I live in a Hunter Property and the one I live in is nice. Our manager is on site and great. Trying to get the people to call you back at the office at Hunter Properties can be difficult, I suggest keep calling. Other then that I can't complain. If I have a problem with my apartment I go to the building manager. They get the problem fixed right away. Plus I can't beat the price I pay for the amount of space I have. read more

I signed up just to give this review and maybe save someone else the trouble I went through. I had a horrible year with Hunter Properties. Two words, BED BUGS! The building also dealt with roaches and mice, both of which I had at some point in my unit. I got reassurances from the building owner and manager that they were doing all they could to eradicate the bed bug problem, but I didn't see that being done. The exterminators came when I requested, but though they said they were inspecting and treating adjacent units I don't believe that was happening. The neighbors I spoke to weren't even informed about the problem (except the other who was dealing with it). Then, the manager tries to tell me the right thing to do is to keep all my furniture when I move out. Seriously? I got rid of my bed, couch, footstools, etc. I just feel really bad for the next tenant. I dealt with insomnia and anxiety on top of the financial loss. I lived out of bags for over 6 months. It was a bad year! The only thing positive I can say is that everyone I spoke to (building owner, manager, building maintenance, and folks from Hunter Properties main office) was very polite. I always had civil conversations and everyone acted professionally. It didn't help much though when I couldn't stand to sleep at my own home. read more

There have been cockroaches in our apartment building for over two years. They don't do anything about it. They also tried to illegally raise our rent this year when we renewed our lease (insufficient advance notice for raising rent), and we had to email them repeatedly to get them to correct the issue. The superintendent is not easy to reach - no email or texting, only phone calls. The elevator doesn't work half the time, and has had a "conditional pass" on its inspection certificate for over two years, never an actual passing certificate. read more

Seems like it definitely depends on who your property manager is. I live in one of the Artist In Residence buildings on Winthrop. Anytime I call Edwin about something that needs to be fixed, he's always there the same day (like within 2 hours) and it gets fixed. Guy is a fix-it genius. The whole building gets sprayed a few times a year for bugs, which is nice. I've only ever seen a house centipede in my unit once, which is a whole lot less than any other apartment I've lived in. One star off because I live below 2 stomping children, but that's just the luck of the draw. read more

7455 N Greenview. The Highland apartments is a terrible building. Roach infested, laundry room always has machines down, elevator has been out of order for 3 months and the bike room that is advertised is nowhere to be found. Can't wait till my lease is up in February. Don't rent here. read more

1- hires dummies to show the apartments: this guy didn't have keys for any of the units he showed us (or tried to show us) so just jiggled all the handles until he found one unlocked. the units we did get to see turned out to be unavailable before he even let us into them. waste time. 2- good luck calling them every time I called I got dropped because they didn't transfer the call right and transferred to someone new every time I asked a question. they gave vauge responses to get me to just apply only. they just want your application fees to pay for the morons they have show the apartments. I like the managing company. I live in their building in Albany Park. The building is old and vintage. But, whenever there is an issue I have in the apartment, I am emailing the request to the managing company ( politely, without freaking out) and they get back to me within couple of hours. And the issue would be fixed within the next couple of days. You have to understand that living in old vintage apartments will result in several issues. If you want to have a place without any issues than you should budget up. Also, regarding the reviews, I think that many renters have too high expectations set up for the budget friendly apartments. They told me if I came in and signed the application I'd most likely get the place. I took off work to come in and sign the application-they only take cash for the application. So I then went online and had to pay an addition $30 something dollars, on top of the $50 application fee, for paying online and getting the application processed the next business day. They did not get back to me about the application when they said they would. I called and asked for the status of my application and they said the apartment went to someone else. They took my $80 something dollars and I'll never do business with them again. read more

I wanted to write this review because I am so happy I moved into the Addison area apartments. Saida and her husband are very competent tenants. They have taken care of all the things that needed to be fixed, small repairs and they have been nothing but responsive to help me. I am so happy at this new apartment. I really think it's who your property manager is when it comes down to satisfaction and customer service. I really like Saida's willingness to help by being very prompt. They don't even deserve the one star. They screwed my boyfriend and I over and basically stole the $50 application fee from us. We were given false information on multiple accounts, and then they refused to give us our money back when we confronted them about it. I spoke with Myra the leasing agent on the phone and she was especially rude and condescending to me. I will not be renting from them, and I highly advise that no one else does as well. Hunter Properties is a wonderful group to rent from if you have a criminal history, don't care much for cleanliness, and no other landlord in the city of Chicago will rent to--wait, I mean no other landlord deserves someone as awesome as you. I lived in one of their buildings in Old Irving Park (N. Keystone) for just over a year. (At the time, I was desperate to move ASAP, and needed a place that didn't mind my cat). As much as I miss the gang signs scrawled in the elevator, the smell of mildew and ground beef in the hallways, the resident perv flirting with me as I tried to leave the building without being noticed (though he prefers to be called a "ladies man"), and finding half-empty bottles of Olde English in the entryway, I can't say I'd ever live in a Hunter building again. Here's a short summary of what else you can expect if you decide to call this building home: - Bedbugs reside in at least one unit. I only know this because the exterminator happened to mention it when coming to bait my apartment for a roach problem. - I saw plump, gray rats scurry across the front walkway at least twice. - Tenants didn't like to walk to the dumpster, so seeing garbage thrown from the fourth floor windows, or finding broken bags atop the dumpster was a common occurrence. Maybe they were just trying to feed the neighborhood rats. *Shrug* - Despite requiring a credit and background check (or maybe this was just for me), some of the tenants were not people you'd want your family to come over and see hanging out near your door. It wasn't uncommon for a few gentlemen to openly use "adult substances" in the back stairway. The skanky-looking chick that called me a b&*^% after my grocery bag bumped her shoulder (she was sitting in the middle of the stairs - how rude of me to say excuse me and expect to carry my groceries up) just isn't a good look. - The circuit breaker would trip when we tried to use the microwave and have the kitchen light on at the same time, and the lights would randomly dim throughout the day. - Management thought it was acceptable to show my apartment without notice. If this sounds like a really fun place to live and entertain your friends, trust me - it's not. I appreciate the friendliness of the office staff, and what seemed like genuine interest in my concerns (Russ is nice guy, and was truly apologetic when I brought problems to his attention), but problems were never actually solved. I can't tell you how thrilled I am to be gone and living in a much more boring, quiet, and happy place. Alas, I'll always have the nightmares--err, I mean memories. read more

941 W Agatite Ave. EXTREMELY LOUD FLIMSY CREAKING FLOORS. The neighbor above me walks all night (problem with stimulants?) and I cannot sleep from the creaking. When he puts a heating fan on the floor, I get a headache from my ceiling vibrating and rumbling. The heat is turned on/off by sensors - sometimes it turns on on warm sunny days and doesn't on cold day so you will have to buy a heater. The laundry room is expensive and always dirty, especially the dryers. The rent keeps increasing every year with no inflation or improvement of the living conditions. They charge $300 move-in fee for what exactly? It is simply cheaper to find another place. read more

I have lived in the Coronado on Rosemont for over a year and have had no problems with Hunter Properties. Everything was new and renovated when I moved in. Rent is reasonable and the area is nice. Management is friendly and keeps the place clean. The tenants on my floor are quiet and friendly in passing. I've never had any problems with pests, but pest control still stops by every three months to inspect apartments. My only complaint is that the water pressure in the shower can get a bit wonky and suddenly get very hot. read more

Extremely unprofessional. I was in negotiations regarding a vacant property and everything seemed to be moving forward. Randy Pavlock has had me waiting for three weeks without returning my calls. Every time I call, the receptionist with poor enunciation just states "he's with someone". Every time. The only time she doesn't say that is when "he's left for the day". I have been willing to compromise and would just like a response. Apparently I was expecting too much from yet another "I'm too important to waste my time on you" Chicago yuppie capitalist businessman. Hunter Properties is every bit as fucked up as all these reviews say. The first thing you should be aware of is a HUGE, HUGE mistake on their application. The app asks for your "take-home pay." As all of us sane, educated people know, "take-home pay" is your NET income. That means your pay AFTER deductions. So, following directions, I put down my NET income. You can probably guess what happened next! I was denied because they thought I didn't earn enough. What they were basing their decision on was a figure that was supposed to be my GROSS income, which is your income BEFORE deductions which, in my case, is 40% more than the figure I wrote down. Yes, they really are that stupid. I was so gobsmacked by the idiocy of these people that, in combination with all the other horror stories, I didn't even bother to ask for a reevaluation. I lived at 4855 n kimball for all of a month. I requested a sublet two weeks in because that building is infested with roaches. I had an exterminator out twice in that month, but I couldn't take it. Most of their properties are infested with roach, spider and other bugs and they don't tell you about it. I, oh sorry! roaches lived (& probably are still living!) at 941 W Agatite. It took around two weeks to see the exterminator after requesting for. They did not had the right to rent such a heavily infested building, they only want to get the money. I saw more than one roach almost everyday for a whole year, in my bed, on my table & even once on my leg. I will never rent from them again, even it is for free!! read more

From the office to the maintenance man neither of them had a clear answer on what apartments were available it seemed a little strange. I rented in a building in Edgewater for 6 years. Victor was amazing! He even changed my locks at 2am, because I was mugged earlier in the evening. I have lived in an apartment of Hunter Properties for a year now. I'm very satisfied with their service. When I was looking for an apartment I called them and I scheduled appointment. I've been to couple showings and I have chosen an apartment in the Uptown area. The apartment is well maintained and in great condition. So far I had just one issue with my bath tub but after my call they helped me right away. Great people are working at Hunter's! Extremely friendly! We lived in our apartment for 2 years before Hunter Properties bought it. At first we thought Hunter buying the building was a good thing. They ran out the drug dealers and filled the pot holes. They promised much needed renovations for all, but only renovated for the new tenants and the building manager. They upped our rent and didnt fix the water heater. This is all tolerable, but then the building manager had my husband BANNED from ALL properties including the parking lot under threat of arrest. The building is so far from the street I had a severe asthma attack bringing the groceries in. The building manager said he could come in and stay the night last night and they'd remove the ban on monday, and that he could park in the lot and they'd say I was driving the car during the ban. The next morning, she called the police on him for disobeying the ban! I go over there and ask her and she lies to the police telling them she never said any of it! This is the day after she used her key to have 12 police raid my apartment WHILE WE WERE HOME! My son is autistic and I don't know if he'll get over the trauma! Why did she have police storm our apartment? Because she knocked and we didnt answer. Not joking. Why was my husband banned? Because we had a marital spat. Because he just found out his dad has cancer. Yeah. I had to Jerry rig an alarm system out of string and glass bottles because nobody will fix our front door (The only thing holding it closed is the deadbolt) and I don't feel safe with her having access to my apartment while I'm gone. Not to mention all the screaming her and her boyfriend do, how loud their giant untrained dog barks at all hours or the music they blast. I feel targeted and unsafe in my own home, and I feel like we are being pushed out because we are a disabled family. We pay our rent on time. We keep our place and our porch looking nice. My apartment was cute, but way overpriced for something the size of a closet. There are cockroaches everywhere, especially in the bike/laundry room, where I fear turning on the light at night. Speaking of laundry, their washers have ruined many items of clothing and don't work half the time. Neighbors leave garbage all over the back stairs, and you pretty much have to stalk the maintenance crew to get anything fixed. At least I didn't have bedbugs like my last place, so they get an extra star. read more

I have been fairly impressed with Hunter Properties since I moved to one of its buildings in Old Irving Park in August 2008. I don't think I've ever had to call for maintenance, so I'm not sure how management responds in that realm. However, what struck me most about my building was its immaculately kept common areas, including a well-landscaped courtyard. In the winter, the snow is promptly removed. The rent is also a great deal. I'm not sure if the same could be said about all its buildings, but there are two others on my street that I pass on my daily walk to the "L," and they all look to be in great condition, from the outside anyway. I think Hunter Properties is worth checking out, and don't let the poor reviews on here deter your from renting from it. read more

I should have read the reviews! every realtor that is looking at a potential renter knows exactly what they are looking for ( with their credit). when I called and asked what is it in specific that you are looking for when you look into my credit I got oh.. it depends. I should have known not to proceed and move on. instead I gave them the benefit of the doubt and proceeded. so not only did I not get my 85.00 back which I'm sure no-one has to just give up like that, I only got an email. not a call just to be courteous but an email. I am not at all surprised by the reviews for HP. They are a deplorable management company and they are only after $$$! I have been living in one of their building for a year and a half and this has been the BIGGEST MISTAKE OF MY LIFE!!!! The rent may be affordable, but it's not worth it! When I first moved in, the apartment had a roach problem due to work in a place down the hall. Not pleasant! Slowly, but surely, everything else started to fall apart. I dealt with cold or no running water, mold that ruined hundreds of dollars worth of items, electrical outlets with no covers, and the kitchen sink faucet is completely rusted out. I also dealt with living on the same floor with a racist who defamed me in the front lobby!! And trying to get your issue fixed?! You might as well forget about it! I have called several times and nothing has been fixed! O, they came and put white paint over the mold! How is that going to help! The building is infested with MOLD!! It's everywhere! The bathroom, the closet, the windows! EVERYWHERE! I have done everything I can to get it off, and it keeps coming back! And I have health issues that have progressively deteriorated because of the constant mold problem. Long story short, I am never going to rent from them again! They do nothing to help their tenants! I'm kind of surprised at some of the bad reviews. I've lived in Hunter Properties' 4641 N. Paulina (Arden Manor) for almost a year and have been very pleased with my experience. The building itself is beautiful and in great shape considering it was built nearly a century ago. The studio I moved into is spacious and inviting. The hallways, vestibule and laundry room are cleaned weekly. Whenever I've had a problem with my apartment all I had to do is send an email to Hunter and the building engineer (a friendly, helpful guy) was here the next day to get it fixed. A while back I needed extra space to build models for a film, and asked Hunter if I could use the building's workroom. Randall Pavlock allowed me use of the room for one month, free of charge. He clearly did not have to do that. It was such a huge help to the production that the director put him in the credits. Obviously I can't speak for every tenant's experience, but so far mine has been great. read more

I would never in a million years, live in another property managed by Hunter Properties. I lived at 1061 West Rosemont for only 6 months, and was infested with roaches. The building is not well maintained, and majority of the tenants are dealing with the roach infestation. When the landlord finally sent an exterminator to my unit, the exterminator even stated that Hunter Properties are slumlords, dishing out apartments with cheap rent and horrible conditions. He even urged me to move out. Never again. read more

If I could give negative stars, I totally would because it SUCKS for life! I have always been a fan of Yelp but never have I wanted to leave a review this badly. First, they told me the apartment is cool in the summer and warm enough in the winter that I won't need a heater. I moved in in May and it was hot but I didn't complain. Now It's August soon and the apartment feels like sauna and bugs and all insects keep flying in for some reason. I come into the house seeing at least 7 houseflies and many other kinds. I am OCD clean and it's absolutely driving me insane!!!!! I told hunter in June, and it's almost been two months and they have not sent anyone to fix the issue. The walls are not all painted, some parts of the window have cracks and they drive many bugs. All I can say is they have the worst service and when you talk to them, get ready to be more annoyed because they absolutely are classless and have zero manners. I'm thinking to already breach the contract and they better not fxcking charge me for it. Don't. Do. Hunter. It's the worst! I've never left a comment and this is the first one because I do want to safe as many innocent people as I can. read more

APPLICANTS BEWARE! Hunter Properties is NOT the type of place that you want to apply for an apartment through. Sure they have great vintage apartments, wonderful locations, and reasonable rents. However, if you don't have perfect credit you aren't going to get approved. We have decent credit (670's) , well over 3x the needed income and perfect renters history and were denied based on "credit" we have no delinquent accounts, no credit card debt, no car loan or mortgage debt, just student loans, that have been paid on time and haven't been delinquent. They will take your application fee of $40.00 per person just to deny your less than 700 credit score. This hasn't happened to just us either. We went through an apartment finding service in Chicago, which to their credit, were pretty great! Since getting denied for this Hunter Properties unit we have seen it taken off of the apartment finders website and put back up 6 times. This means, 6 other people have applied which results in taking down the listing, and have all been denied, which results in putting the listing back up. We also talked with someone who was subletting an apartment in a hunter prop building, she said she had several applicants all of which were denied, making it frustrating for her to release the unit. If you have perfect credit go for it. But if you don't, DON'T waste your time, money, and energy applying just to get turned down. And we were told on the phone when we called to see if we could know what they were seeing on our credit report as to why they couldn't approve us and they said they couldn't give out information, no problem, but also that once you apply with Hunter and get turned down, you'll never get approved. One star is too much. We rented at Sheridan Shores, 7665 N. Sheridan almost 2 years ago. In that time, our refrigerator freezer didn't freeze, but the back of the refrigerator turned even pickles to ice. When we complained they sent out an old man with a hair dryer to heat up the rubber seals around the door. It didn't work and we bought as little food as possible. Even in winter tiny black bugs would crawl all over the rubber seals of the fridge and fly out. We used Lysol Spray to keep them under control. The wall kitchen light wasn't even wired, just eye candy. The stove had a gas leak at the bottom, but the person who came in to look set the gas meter at such a rate that he said he didn't detect any gas. Then we had a contractor friend come who detected the leak, but no one answered our emails when we complained about the gas leak. We also spent lots of money on light bulbs that would immediately pop and/or short out due to their light fixtures or the wiring, we aren't sure. We probably spent $100 on Drano between the bathtub and the kitchen and bathroom sinks. The handles on the bathroom sink were broken and screwed together. No help there either. Two or three times a week a terrible odor would waft through the apartment. We narrowed that down to a dry toilet in the basement or the storm sewers when they overflowed. Emailed Russ about that and many other problems. Our emails were ignored. No one ever shoveled the snow in the front, the sidewalks, our porches and our gangway. Last October I emailed Russ Pavlock, who is the President of Hunter Properties, Inc. He doesn't make that fact known. I asked if the halls, stairs and lobby would be cleaned before Christmas. Never got a response about that either. In the entire time we lived in that filthy place, no one ever cleaned any of the common areas, including the so-called laundry room with the always broken washing machine. We used a laundromat rather than face the filthy basement. Garbage littered the back and front stairs and trash blew down the back gangway. Their trash hauler (Strom) dumped more trash than they picked up, and we saw dead and dying rats in front of the dumpster. For a 34-unit apartment building, Hunter used a small City of Chicago recycling bin which was overfilled in 2 days, causing tenants to pile things around it or throw recycling in the dumpster. One of the highlights was when a leak in our front lobby entrance turned into a waterfall and filled a 5-gallon bucket in hours. That went on for several weeks. Once we emptied the bucket because the filthy lobby started to smell of mildew and mold. But the piece de resistance was when they hired men to tuckpoint the building and we came home to find our entire living room, including the furniture, covered in red dust. They didn't even bother to cover the window ACs, so at least the living room one was full of shards of brick and who knows what. Hunter Properties was aware that my husband has leukemia and can't live in a pigsty like that, but he never followed up. While we lived there we saw several tenants pulling up moving trucks and getting out. A former tenant told me we should do the same. So we did. Google Hunter Properties in case you are considering one of their buildings. They have fines over $100,000 in Aurora for defrauding a building full of tenants. A class action suit is in progress there. We tried to get the City of Chicago involved, especially when these men were working on the outside of the building, cutting steel and drilling into brick with no safety glasses, no breathing protection. If we had called OSHA, the work would have been stopped, but at that point we just wanted out of that insane asylum. There's so much more, but we are just glad to have gotten out. If you are smart you will avoid all properties owned/managed by Hunter Properties. read more

One of the worst rental housing units I've ever rented at. For starters, their "property manager" CEILO, who's actually the janitor, is very rude. They have a rule of no dogs, but this guy has a huge dog. I guess it's a privilege of being the janitor. He'll spy on you and harass your friends. Never once have I caused an issue or rent paid late. This guy is the worst. He lives in one of the units that he "manages". The office will deny that he has a dog and will go to the ends of earth to defend him. They're rude and impolite. Hunter Properties is the ABSOLUTE WOST property management company out there. If I could give a negative star rating I would. They absolutely DO NOT care about the tenants they only care about making a profit and raising rent. Given that the majority of their properties are occupied by delinquent hoodlums you would think that they would accommodate the hard working, courteous young professionals that follow the lease teams and are NEVER late on rent payments. WRONG! There is gang violence and shootings on my block and I am fearful for my life. Hunter Properties refuses to help me break my lease even though I am an exceptional tenant. I am even agreeing to pay a penalty fee. I tried to sublease, but NO ONE wants to live in this part of the neighborhood due to the violence. Again, Hunter Properties REFUSES to help. An exemplary management company would go the extra mile for outstanding tenants. That's not Hunter Properties motto. When looking for an apartment, do not rent from Hunter Properties. Since living at 7516 N Seeley Ave I have experienced the following problems: - My apartment unit was beyond filthy when I moved in - No identification, lock and key to my mailbox for 2 weeks after I moved in - Broken front door deadbolt - reported 3 times - No smoke detector - No carbon monoxide detector - Standing water in my bathtub - reported 2 times - Broken toilet - reported 4 times - Standing water in kitchen sink - reported 5 times - No heat for over 4 days in November 2013 where my apartment was below 66 degrees - No communication from Hunter Properties that there would be no on-site laundry facilities for over a month. - Poor lack of communication in general from Hunter Properties when entering apartments. Frequently changing the dates and times and never showing up within the posted time frame. - Poor maintenance of property grounds and curb appeal. Litter and trash everywhere. - Extreme ice hazards near garbage cans and laundry entryways during the winter - Lack of urgency to remove snow and maintaining sidewalk safety during the winter - Gang activity and shootings occur regularly down the block. - Woken up countless times in the middle of the night by disorderly conduct right outside the building. - Refusal to negotiate ending my lease contract. read more

I lived in one of their buildings for three years. Positives: - cheap rent - common areas (hallway, foyer) always kept clean - I never had to have anything repaired, so... yay? Negatives: - Someone was evicted. Instead of changing the locks on the front and back doors, they did nothing. Turns out the person moved into the bike room (this was over the winter when it's not really being used) and was smoking, drinking, pissing all over everything. And they threw all the furniture and leftovers into the front "yard" which looked ugly (this was a good neighborhood) and blocked the sidewalk for people trying to walk down the street. - they never put up notifications of work being done on the building. They tuckpointed, ripped up the hallway carpets, and redid the electric all in my first year. It's not fun waking up and there's some guy hanging outside your window doing stuff to the roof. - the maintenence guy used my bathroom and kitchen sink, and left the water RUNNING in the kitchen. I complained to Hunter and they did not care. He acted like nothing happened when I confronted him about it, and started yelling at me for doing so. - the bike room was broken into and when I called maintenence to tell them, they told me, "Oh it's the weekend and it's late and there's no one in the area, we can't do anything about it." The door was useless because the lock had been broken, but they still didn't care. The police seemed more concerned than the people who own the place. They're just completely unprofessional. They have a ton of properties and it's probably too many for them to handle. I lived at 606 W Cornelia for two years. For the record, Damir, the live-in building engineer, was absolutely great and did what he could. As for Hunter Properties itself, I have complaints: The air conditioning unit in my bedroom went out in the hottest part of July. They took a week to decide to replace it and then instead of having one of the maintenance people take care of it I had to take a half day from work to be there when the company they ordered it from was there to deliver it. After year one my rent went up about 5% and was $50 more a month than a new tenant would pay. I have literally never lived anywhere before where a continuing tenant is asked to pay more per month than a new tenant would. It honestly would have saved me money for a year to have reapplied to live in a different unit in the same building. After year two, they wanted to up my rent 6%, and it would have once again been more than new tenants were paying. My kitchen sink backed up countless times. Damir did what he could, but it's frustrating that after it occurred multiple times one winter and then continued with regularity they just continued to call plumbers to clean the pipes instead of looking into a more long term solution. Jokes on you if you want decent hot water in your kitchen. I forgot what it was like to be able to have water actually hot enough to really clean my dishes until I moved. I lived on the 2nd floor above the parking garage and winters were so cold. I had to buy a space heater to supplement the baseboard heat. The kitchen was TINY like literally "Only a back corner of counterspace where I can put my toaster and coffee maker" tiny. My fridge (which by the way didn't work when I moved in and took several days to get fixed) door couldn't open all the way because the baseboard heater and the wall prevented it. Laundry room is tiny and gross. My windows overlooked the parking garage and I couldn't have them open if I didn't want car exhaust fumes in my apartment. No changes in rent for floor or view so it's really luck of the draw on whatever's available. read more

I would give them negative stars if possible as well. There are ROACHES in my building, and they continue to only treat the common areas. Everyone knows that does NOTHING for a roach infestation, and that ALL units in the building would need to be treated. The management company is a JOKE, takes forever to respond and is absolutely dissmissive of concerns. I also had mold growing all over my bathroom walls due to a leak in the apartment above me. It was almost a month, and several threatening e-mails before it was treated. I would NEVER rent from these individuals. Save yourself the trouble and hassel of worrying about if there are roaches or bedbugs ruining your things. What's funny, is that if you read the reviews- these concerns have been going on for YEARS on several of their properties. Slum. Lords. read more

I would give them negative reviews if I could. Worst leasing company ever. Lie to your face to try to get you to sign a lease for a property you don't want when they have exactly what you want open. You only learn about the later if you decline to sign for the less desirable property. If something goes wrong, forget about it. They don't care who breaks what rules. Dog feces can pile up to the heavens and they won't do anything about it past *may be* saying something to those responsible, which does 0 to resolve the concern when everyone knows they won't follow through on actually enforcing the rules. If you're looking to rent a property where the leasing office is barely above a slum lord in maintaining the properties properly, this is the place for you. If you desire to spend every.single.day cleaning the endless dog feces from your shoes, this is the leasing company for you! If you desire to have neighbors that have as many people as they want living with them, regardless of the number listed on the lease and have those neighbors be as trashy as possible, this is the place for you! If you desire to have dogs try to barrel you over as you go for a walk or, especially when you are carrying groceries or have an infant in your hands, this is the leasing company for you! If you want to live in filth where no one can possibly have any pride in where they live, this is the leasing company for you. Much like the other complaints, there are a ton of hoodlums living here. I've been here two years and there have been several cases of people fighting and throwing out their significant others' stuff out. There is a couple who has loud sex and makes sure everyone can hear it which is another complaint. Always at 1 a.m. So the girl is a drunk slob. We've gotten to know her moans fairly well. If you like slipping and falling in the winter, move here. Snow and ice removal are limited to the first snowfall and never again. The black people here are pretty much the only ones I've ever had an issue with considering they have people over all the time, make a lot of noise, make a mess, break windows and make sure it smells like pot everywhere at all times. Samir is a good maintenance guy, always fairly easy to schedule. He can be rude, but most foreigners are. Windows are rickety and it is unbearably hot in the summer sometimes. But luckily you only pay for electric and summer bills can be like $60 which is nothing. Overall, it's cheap and alright if you never have family visit and if you're a bachelor without a car 'cause after 6:30 there is no street parking whatsoever. We're at the Sheridan property at Howard. Do yourself a favor and don't live here. It would be better if you were sealed from the neighbors but pot smoke seeps through he floor and any gunshots or anyone farting in the street will also be your problem. Have fun! read more

First of all, if you're reading this, do yourself a favor and do NOT move here; worst apartment experience I've had thus far. This property management company is super shady! Moved into a unit at their 7665 N Sheridan location, (#2B to be exact!) that they didn't even show me and things just went downhill after that over time. I became pregnant while living here and it was a complete nightmare! I moved in September of last year and by February I had a terrible rodent problem that would not go away! Mice droppings all over the place; they had literally moved in and would not go away! Sure, they sent out pest control to set traps and put down poison but that was just a preliminary fix; did not fully eradicate the issue at all! I was so worried about bringing my newborn home to a mice infested apartment! I had to literally beg to get out of my lease agreement. The landlord Samir had a terrible attitude, took his time to respond to any issues I had or just ignored me like I was just being dramatic. Appliances in the unit were older than me; I hated this apartment and this was not my first apartment I rented with this company before. I'm just going to go out on a limb and say that this property management company are slumlords; will take your money quickly to move you in and won't be honest about the "issues" they have in their buildings. I will NEVER rent from Hunter ever again in life...worst managemt company on the planet! But if you need something that's affordable in decent areas; they're the place to go; just beware of the "issues" that may be lurking around in your apartment! read more
