I paid for their vegetables, ice cream, and donuts without issue because you can't say no to a 2- and 3-year-old--but spending $100 on the "petting zoo" was a complete waste and honestly felt like a scam once we saw the condition of the place. The animal areas were either completely overgrown or nothing but sand pits. Fences had nails sticking out, holes, and rotted boards. Ant piles were everywhere and clearly ignored. The playground was mostly taped off like a crime scene, and even the remaining benches were splintered or had exposed nails. Every single toy in the sandbox was broken. The tiny town was straight-up unsafe: rotten floors, holes, warped doors, bee nests, AC units that weren't in working order anyway, and buildings in such bad shape they were locked. I would not let a child near any of it. To add to it, the bathrooms were flooded and unkept with water on the floor, and my sister-in-law slipped so badly she could hardly stand. We didn't even complain at that point, but we probably should have. But the worst part was trying to talk to the owner afterward. Before writing this review, I tried to speak directly with the owner about everything we experienced. Instead of even a shred of concern, I was completely dismissed and treated with zero respect. The condition of the petting zoo and tiny town isn't "a few things needing maintenance"--it's a total breakdown of care, responsibility and a call waiting for the Better Business Bureau. It seems that after their "big pumpkin event" they just let the place completely go for the rest of the season. This place is rundown, unsafe, and absolutely not worth the money or the risk. Very cool camp spot. We have our own RV. An Airstream called "Traveler" so we enjoyed the hookups but they have so many good choices from Cabins to Conestoga wagons, and tent camping to chose. Nice clean facilities, green grocer and other shops on site. Enjoy all the cool animals. read more

What a treasure. This is so much more than a typical fall festival. It's a combination of a fall festival and state fair. It is pricey. Expect to spend a couple hundred dollars within 3-4 hours with a family of four. Entrance fees, kids pony rides or camels, food, drinks, and other activities. It is worth it as there is so much to do and to see. read more

I felt really bad for some of the animals there. The farm animals are a bit more accustomed to the setting but the lemurs and exotic birds were just so sad. They should be in a rehab or wildlife center somewhere with better conditions for them. We did the Upick strawberry fields and it was pretty dismal as they were picked over, the plants were weedy and lots of rotten berries...BUT I think we're approaching the end of strawberry season in Florida so it's probably to be expected. We also picked some wildflowers. It's still pretty early in their growing season so it was easy to find plenty of flowers to take home. read more

If you're looking to explore Hunsader Farms for the petting zoo or "tiny town" I'd look elsewhere. For $12 per person (everyone over 12 mos old), it's EXTREMELY run down. Picnic tables under water and broken, walking paths completely muddy, tiny houses with swarming wasps, broken air conditioners inside the tiny houses (unsafe for children), electric cords across tiny house floors, uneven flooring- all very unfit for small children. Not to mention, absolutely filthy. Honestly, even if it was free, I wouldn't be returning. The concept could be so cute, but sadly it seems completely neglected. If you do go, bring bug spray. I've been here before just to pick strawberries and it was a fine experience. (Strawberry fields are located quite a ways from the petting zoo + children's activities.) Just extremely disappointed by the cost/experience combo of the petting zoo and tiny town. read more

When entering from the road, this place looks so inviting. It's a combination farm and campground, although we didn't check out the campground, KOA's are usually nice. There was a small eating place, and a large produce selection, as well as lots of building fronts which looked like fun for kids. We were there to pick sunflowers so we stopped at the market to pay our $2 per person fee. They asked how many sunflowers we wanted and said we could pay up front. Big mistake on my part. I had expected beautiful fields of sunflowers, but instead, I guess it's the end of the season and everything looked wilted and they were scant. I had paid for 20 flowers, so we really struggled to find 20 that were acceptable. I was really disappointed. Maybe the key is to come back earlier in the season. read more

This farm has put in a lot of work and thought into its public activities. It seems like they've tried everything! It has a KOA campground (separate Yelp listing), an obstacle course path, a petting zoo, a playground, zoo animals on display, general store/farmer's market type stands, u-pick fruit, buggy rentals, and more. My kids and I had a blast at the petting zoo, where the animals were really friendly. However, there was zero supervision and this concerns me, for the welfare of the animals. The petting zoo is only accessible by going through the playground, which is only accessible after purchasing a ticket from the general store. This means that we could only afford to go to the playground once during our trip, for better or worse. Walking from the campground to the front of the farm was great, with stops to pet a cow and also cats. We were unable to find any water fountains, so bring a water bottle with you. read more

After flower picking (which was really nice, actually) My friends and I decided to visit the animals. Their petting zoo tickets are only five dollars... but It was disgusting seeing their animals covered in their own feces and urine, seeing tumors on the deer, seeing their goats and goose shaking (which I assume is due to malnourishment or neglect) and 3 peacocks in a tiny cage. There were bunnies with newborns in a wire-bottom cage covered in their own urine, and cramped. Have you ever seen 2 kangaroos in a tiny unkempt enclosure? Heartbreaking. I wish I had documented everything I saw, but sadly, I just wanted to get out of there ASAP. I will not be supporting this business again. read more

It never ceases to amaze me how much fun there is to be had here in our town of Tampa Bay! Even when shopping is restricted, attractions are closed, and beaches are overwhelmed, there are millions of other activities that await us. For example this delightful little gem: Hunsader Farms! A local farmers market that is known for pumpkins in the "fall." Recently I discovered they are open now for sunflower picking! Picking sunflowers at Hunsader Farm was as sunny and cheerful as it sounds. There is plenty of parking, it's easy to find and there's also food, drink, restrooms on site. To get in to pick your flowers you pay $2 per person. Upon leaving you pay for your bouquet at just $1 a flower! Did you know that ordering a dozen sunflowers can cost up to $100? Yes, that's real. And so this is one heck of a deal! You will need to bring something to cut the flowers with and a vase of sort to bring them home in. As well as water, for you and the flowers! Seriously, bring water it's Florida, it's hot and yes flower picking is fun but it's also work. I'm typing up this review while admiring the happy flowers sitting at my table. They went above & beyond call of duty, warrants 5 stars from me! Here's the breakdown, wanted to come here for my Bday even if it was a long trek from Tampa. I wanted to also get some sunshine, maybe more than I bargained - it was a very hot afternoon! I ended driving up as they were closing @3:30pm. The other parts of the farm closes at 4pm, so I mixed up my time. Susan kindly let me hop inside to collect 5 sunflowers, which took me 10 minutes. I zoomed around collecting my flowers, got a workout & left flushed faced. PRO TIP: Bring your own vase & scissors because they don't provide it. The variety of sunflower they have is smaller compared to the beefed up ones at the other farms/store. I would come early in the morning because almost all of my sunflowers wilted & died due to the hot stroke while transporting them home and stopping for quick errands. For $2/entrance fee & $1/sunflower, this is one of the best deals. I would return if nearby & best of all - no RSVP or minimum purchase! There's other stuff to do including food made that's being sold. I did purchase sweet potatoes & a Golden Delish apple with a wide varieties of fruit & veggies available as well as refreshing, cold drinks. They have a couple goats contently laying in the shade in a fenced area. In the Fall, they even have pumpkin festivals & hay rides! read more

So very disappointed. This is our 3rd year here. Was one of our favorite destinations but how it's went downhill FAST! Stayed in the small silo, first time in the silo. The description on the website wasn't close to accurate. We brought way to much stuff. Said no linens, linens was provided. No microwave, was a microwave. No air, air conditioning. We brought all this stuff. This wasn't a big deal so we moved on. Bathhouse use to be so nice and clean. Smells like sewer. When you run water you can hear/smell sewer bubbling up through the floor drain. Obviously people is now smoking in it I mentioned it to a employee they said "ok". Didn't seem to care at all. Not near enough bathrooms for as many campers that are present. We even ignored the bathroom situation but then something happened that will have us NEVER RETURNING! We walked down the long path to the produce stand mind you this path had huge campers and trucks coming and going plus the pepper field with trucks, we walked in the grass and was fine. We saw that we needed a pass to flower field so we walked to produce stand. We explained to the young lady that we was going to walk due to us driving a lowered car that's parked in camp ground. She said that wasn't a issue just stay in grass for our safety. We went to walk away and started to talk to a couple that is also staying at the koa to go to the freedom 500 at the Bradenton motor park. This older lady interrupted us by SCREAMING at us. We were so confused and shocked all we could do was stand there. She stated there was no way we was to walk anywhere this was a working farm and she didn't care what we drove that was our only way to move around the farm. Mind you the road the flower field was no trucks or tractors seen on during our visit but the road we was allowed to walk in was extremely busy. Targeted? Absolutely! There wasn't a problem until we started talking about the race. We know there has been a lot of locals not like the race park and it was very obvious this is why we was being screamed at. If you attend the race I highly suggest to stay somewhere else unless you want to be treated differently then others. EDITED TO ADD: In the store this morning heard a women talk very poorly to not one but two people checking in. Went to leave the camp ground my husband pulled up to the bath house so I could run in to potty real fast a employee started yelling at him that he couldn't park there. There isn't a no parking sign and we have seen people park in that same spot for years. These people are so extremely rude for no reason. I've never ever been talked to so poorly in my life! Called and talked to the owner. She could care less. Pretty much said I'm sorry it's one situation one time. You can't let one time bother you. These people are just there to make money off of you that's it. read more

This was not what we expected. We thought it was gonna be much smaller, and that is probably our mistake! It was a huge fair, and of course all the food is way overpriced, and it was muddy & very crowded. The highlight for us was the animals and the beautiful birds! It just isn't our favourite thing to wait in line for 45 minutes to get a parking place when there was plenty of parking, they could've had three or four entrances. Anyway, we won't be back, but if you like that kind of crowded carnival, overpriced food, noise, and dirt, have a good time. read more

Never have I ever seen so many different peppers at one farm stand. This place is AHMAZING!!! Just discovered this family-run farm just outside of Lakewood Ranch. We came for the pumpkins and left with 3 bags of produce. This will now be one of our weekly shopping spots. The property is also home to a U-Pick-it farm, a KOA camp/RV grounds and has the cutest little antique store and western town. There's something for everyone. They also hold two big holiday festivals - Fall Pumpkin Festival and Christmas Festival. You'll drop a small fortune at each between parking, entrance and food, but hey, the kids are only kids for so long, right? Each festival hosts several local craft and food booths and have all your favorite carnival/fair foods. read more

10/10 best farm experience ever. My daughter tricked me. "We're just going to pick a "few" flowers. $27 in cups later, my hands are full. I liked going out to the sections least travelled and pick. The fields were magical. Then she wanted to do the petting zoo. So PRO TIP do not leave the $27 in flowers in the car, they will die. So plan accordingly. But this petting zoo was dope. You buy some food, you get to see a freaking KANGAROO!! And LLAMAS AND ALPACAS. We met a small kid that kept calling the toucan Tupac when telling the other kids so I decided to throw some PAC on circa 1995. It was so funny! Anyways, I was getting some food from the cup for the goats, a Billy goat bit 3 of my fingers! I think he didn't like the Tupac. He and I are cool. He's my homie! Anyways, 10/10 awesome spot! What a gem! Will definitely be returning! We came for the U-Pick strawberries which was great, but our experience was unforgettable thanks to the animals! We got here shortly after they opened and highly recommend doing this for the best experience! We were the only ones there for awhile. It costs $5 per person to get up close to the animals and access the playground. Totally worth it considering the experience and the fact the money goes towards the care of the animals. We also bought a cup of food to feed the animals. It was amazing seeing all the animals (I'm a city girl!). And quite the experience for my 2 year old! We mostly observed (but it is called a petting zoo and lots of kids were petting and feeding the animals!). We got there right when they opened so got to witness the morning feed (by a female farmer, nonetheless, super cool!). Lots of sights and sounds we are not used to hearing! The rooster and the donkeys were very vocal! I did feel comfortable letting my 2 year old touch and feed the baby goats (which were super cute!). There's also hand sanitizer readily available. The playground and the giant sandbox were also a hit with our 2 year old! She didn't want to leave! After washing our hands in the bathroom, we picked strawberries! It was definitely getting much more crowded at this point (a couple hours after opening on a Sat). You have to "sign in" and pick up your bag or box in the big barn where they sell the produce. Then you drive to the strawberry fields which is on the same property. Lots of space to spread out and we found tons of great strawberries! You then drive back to the barn where they weigh it and you pay. 10/10 would recommend! read more

We recently visited Hunsader Farms for the first time. We were very surprised to learn that the entry fee was $12 per person including adults. That came to $48. that provided access to the petting zoo, but not food for the animals. It also included access to the tiny town. The tiny town was impressive and very cool, but there were big teenagers, running all around, playing a game of tag, which made it hard for a little children to enjoy the tiny town. That was pretty annoying given that we paid about $50 for our family to check it out. There was no staff to be found. Just a few teenagers running the cash registers. there probably should've been some staff meandering the premises. Maybe they would have seen the teenagers running around and making it impossible for anyone else to enjoy the space. some of the games were missing balls, and pieces, and the pedal carts did not go anywhere, even when a child was peddling. I would say for $12 per person, the attractions should be tended to and functioning. The animals were cute, but there was too much broken on the premises and too many areas that needed attention. There was also a pretty foul smell on much of the premises. I know that is to be expected with a petting zoo, but it seemed to be extra pungent. To me, it seemed like the whole premises needed to be mulched. Lots of areas with muddy sections. We were generally unimpressed. read more

Stayed at their KOA campground. Gotta tell y'a, this place is 1st class. Extremely friendly staff, great produce, pretty well stocked store. The wildlife on site is something not too miss. It appears the weekend is better to go than mid week. And the sept. Oct. time for outdoor festivities. Two issues: there was no water available to clean sewer line at dump station, and we had to pick up wood at store. Would be nice to have delivered. Can't wait to get back! Hmmmph. I really wanted to love this place after hearing about the Pumpkin Festival for so many years. Unfortunately, it didn't live up to the hype - for me anyways. Here's why: Fees, fees, fees. Yes, I understand that everything costs money and I am so grateful that this wonderful family puts on a huge event for so many people to enjoy every year however they REALLY nickel & dime their guests. $5 parking, $10 admission per person, $2 for the corn maze, $2 to shoot 5 ears of corn from the corn cannon, $2 to enter the butterfly tent, $5 for hayrides, etc. Add on top of that, that everything is CASH ONLY and watch your money quickly fly away. Oh - I did watch a frog jumping contest and a bear show for free. Both shows were about 15 minutes or so and definitely nothing impressive but the kids in the crowd seemed to enjoy it. The event is dog friendly, so bring your fur kid if the weather permits. I noticed a couple food vendors had little cooking tins on the ground labeled "dog water" which was very thoughtful. Speaking of food vendors, all the "good" booths have EXTREMELY long lines (kinda how you know they're good I suppose) that make it tough to decide whether it's worth waiting for....20 minutes in line for some BBQ ribs & 15 minutes in line for kettle corn exceeded my limit of patience. Also, the corn maze was kinda lame. The corn wasn't super tall so it was easily navigable and there was no "fun" put in to it. Glad I went but now that I'm no longer curious, I doubt I'd return in the future. read more
