Huntel is now American Broadband. I recently moved to Blair, so they are it when it comes to phone, cable, and internet. They set me up with local and long distance phone service this week. Local came on in the 48 hour period they said it might take, but I had to call them to troubleshoot the long distance. Apparently they forgot to name a carrier, which is wierd because there was only one choice, themselves. Anyway, that was cleared up in less than two hours I was able to call my family on the east coast. If you need to set up an account with them, I recommend going in to the office and doing it in person. There is no way to get an account on line and they will only mail you an application that you can mail or bring in if you try to set up service by phone. In person, they are very helpful and friendly. I picked up my modem and a phone (only God knows where my phones are packed, it's been over two months since they went into deep storage) and had nice chats with the women who work there. Price gouging at its best, paying double what people pay for internet service than people in Omaha. Just prove you can still have a monopoly in the US. read more

No service. Have a problem with our security system that Huntel installed. Called for us. Called 4 times and James hung up on my husband. Kurt has yelled at me on the phone when I asked what set the front door alarm off. Very unprofessional. Dont do business here! read more

This small-town DSL Internet service provider is exceptionally bad and pricey to boot. I came from a different state that had invested in its high speed internet network, and clearly no such investment has been made here. I went from paying less than $50 a month for 50mbps Internet to $80 a month for advertised 10 mbps that never cracks double digits in actual download speed. It's too slow to effectively stream movies or play games online. To add insult to injury, the staff is extremely rude. First call the person didn't seem interested in helping me set up service at all. When I went in person to the office, they tried to pressure me to buy their outdated and overpriced modem and router, and when the tech came to "set up" my equipment (which I could have done myself for free) he didn't know how to do it and had to call his dad on his phone. You can't even call your local office - all calls are routed to one center, which is silly for such a small company. If it wasn't the only Internet provider in town, I'd never buy it. I'm strongly considering getting rid of it and just doing without Internet service. The company even runs scare-tactic ads to get people to buy landlines (if we bought one our Internet cost would go down $30, but overall the bill would be higher). Trying to convince my fiance to move us further away from the town she works in so we can have a provider who actually provides decent service. read more
