Because Good News is situated in the heart of Soho, where all of London's hippest fashion houses, production companies and media firms are generally based, it needs to offer it's clients something different. Sure, you can get the usual paper, a juice and a bag of crisps but I've never seen so many magazines. If your looking for fashion, music, business or art, they have every single commercial, weird and underground paper and magazine you can imagine and even stock some industry mags as well like Music Week for example. Although I don't work in Soho anymore, if I pass this shop, I always stop by and pick up a magazine I know I can't get anywhere else...

Everything from Indonesian clove cigarettes to Gitanes to snuff to cigar- and pipe-related stuff I know next to nothing about can be had. And they sell handy flip-top portable ashtrays with their name on them, which is dead convenient if you can't find any of those "gum and butts" things, which you don't want to go near anyway, if you can possibly help it. The selection of newspapers and magazines is very good. I've noticed newspapers from all over the world, reflecting the wealth of ethnic backrounds of local customers. There is also a large stand with greeting cards for all occasions. This shop is really a mix of newsagents and corner shop, selling all sorts of convenience foods. The prices are slightly higher than the local supermarkets, but the convenience of buying a pint of milk almost right on your doorstep is worth paying extra for, in my opinion. You can also get you tube/bus passes here. the bus stop is right in front of this shop, so a quick top-up of the Oyster card is more than convenient here.

Yet all this pales to the exquisite selection of magazines you have on offer. I spent a good ten minutes gazing longing at the shiny covers wishing I could sit and read them all. What really tickled my pickle about Sweet Inspiration was the fantastic selection of magazines. For a high street newsagents they are stacking plenty of punchy titles that can be often times, difficult to find. I picked up Juxtapoz for my lady. She has always struggled for it in London, but now we know. The above is awesome yet you can also top up your Oyster card, transfer money abroad, fax and photocopy and the thing that always makes me smile - add to or read the local community noticeboard for advertising or finding services. Well, I picked up a copy of Leisure Kicks magazine in Subway fast food at Aldgate in The City on my…read moreway to work. It was free and displayed on one of the shelves. I don't normally bother entering competitions where one just types one's name into a website as I never seem to win. Good job I did with Leisure Kicks magazine! I had a telephone call from Nasar saying I'd won a surf simulator prize in Nottingham. I told him that Nottingham was a long way for me to travel for this prize (I'm game for tickets in London and a little way out) and Nasar was very helpful and flexible and called me back the same day telling me I'd won 'King of Shaves' prizes! Parcelforce delivered it today and I'm delighted. Loads of exotic shaving creams, ointments and razors with refills. I've taken a photo of me with my prize and emailed it to Leisure Kicks with a quote as they requested. Excellent! I assume Portamento is small business but they are very efficient. Leisure Kicks is a sports and leisure magazine. The staff at this branch of Subway are very lovely - I go in to buy a cheap coffee in the morning. I noticed they were 'Halal' today which I don't really approve of but I may just nip into a Subway outlet in future to see if this fantastic magazine is available without purchasing food or drink. Delighted with customer service from Portamento, prize and pleased I've won a website (online) competition at last.
